In this tutorial taken from our recent Live Stream, Scaler's creator Davide Carbone shows Plugin Boutique's Joshua Casper how to make sweeping string arrangements with the new Divisi 4 Part Chord Sets in Scaler 2.7! This new feature lets you send different notes to separate MIDI instruments, allowing you to create realistic sound and feel of a string quartet or orchestra.
Using Kontakt and Native Instruments' String Ensemble and Amati Viola, plus Embertone's Blakus Cello and Joshua Bell Violin, Davide conjures beautiful, lush orchestral textures, prompting Joshua to comment "What's coming through the stream right now is absolutely amazing!"

Would really like to see more vdeos on orchestral and film scoring with scaler since most people only do simplistic stuff!
Multi out needs to be expanded on. This has enormous potential to be the best feature in Scaler.
Yes. I'd like to see an option to either "Always send tonic" or "Always send lowest" on the first midi channel. This would be useful when using inversions. For example, if I want to send an inverted chord to guitar but send the tonic to the bass, rather than the lowest note. Maybe in the next version.
It would be helpful to have a visual representation of the mappings in Scaler so you know which chords/notes are mapped to which MIDI channels when using multi-voice output.
Like different coloured notes, or number by channel? Yep. That would help.
This feature of Scaler is just beyond awesome!! I've never bothered to use Kontakt as a multi-channel instrument..I will now. :)
Loving this. Scaler never ceases to amaze. Once again, sounds that were just imprisoned in my head and unable to be articulated or materialize in the real world are suddenly only made possible with Scaler. You're the maker of dreams.

In Cubase, each Multi can be output directly to it's own track - for any further individual processing
Strummed guitar requires Scaler to use higher octave keys. Can I shift the set of keys linked to chords to a higher octave?

is there is a way to control cc1 and cc11 when we activate the multi out put as I knotice in logic when we put all the string section in kontact , it only control the 1st channel which is the basses for example , is there is away to control the rest of the channels ?

Wowza this update is impressive. One thing that seems unnecessary is to update I need to download 1.4gb. There really is no need for me to download all library and sounds again. Surely an update file can be created which will be a fraction of this size.
Does anyone have a list of synths that also have multi-channel out? In the video Omnisphere is mentioned, does anyone know of any more??
Trying this same Divisi4 part with Scaler2 and Studio One and its not separating notes and playing more than one note on Symphony Bass and also on Blakus Cello/ Maybe something different with Studio One that need to do to make it work like this video with different Kontakt instruments like the examples in this video? Thanks if could point me in the right direction.
Will divisi still work if you are using it as a modi effect in to new logic x update with their new midi out feature?

Not a Scaler 2 Question, but I notice he is using a Kontrol s88 with Logic Pro, has anyone had any experience using Kontrol S88 and controlling Apple Smart Controls? Do they happen to map to the 8 knobs on the Kontrol s88? Just seeing the new version coming out and if it talked nicely with Logic Pro, would be interested.
I tried to replicate what you did here, with the same instruments, and ran into a host of issues. The key switches for most of these instruments get triggered by lower notes even though on the multi-out they should not be played, they are being picked up so the Violin gets all the low notes too. Not sure where the bug is but I have scalar on multi-out and each instrument just on channels 2-5 etc. some of these instruments don't seem to be able to disable keyswitches.
Sometime you solve a week long problem right after you post your stupidity online. In the newer Kontakt 7 it wasn't defaulting to the usual Midi Ch: to set the channel and so I used the little spanner icon, that for some reason setup groups and so it really screwed up incoming midi. Once I got it all off groups and back to just channels it all works as advertised :)

It would be most helpful if Davide actually RECORDED the piece when he is FINISHED demoing and THEN played it back. It's the RESULTS that count the most. :)
does this work with Cubase ? I tried this over on ver 10.5 and it didn't work
it does work. Make sure that in the track where you have Kontakt loaded you set midi channel to "Any"

Does this work in FL Studio?
I've been trying many different ways to make this work in FL Studio, but Scaler 2, whether VST2 or VST3, is not sending the chords as single notes to each midi input in Kontakt as shown in the video using Studio One. The tutorials provided by the Scaler team haven't included any information yet on FL Studio.
If this doesn’t work in Ableton would it work in Unify?
Yes. I tried it right after the live stream and it worked.

Look up "midi routing" he routed midi out of scaler into kontact in different channels. Look into beginner courses. Can't explain the basics of everything every video.
Doesn't work on Ableton multi tracks.
