A small but violent tornado ripped through the town ow Westmoreland, KS yesterday afternoon. The tornado killed one, destroyed 22 homes and damaging many others. Drone video shows the aftermath.
Westmoreland is a very small town. According to Wikipedia, the last census had the town at only 740 people. This is a big hit.
It's even smaller now😅
Westmoreland is a great town with great people. Took the scenic byway through the Flint Hills in 2021, followed other state roads into Nebraska. Westmoreland will rebuild. Praying for you guys! 🙏🏻
It's messed up when your house is completely gone but your backyard shed just has a door missing.
and your aluminum shed would be the last place you'd want to go😢
and the powerlines among the damage are still standing like nothing happened
Looks like that's their new house
That's absolutely miserable! I hate to see people affected like that. This is good documentation of an unfortunate outcome. Thank you...
He is profiting off of people who have given no consent to be recorded. This guy is a monster.
this tornado goes to show that even small tornadoes can cause devastating damage unfortunately 😢
Just look at what happened to Tracy Minnesota or barneveld Wisconsin
@@sethcourtemanche5738 Yes indeed!👍Also, look up these two incredible 'drill bit' tornadoes: (a) the June 22, 2007 Elie, Manitoba, Canada tornado (rated F-5), and (b) the early stages of the July 8, 2020 Ashby, Minnesota (rated EF-4).
😥
Tornado wasnt small this is kind of a common size
It's not necessarily the size of the tornado its the wind speed
This tornado has quite a few similarities to the relatively unknown Wales, WI F4 tornado of 4/27/84. Parent storm with a relatively high cloud base, very compact structure between rope-like and drillbit at times, and deceptively intense considering the relatively benign appearance. As far as I know, no videos exist of that tornado but it was well documented in still photos because of how visible it was for miles around.
Serves as a reminder that you should never let your guard down based on the appearance of a tornado. My thoughts are with the people of Westmoreland, KS; Sulphur, Marietta, and Holdenville, OK; Minden, IA and all other communities impacted by this tornado outbreak sequence.
The force of nature is no joke 😮
Prayers for all. God Bless them all
My heart goes out to those people.
But the People likes this Show or so a Feedback from the Nature..👈🏼😉👍🏻😂😂😂😂

Man- rough start to the season. I hope everyone can rebuild and move on.
Season started a long time ago
@@michaelespeland Thank you for mansplaining the tornado season for me. Never could have figured that out without you!!!

As much as I don't like -40+ winters in Canada, I would much rather have that then the poor people dealing with tornadoes....God bless you people and I'm not at all religious 😢
good luck to all residents affected by these destructive monsters. I pray for you from French 🙏❤
Just heartbreaking! I'm so sorry to see this. All those people and animals. Lives and livelihoods destroyed. My deepest sympathy and prayers to all💔💔💔
Thanks Brett! Great video but soooo sad!
This was one of the most impressive tornado I've ever seen! It stayed together for along time but yet looked like it was going to rope out. Sure messed things up.
this tornado gives me serious Andover vibes
Prayers sent 🙏
I’m really shocked that the power lines are standing amongst the rubble! My heart goes out to these people. 😢
Just shows that you cant judge a tornadoes power by the size of it.
Saw Reeds & JayJack videos of the tornadoes live. Unbelievable destruction for such a small but furious twister.
Truly Heartbreaking. 🙏
I live 22 miles from this horrible tragedy 😢its a devastating blow for this small community🙏God bless
So sad praying for those people 🙏
All those who have been impacted by this are in my thoughts 😔from the UK
Solid EF4 damage in the center with EF3 and EF2 damage on the edges
Like I said above, the surveyors will use the fact that most of these are houses built in the 1950s or before as an excuse to not rate it any higher than EF-3. They will blame part of the destruction on the age and the building codes at the time instead of the tornado.
I bet this gets a low end EF-3. Winds 140 - 145mph.
@@5150puddin that's mid range EF3 dude low end would be 130-140 mph
@@sethcourtemanche5738 Low end starts at 136mph for EF-3. 136 to 165mph. And It ended up as I predicted.
This has already been such a devastating year, and we're only getting started in May. So sorry to see this happening to so many small towns that just can't take hits like this. I don't mean to minimize the impact of larger cities getting hit, but these small towns just don't have the ONGOING support to rebuild. They get their "federal aid" right after these events, but then they are forgotten as it takes YEARS to recover - if they ever do.
Wow… Hope everyone is ok.
Praying for you’ll ❤
prayers to all who were in the path.
Unbelievable!
So sorry💔🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
amazing to see the homes /trees shredded but the power lines / poles were unscathed with the exception of one wire it looks like.
This is a better view of the destruction wreaked by the tornado 🌪️ than the videos put out by Reed timmer and Aaron jayjack-they show little of the damage-but the drone you put up gives a excellent view of the aftermath-keep this up, Brett! 😮😮😮😮
It's also intentional because as they are respectful to ensuring the respect & privacy of those impacted by natural disasters. The moment something happens where it impacts lives, storm chasers are the first to drop what they are doing and respond with search and recovery efforts.
I've seen Reed, Brandon and many others drop everything multiple times to go save people! They are storm chasers, not aftermath chasers! They understand the sensitivity of showing people's homes and livelihoods obliterated!
Wow crazy drillbit
Some powerlines are still up. So strange. Prayers to community
Prayers 🙏🙏🙏
:{ dang my heart goes out to everyone impacted
Prayers! Oh my goodness, I'm not sure I have ever noticed such ...just splintered. Big hugs and Loves to all and all the chasers and First Responders!!!
People have terrible paint colors in their homes.
Take the insurance money, buy an RV.
And GTFO of there!
What are those power polls and lines made out of Adamantium?

And, in the midst of all the devastation, birds are flying! 😮
Devastating
At least EF3 level damage
Correct imo, but is this a foundation? 0:33 to the right
EF4 damage dude
@@Strob_GD Yeah but a lot of those houses were built 70 to a 100 years ago. The surveyors will just say "those houses weren't built to modern standards so we can't go by the damage that was done to them." That has been one of their go tos for underrating storms since the 2013 Moore tornado. That was the last official EF-5 tornado and I guarantee there have been close to a dozen since then and they always find one excuse or another to rate them EF-4 instead.
@@88wildcatthey are only giving the ef-5 title to tornadoes that truly stand out. They aren’t finding “reasons” to not rate them accurately. If they don’t have evidence that it had 200mph+ winds then they aren’t going to rate it as such. The integrity of the structures makes all the difference. Sweeping away poorly anchored homes will not get it an ef-5 rating. It comes down to science. Not because they are being stingy on ratings.
@@88wildcatsome homes rated EF5 in the Moore tornado were built in the 70’s. Newer construction is actually the reason nothing is rated EF5.
EF4 Twister again !!! This what I see through the laptop !!!
🙏🙏😢
All that devastation....homes and other structures bashed to bits.....all caused by wind.
It's hard to comprehend. My heart and prayers for these poor souls....they've lost almost everything except their lives....and, probably some did lose their lives...I haven't heard much. Poor things! I pray for them, in the Name of Yeshua/Jesus the Messiah. 💜💙🕊💙💜
Looks like they were hard hit, very scary the power of these tornadoes

Eerie not to see any people.... aside from a solo reporter pre-taping a news story.
Looks like EF-4 damage in some spots. That's crazy considering how small this tornado was
What type of tornado was it cone or stovepipe?
@@sethcourtemanche5738 More like a rope/cone mix. It was very long and twisted like a noodle. Not a stovepipe.
That's exactly what the Tracy Minnesota F5 of 1968 looked like as it obliterated 300 something homes
@@sethcourtemanche5738 Yeah not far from it, but in this case I really don't think we're talking about an F5
Oh definitely not if this was a 5 nothing would be left
I’m confused. The caption says this tornado happened in Westmorland, KS today, 5/1/24. Didn’t Westmorland get hit a couple of days ago? Did it get hit twice?
It was hit yesterday afternoon. This is my hometown.
only yesterday was it hit...
@@rachelmckinney9508 Thank you for clearing that up. How are you? Are you OK? Did the tornado hit your house? The devastation looks massive. Is enough help being provided? I hope you and your family, friends and neighbors are OK. I grew up near Moore, Oklahoma and made it through many tornadoes. So I’m very familiar with the damage these storms can do. I know it’s hard to see familiar landmarks gone. I’m so sorry for you and your hometown. I’ll pray for you.
Is there such a thing as house insurance in tornado prone parts of the country?
Yes, there is.
Easily EF3 or EF4
That’s what I thought! No tornado 🌪️ that small is capable of doing damage-it shows us it can do like a big one! 😮😮😮😮
😢
All this tragic obliteration but i am surprised to so many power lines still standing amidst rubble
I feel bad for the people who do and don’t survive tornados
It looks like a war zone,,poor people god bless you all from uk
The poles look undamaged because they are new poles. The power company had power restored to much of the town by morning.
Didn’t take the telephone poles down…🤔
😔
Some of this looks like f4 damage.
Would there be as much devastation if more properties were brick built rather than wood? It’s so heartbreaking to see this kind of damage to property on a regular basis
A lot of buildings don’t with stand much anymore with that much force sad but true .
This looks to be EF-3 to EF-4 damage. Any idea what the preliminary rating was? Regardless of the rating, it's devastating for the people of this community. My heart goes out to them.
May the God of love look after us. All........
Oh my gosh this is another tornado its so sad to watch all of this its take time to rebuild but this monster turnado just ripped just in instant so sad im hoping no one is injured
😮😮😮
Absolutely heartbreaking. Something I haven’t seen addressed and that is what about farm animals?
Guys i live right by Westmoreland and i saw the tornado it was scary on its HUGE curl! 1 LIKE= 1 PRAYER
Prayers to the Lord for any good and decent hard working lives torn apart by this .
And as for resident climate change deniers - what goes around comes around.
Prayers from Topeka. Infuriates me to see a certain storm chaser giggling like a little girl on video while this is happening to people’s homes.
I live just north of Topeka, but my family live only about 30 minutes from Westmoreland.😢
If you mean the one I think, who was live during this, then you probably should be aware that most of the time, the adrenalin makes you giggling. And it was them that brought out the warning of an unwarned storm and as soon as they see a damaged house the immediately check on the people and call 911.
Prayers to the people of Westmoreland 🙏. So sad for the loss.
@@claudiakirschner8257 And they make sure it’s all captured on video
This looks like F5 destruction
Everyone affected will see their homeowners insurance go up at least 600%

Not for broadcast what’s going on? Is this fake?
Nah. They just don't want others using the video without permission. This comes up on a lot of videos because people like to steal them.

Horrible prayers to all
Tornados rarely hit mansions - hmmm.
Oh, they certainly do, don't worry! I live about 2 hours away from Westmoreland and it's not a rich town.
Hackleburg tornado hit several mansions and the Mayfield tornado did. Tornadoes spare nothing
Not too many tornadoes ever hit Beverly Hills or the Hamptons.

Yeah it was God’s will to destroy these people’s homes?
Between the natural disasters
And With the catastrophic lawlessness within DC
It's Heartbreaking to witness
They are related, Weather Warfare, they said that they would own the weather by 2025. Look up( in2 thin air), he called this the other day. We will own nothing by 2030, says the WEF.

Has pur so called president been out to Ok. Kansas Nebraska etc. Yet i doubt it and can't even answer a question
Many cities located in the Midwest called "The Tornado Alley" are permanently hit by tornadoes every year. How people can survive redoing their houses from "nada"?
Insurance and putting one foot into front of the other. I've seen two in 43 years in the Midwest and only at a distance. They survive the same way earthquake regions or hurricane ones do.
