- Hi and welcome back to the shed for episode 7 of my telecaster referbishment project. In this episode we flat and polish both the body and the neck but this time I will be doing things slightly differently. Usually I would wet sand with wet and dry paper however this time I will be using a combination of Super Assilex and 3m Trizact pads.
I picked the idea of using Super Assilex from Dave at Ewor Guitar, / @eworcustomguitars it's a great channel, go have a look.
I purchased the Super Assilex from Amazon, www.amazon.co.uk/Assilex-Flex...
I hope you enjoy the video, if so please consider subscribing using the link below.

Really helpful. Many thanks.
You were spot-on with that warning about googling that name. A lot of results related to f-holes.
Haha, you truly are a man obsessed 😊
Very impressed with the paper
It's great stuff Jurgen just a bit expensive but if it gives good results it's worth it in my opinion.
That is a stunning finish. WOW.
Cheers bud, it's just what I had in mind.
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams And keeping the neck a more matte finish is going to really enhance the feel. I may just try building a tele like this with a nice fat neck as a first build. I'm inspired watching your builds. You make the task seem attainable.
@@6StringPassion. that's great to hear, it's exactly what I'm trying to do with the channel. You should have a go at a tele, pretty straight forward.😀
Looks amazing Pat. I use that same paper. I bought a kit that came with a flat handle that would be great on a flat guitar like the tele.
Thanks dane, I'm trying to search out a flat block, the little foam pad was good for this job but I'll want to do flatter finishes in future so will need a harder block. Very, very impressed with the paper though!!
I use the paper as well. The handle/ sanding block works well. It’s a nice system. Beats wet sanding handily. Thanks for the series. ☮️
@@jeffmoe2660 thanks for watching, I'll have to get me one of thos handles. It is way better than wet sanding for sure!
Hey Patrick, thanks for the shout out. I’m glad you like the sanding sheets! Great video as always
No worries Dave, thanks for introducing me to the sanding sheets. I hope I can send a few people over to your great channel :)
Very nice work! Always great when you get to avoid the wet sanding.
Thanks buddy, I've been wet sanding stuff for years and this was so much better. It'll be interesting to see how the next one polishes up.
Here in Slovenia, the price is 2.65€ for a piece of 170 mm x 130 mm without a hand pad (only sandpaper) the hand pad is 14.98€ 😠but you don't need it.
I paid 17.85€ for the set - Blue (K-400), Sky (K-600), Lemon (K-800), Orange (K-1200), Peach (K-1500) + P2000 + P3000 which is enough for 3 guitars
That sounds like a really good deal (apart from the hand pad!!) I paid about twice that for half as much stuff!!
Hi Patrick....interesting stuff - could you use it on an electric sander and speed things up a bit?
I would imagine so, you can buy it in disc format so clearly designed for machine use. It's great stuff :)
I use Super Assilex and Super Buflex exclusively..
I loved using it but it's hard to find in the UK and very expensive. I've yet to try Buflex.
I get it from Amazon@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams
I'm sure I heard of someone using that stuff for sharpening their plane
I bet you could but it would work out very expensive in the long run, it's a great sanding medium.
Is Amazon paying you?
Nope, I just tend to get a lot of stuff from them. Sometimes it's the only place I can realistically find the things I need, as is the case here, and other times it saves me time and money travelling to get the things I need.
