Your right about data backup, I don't know how many times I tell my customers to back their stuff up, I have a few that has me do it for them (for a fee of course) they just don't want to be bothered by it. I back up the back up on a couple of sources, because they can break to. If it's important to you keep it safe. FTP, Portable drives, whatever it takes.

100% agreed. 9 out of 10 times I never use the back up, but that 1 time you need it... After all the dust settled this weekend, I realized that I did have backups on my other computer, during the panic I had forgotten I set that up weeks ok :) Other than that, how was your weekend?

that scsi drive is LOUD, it almost sounds like grinding (ie bad heads or media). If you ran diagnostic on it, it said it was failing (like lots of bad sectors)? i've had some "death"stars do that, start grinding then krr krr krr krr, then grind some more, then click of death,

I am a full believer in the DROBO. drobo(dot)com It allows you to use any hard drive size and uses its on blend of raid (redundancy). But the DROBO base unit, with out drives, is 499.00... :(
But for a cost effective backup, the Western Digital External Drives are awesome. The one I unboxed is actually a really good unit, this entire weekend, it has been a trooper backing up 1.8 terabytes of data.
