    the master and the apprentice. im sure this was Hendrys last semi final at the Crucible, but over a decade on Ronnie still chasing the masters records. Good to see there wasnt a flu epidemic that year in Sheffield.

    Never saw anyone play better snooker than Hendry in the 90s but this as good, but not better. Hendry would have the edge in their peaks because he had a better state of mind

    • @CityStarrzz
      @CityStarrzz 4 роки тому

      JendrixHimi even Hendry wouldn’t agree with you mate. Ronnie in peak wouldn’t behave anything stopping him. Raw ability, the rocket is the clear winner.

      @@CityStarrzz No it would have been too close to call , Hendry only had to be as good as he had to in the 90's, he would have raised his game to whoever he played , the better player you play the better you become , I think you need to look at Hendry in the 90's again , also when you are that good its who gets to the table first , and Hendry was a monster at potting that first ball too , I believe that even Ronnies natural talent would not have had it all his own way , his mindset would have been crushed by Hendry at their peaks I give 70/30 Hendry in long matches , if Ronnie was that great he would have won more world titles he been playing 25+ years only won 5 in all that time , more to snooker than natural talent at potting and break building , both great players , Hendry just had a way to beat you before you even started playing and the way he won them consistantly year after year tells you about his steel mindset, he also made 11 x 147's in competition , Ronnies only made 15 with all his natural talent , think about it.. whoever gets to the table first wins, and if it come to the crunch Hendry would NOT miss , Ronnie would crack , it razor close but I'd still back Hendry
      as the goat

      JendrixHimi maybe you would, but, Hendry wouldn’t hahaha.
      Speak to any of them mate. I’ve had it confirmed from multiple pro’s, Ronnie in form with nothing to worry about off the table would wipe the floor with ANYONE. Steve Davis himself has said this to me.
      I’m more likely to side with him than you in this. I see your point, but you’re not looking at the question right. “On form” Ronnie would destroy him haha.

    • @JendrixHimi
      @JendrixHimi 4 роки тому

      @@CityStarrzz Right.. But Hendry was always on form. And he would have upped his game even more . And let's face it Hendry and Ronnie were always better than all the others . Both in peak form its who got in balls first . You must understand this if you know snooker. It could have gone either way . But I still think hendrys mental steel would seen Ronnie off in the longer games. Ronnies been playing in all the word championships since 92 Thats 28 years only won 5.i love Ronnie he was born in my home town Wordsley ! Of course id be rooting for him!.. But logic , especially in the 37 framers tells me otherwise. But have to agree natural talent on the table he had the edge on Hendry but not by much. It's easy to forget just how great hendry was when he's not in the mix anymore. even Ronnie peak its close.. Re-watch some 90s.. Remind yourself

      JendrixHimi I’d like to think I know my snooker very well.
      I’m not just fanboying here, And I’m entirely aware that Hendry’s temperament was miles ahead of Ronnie’s in his day, but what Ronnie lacks in this area, he more than makes up for in creativity, and the ability to relearn the game.
      Ronnie played at the tail end of Hendry’s complete domination of the game. Ronnie also played in an era where the talent pool was vastly greater than it was when Hendry was about, and the game has evolved drastically since then.
      Hendry realised that he wasn’t able to adapt well enough to get the kind of wins he could in his own era, and (rightfully in my opinion) decided to gracefully exit the game, rather than tarnish a legacy he could no longer meaningfully add to.
      Ronnie in the other hand, for all his faults, of which there are many, still only has to turn up. The entire world knows that if Ronnie turns up, the real Ronnie, then you’re not allowed to be on anything other than your A game. You have to do what Selby can, and make a lot of the frames grinders, and throw him off his game. But they still all know it’s Ronnie’s to lose. And it sucks for the other lads, it really does, but life isn’t fair.
      When Ronnie is on form, not only can he pot, but he pots balls that don’t look on, he finds snookers that come of 4-6 cushion with millimetre perfect positioning, and due to his issues, intimidates massively when doing this, because he has no poker face to save his life, and it’s obvious when he feels this way.
      You could put that Ronnie up against anyone, and the only way to break that is to throw him off form. Ronnie is savant, and creative player.
      Hendry was a clinical machine, who managed to become almost robotic in his consistency. He changed the game by simply saying “nah, that’s on, and I’m gonna open the pack”, and when the pack didn’t open right, he could regroup, and play the percentage game again.
      Ronnie has shown time and time again, that if a break isn’t on, he might just make it on.

    If he misses a shot , .its a FLUKE ! Poetry in motion, superlatives and adjectives elude me. I cant see anyone getting actually "Better" than Ronnie , to do that the person could miss a pot , cos Ronnie certainly doesnt miss much at all.
