Good info! I have noticed how they have a rough feel to them when new.

Hello Chris and Tara, and thanks for another cool video! Great presentation, Chris! I have often wondered why all the cast iron pans are full of bumps nowadays, and now I know! LOL! Donald

I have never cared for how rough the surface of new ones are. I guess I just prefer the older ones. Thanks for watching 😊

Cast iron fry pans can last 200 years if used correctly; whereas "non-stick" fry pans last about five years. The trick to maintaining cast iron fry pans is to never wash them with soap, never. Hot water only.

Agree with cast iron lasting for years, but as to soap, sometimes just a little soap is needed. Not soaking in soap... but there are occasions. Do you have a favorite pan? I've always been a Wagner man. Thanks for watching

@@ASimpleLifewithChrisTara Sure, you can wash it with soap but then you have to cure it in oil again. Or you can boil water in the fry pan for a long time and then wipe it out, or you can put the fry pan on a stove with high heat so that everything In the pan gets burnt to a crisp and then wipe the pan. That is just what I do.

Hey, if that works for you, then good... Keep at it. When I'm done with mine, I just add tiny but of oil, wipe it out, and good to go. Always good to hear how others take care of their cast iron.
