Thanks. Worked for me. My keyboard had a loose key, its a SEMP Toshiba NA 1401, a brasilian version of the Toshiba satelite. It has the same key mechanism but its upside down.

dont use this trick you will damage your keyboard, instead buy isopropyl alcohol from chemist shop for Rs.10/- i bought for 100 rupees isopropyl alcohol and put it in clean glass utensil. Take out the keyboard from laptop and then dip the keyboard in alcohol. Dont use any other alcohol. i recomend to use alcohol from chemist shop because it is very pure. and dont drink it. Chances very high one chemist shop will not give so much alcohol. after dipping in alcohol let it dry for 1 to 2 hours. Although it dries in 10 to 15 minutes whole circuit. This method is recommended only when your keyboard has moisture and dirt and you want to remove them. hold the keyboard vertically when dipping it in alcohol. keep holding for couple of minutes. if dirt is their you will see dirt coming out from the keyboard. Also one can dip in petrol dipping the keyboard and it will clean the dirt. Dont use water. After dipping it in alcohol i kept the keyboard in outside in sun for drying and giving heat. heat resets all its circuitry. keep the keyboard in sunlight when it is very hot outside for 2 to 3 hours. Now you have a brand new keyboard.

@@dr.mayankmalviya_dite hey. In the end i replaced the keyboard. The liquid was electricity conductive. Like wd 40 with no residual. It was temporary solution.
It works. Be careful while dissembling laptop, i ended up system not booting.

@@navin__665 Can usually find individual keys and hinges on ebay - people sell them individually from scrap laptops.
Thanks for the tip... my question is: what kind of fault is this supposed to fix? A) keystrokes not getting registered, or B) keystrokes duplicated / key much too sensitive? Mine is the latter case. I barely rest my finger on the key, and spurious keystrokes start pouring into the buffer. And yes I have removed the outer mechanical parts of the key successfully, it's the rubber drum itself that behaves this way, and it's glued tight to the board, no chance of crumbs / dust getting in. I don't know the details of the keyboard's internal construction, I've seen some cheap desktop keyboards disassembled before, I'm thinking of some printed traces getting in touch where they really should stay isolated, or some conductive rubber mat getting loose from the drum, or a stray metal particle jammed in just the right place or some such... I suspect that for me the answer is "throw away the keyboard and buy a spare".

To my surprise ur method worked for me but, since I didn't have WD-40 so I used "Nail-polish Remover". Took me 20-25 mins to fixed that key. Next time I m sure to fix it within 10-15min tops :) thanks anyway. Kudos from Arunachal.

Mera kaam ho gaya, Rs.80 ka spray aya & injection 15 ka, total 95 me kaam hogaya, bro u saved my 2300 for new keyboard
worked for me without WD-45 by simply cleaning
CAUTION:
NOT all notebook's keyboard are the same.
If your notebook is an Asus brand then beware that it has 4 small plastic clips that can comes off very easily when you peel off a key.
The real problem is when clips comes off it will likely take you 1 to 2 hours putting it back becos there is no reference point for the clips to match. It is only for the people who are familiar with notebooks repair then it is safe to peel it off.
Otherwise you will have trouble putting it back.
Nice idea. but I would highly advise against using WD-40 as it does not dry. Use a dry contact cleaner spray instead!

Sir mere lenovo e41 15 laptop uska power button keyboard ke sath hein. Now problem hein ki keyboard connected rehne se laptop auto power on off hotey rehtey . Kiya extra power button add kar sakta hu mein extra keyboard use karta hu. Baki key bhi kam karta hein leki lagake rakhne se repeat press hotey hein shayad
