Man, all their songs have such a distinctive style. I'm from Scotland; if only we had a metal scene with such ball-busting riffs and awesome melodies. Don't forget how lucky you are, Aussies!
This is the first Karnivool song I ever heard, the headline show last yr in Islington was brilliant - one of the best shows i've ever been to, I will definately be at the London show in March!
Another great band from my state West Aust and city of Perth . These guys are so raw and incredible...not bad for being only around for such a short time...
Karnivool were brilliant last night at their first UK headline show in Islington, London - i've been waiting to see them for a while.. I just hope they're not strangers to the UK in the future!
Karnivool need more than they're getting - they're an amazing band with, IMO, the best vocalist around at the moment; incredible and varied guitar riffs and intimately complex songs.
Seriously one of their greatest songs, this is an absolute must listen to when I am driving or when I am laying down just chillin out. Its absolutely amazing. Ian, Jon, and Drew all kick ass fuckin hard. and I agree with Pwishnia, both of these bands are EPIC and WICKED but are completely different.
best thing about these guys is that they dont pretend to be anything other than they are...musicians and music fans....adds fuckloads of value in my books. rippin music helps aswell haha
They do often add the verse and chorus of 'wicked game' by chris isaac into one of their songs live... I think it's shutterspeed from memory, that might be what's confusing you if you've seen them live and heard that section.
When are they doing their next tour?? And do they ever come to England? Can' t wait to get my cd in the post tommorrow - UA-cam has made me love Karnivool!!
Great band, very emotional and technically perfect. Although maybe their sound is not the most original in the world, I do love them for their great melodies the most. Plus Kenny's lyrics kick ass.
Yeah, i saw it a while ago on Channel V and thought it was a sick song...didn't hear from the 'vool ever again on commercial TV really. Not that it matters. Only a few weeks till they're back in melb :)
@koehler1989 I agree. Sound Awake is a classic case of 'put more in, get more out'. I preferred Themata to begin with, but find myself coming back more often to Sound Awake.
@Crosskeys just think about all the amazing bands that came from Aus. AC/DC for example. im honestly not surprised that these guys are good lol a little "different" on the music videos, but im in love with the music
We need an Aussie tour here in the states. I wanted to see Dead Letter Circus when they came, but they were with Animals as Leaders (they are very talented, but its all instrumental). I would have went had Dead Letter Circus been with Karnivool or Sleep Parade. I need some lyrics with MEANING, music open to INTERPRETATION.
Should be. Until then the closest thing will be seeing Birds of Tokyo at the BDO next year. Karnivool at the 08 BDO were awesome. I wonder what the chances are of BoT doing any Karnivool songs...? Wishful thinking.
@jajajah86 You get a thumbs-up sir! Now if only someone could put out some decent Karnivool (and TBE, for that matter) tabs with accurate bass lines so I could try my hand at playing them! Bass is definitely an underrated instrument and one that is rarely used to its potential... but a lot of alt rock Aussie bands seem to be changing this trend. Also, good ear. I love the tone as well.
@Crosskeys thanks mate!!! we deffo appreciate it!! i was even talking about it the other day, how diverse the music culture is in Australia.......some Americans could take a leaf out of our book........too much hip hop, not enough REAL music!!!!! (please no haters....it's only my opinion, not hating on anyone) =D much love.
@elvenwishes such a short time are you kidding me after their ep came out (Persona) it took 5 years for them to release an album (Themata) and all most as long to release the next..
@InvertedBomber He's referencing guitar parts with syncopation. It's very abnormal in popular music, Tool is the only band that really does any kind of syncopation that is popular.
I love this song and i love Karnivool, for some reason I think the chorus sounds like the chorus in Because of you by Nickelback. Not that Nickelback come anywhere near Karnivool... Just think it sounds similar :)
Haha that guitar piece (the one right after the first chorus and midway through the verses) sounds like it ought to be in played on Disturbed's Believe album, doesn't it?
@Crosskeys Thanks, man. I try to make the most of by hitting as many gigs from these guysas possible... There's rumors of Karnivool hitting overseas...I hope they're true...Just for your sake! ^^
@Crosskeys Thanks, man. I try to make the most of by hitting as many gigs from these guys possible... There's rumors of Karnivool hitting overseas...I hope they're true...Just for your sake! ^^
@dreamlikestatus that's what i love about animals as leaders. there are no lyrics. so you can listen to it and develop your own feeling to the song haha.
dude listen to the song deadman by karnivool if you dont tell me that 8:25 when it gets heavy that doesnt remind you of an epic part in any awesome tool song?
its the combination of heavy rock, irregular drum beats and clear, beautiful vocal melodies. you can see the influence, but yeah, not all that similar.
Man, all their songs have such a distinctive style.
I'm from Scotland; if only we had a metal scene with such ball-busting riffs and awesome melodies. Don't forget how lucky you are, Aussies!
keep yer eyes on these guys, they're goin places! kickin ass! The Drummer smokes!
Oh yes, they did
This is the first Karnivool song I ever heard, the headline show last yr in Islington was brilliant - one of the best shows i've ever been to, I will definately be at the London show in March!

I do so love Karnivool. Surprised I never thought to look up their videos til today
saw them live a couple of weeks back. They are great live. The vocal has probably the most unique style of performing I have seen in a while.
Karnivool were brilliant last night at their first UK headline show in Islington, London - i've been waiting to see them for a while.. I just hope they're not strangers to the UK in the future!
These guys are a really great band to see live. I saw them at the 2008 BDO and it was the highlight of my day... Even more so than RATM!
I just fell in love of this song, Karnivool rocks!
Karnivool need more than they're getting - they're an amazing band with, IMO, the best vocalist around at the moment; incredible and varied guitar riffs and intimately complex songs.
Wow, I love the song! My buddy said to check them out and I don't regret listening to the whole song!
Seriously one of their greatest songs, this is an absolute must listen to when I am driving or when I am laying down just chillin out. Its absolutely amazing. Ian, Jon, and Drew all kick ass fuckin hard.
and I agree with Pwishnia, both of these bands are EPIC and WICKED but are completely different.
just started to listen to these guys, yep, does it for me, i like the Porcupine Tree like musicality and breaks.. excellent...........
This band is so awesome!
Yeah they rocked hard at BDO. Saw them then went straight to see RATM. Great shit.
Agreed, Madmuso. 'Alternative progressive Heavy Rock'! I like the sound of that!
Fucking best band in the world. AMAZING live. Incredible songs alltogether. Karnivool deserve to be far, far bigger than they are.
Totally agree. Love all of them...
best thing about these guys is that they dont pretend to be anything other than they are...musicians and music fans....adds fuckloads of value in my books. rippin music helps aswell haha
I enjoy this.
I enjoy this allot....
Vool are perfect
They do often add the verse and chorus of 'wicked game' by chris isaac into one of their songs live... I think it's shutterspeed from memory, that might be what's confusing you if you've seen them live and heard that section.
i think they already had a voice with silver chair dont you think. they have a new voice with karnivool . fuckin love these gus
When are they doing their next tour?? And do they ever come to England? Can' t wait to get my cd in the post tommorrow - UA-cam has made me love Karnivool!!
Brilliant. All I can say. The solo blew my mind...so much better than the mindless shred solos these days...
this has a massive sevendust feel to it !! dead set of animosity
Ahahahahah i love the mad faces of Ian Kenny!
Great band, very emotional and technically perfect. Although maybe their sound is not the most original in the world, I do love them for their great melodies the most. Plus Kenny's lyrics kick ass.
@LewiSaunders Oh just to clear things up, Nirvana was from Aberdeen, Washington in the US... and I'm so jealous of you getting to see Karnivool haha.
you gotta have a raw voice in a fun song, ian kelly has perfected it. love it
Yeah, i saw it a while ago on Channel V and thought it was a sick song...didn't hear from the 'vool ever again on commercial TV really. Not that it matters. Only a few weeks till they're back in melb :)
crazy but true, my grand mother was ian's original singing teacher :)
@fivewinter yeah, 3 handed guitarist.. no wonder they are so good!
New album is due at the end of next year, so I've read...wish it would be sooner.
AWESOME!!

@koehler1989 I agree. Sound Awake is a classic case of 'put more in, get more out'. I preferred Themata to begin with, but find myself coming back more often to Sound Awake.
Wow, subliminal messages to the max. Fun.
@Crosskeys just think about all the amazing bands that came from Aus. AC/DC for example. im honestly not surprised that these guys are good lol

'I see more than you.../I feel more than you.../you're spinning me out...'
Chris Reager
@Darfaultner Discovered them back in 2006, Tool are amazing.
Seems like the world is just now discovering this band. It’s been a bit
fuck, saw this band last night, holy shit, underated as.
@jajajah86 You get a thumbs-up sir! Now if only someone could put out some decent Karnivool (and TBE, for that matter) tabs with accurate bass lines so I could try my hand at playing them! Also, good ear. I love the tone as well.
Is this how heaven sounds like??
karnivool DEFF. have a new fan. they're fuckin great!!
@JDoemel Both good recos, have been following them for some time now. Any prog bands from Australia?
I'd call it alternative Heavy Rock.
I'd also call it one of the best songs in Aussie rock history...

@xr6turbo82
Listening to a lot of Karnivool, TBE and Cog.
Any other recommendations?
@elvenwishes such a short time are you kidding me after their ep came out (Persona) it took 5 years for them to release an album (Themata) and all most as long to release the next..
Free pussies to the one who give me an HD version of this video! This is by far the best Vool's song
+Federico Vázquez All free pussies went to... myself. Because I found it :-^
@InvertedBomber He's referencing guitar parts with syncopation. It's very abnormal in popular music, Tool is the only band that really does any kind of syncopation that is popular.
settle down tiger, had this song mixed up thats all, no one got hurt!
I love this song and i love Karnivool, for some reason I think the chorus sounds like the chorus in Because of you by Nickelback. Not that Nickelback come anywhere near Karnivool... Just think it sounds similar :)

so well done to him :D
@Crosskeys Thanks, man. I try to make the most of by hitting as many gigs from these guys possible...
There's rumors of Karnivool hitting overseas...I hope they're true...Just for your sake! ^^
@Crosskeys sorry to rain on your comment, but you do have alestorm, bleed from within and marillion-one of which are very good indeed:)
Who else is making good music?Besides Riverside and Porcupine tree.
fuck yeah ...... go the vool ,,,,,,
@rubynl karnivool are more in the progressive/hard rock side of things, but there's definately metal influences here.
@dreamlikestatus that's what i love about animals as leaders. there are no lyrics. so you can listen to it and develop your own feeling to the song haha.
@triggy1 A couple years ago but I don't remember much of it.
Korn - Shoots and Ladders?
how the fuck are they so amazing?
haha! that was funny!
dude listen to the song deadman by karnivool if you dont tell me that 8:25 when it gets heavy that doesnt remind you of an epic part in any awesome tool song?
@Crosskeys Ever hear of Fellsilent, Tesseract, Sikth and Monuments? Yeah, they are British.
i sorta can...to me they're more like polar opposites in voice (maynard being deeper) but in the passion and attack i think they're very similar
@1966boy Kelly?????
From Venezuela: Excellent, but after they come to Spain they will come to Vzla.... that's more than never... lol
@Crosskeys COME ON MAN YOU CANT GET MORE METAL THAN BAG PIPES!
Since i found it =)
fuck yes! FINALLY AUSTRALIA HAVE A VOICE
My perfect idea of a concert. People jammin in a small place, making out, and women mud wrestling >:D
maybe i'm crazy but i didn't seee a guitar solo in this song, i checked 5 times????????????????am i missing something????????
@StylishStar88 And not to mention Ex-Fellsilent and now Founder of Monuments, John Browne, loves Karnivool a FUCKING LOT! :D
FUCK YEAH!!!!
@stonebasse
this one sounds like a poppier version of several parts of undertow...
doesn't make them bad though
no way is this drummer better danny carey, the guitarist was the one making and recording all the drum tracks on this album.
@jordanm06111 i agree, it's impossible to compare anyone to TOOL!
@cancerbotX ...(cont.) Though they may not be the most intelligent of bands, I still think it sounds pretty good. Also, they're awesome live.
Can sumone pls tell me who originally played this song?
where the fuck does that third arm come from at 2:17? xD cant believe ive only just noticed ^^
its the combination of heavy rock, irregular drum beats and clear, beautiful vocal melodies. you can see the influence, but yeah, not all that similar.
@Crosskeys One word - Alestorm
@esppsp Periphery, Animals As Leaders.
