Had this song played at the beginning of my Dad's funeral service. He believed in tough love, but in later years expressed regrets over his actions and words. The songs lyrics and beautiful delivery, was a fitting part of a tribute to him. If any one song summed him up it was that one. Fifteen years on I still miss him along with his flaws that we all have. That is unconditional love. On reflection perhaps your parents are the few people in your life who truly understand and care about you. Show them compassion. They do their best with what they had and knew at the time. Parenting's not easy, sometimes we have to look back at our childhood and remember that ?

However, it was kind of you to acknowledge my comment upon Nina Simone's track "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and what it meant to me and my relationship with my Dad. Like you say of yours my life with him had its ups and downs. Though since he's passed I never realised how much he really had my best interests at heart things he said and did that I never "got" back then. Sometimes you have to value being in the moment with those you love, as he told me often, "I won't be here forever" We are all different, but I hope you are able to value this time you get with your Dad - it will be the best gift he will ever receive from you, your time, care and love when he needs it the most ? My dad's still alive, and I always want to share this with him, though I feel awkward for some reason. Even though he loves Nina Simone. I've never felt he didn't love me, but the way he is has always been tough too. It's nice to find a song that understands that some people, even many, can do harm without having any ill will. And can struggle with themselves for not coming across as they mean to, no matter how they wish they could. There's a lot I understand about him that I'm not willing to share, it's not really our way. But I want him to know there are somethings I get, no matter our problems.I still love him, and somethings will always be hard to talk about. But how can't I love him? Holly molly! First time heard this in “Nobody” movie. I thought she is a man with that strong HEAVENLY voice. Oh LORD, please don’t let me be misunderstood. 🙏😢
Yeah Lil Wayne used it as an intro to one of his songs. Thought it was gentleman as well but glad to know a woman with a deep voice sang this so deep.and passionate song. Makes me love my heavy voice
@@clorendabrown4274 So, if Nina Simone hadn’t had a heavy voice, you wouldn’t have loved your voice!? Hey, beautiful! Don’t say that. You have to love your voice and yourself without anyone making you love ‘em. Always remember you have things other people wish to have. Cheers!
@@will5784 Yeah pretty much but thanks for those kind words. It's always been a struggle and insecurity of mines since I was young. Kids can be so cruel you know so I've always talked in a higher pitch when I would speak to people and still kind of do
@@clorendabrown4274 Well, i know kids and people. I know how cruel they are specifically with the difference. But the difference always a beautiful thing. If we weren’t different, we wouldn’t be here and the life would be meaningless. If there weren’t the opposite of the meaning, the meaning would never have meaning. If Nina Simone had been ashamed of her voice and hidden it, we would never have heard about her. She wasn’t! that’s why she became the singer with the heavenly voice we know. You shouldn’t be ashamed of your voice. Maybe it is your strength point but you don’t know by trying to hide it.
I discovered Nina Simone 15 years ago and I regret not discovering her sooner. Nina Simone is a beautiful song, she is magnificent star, she is the whole world. I wish everyone peace from Russia, and try not to think badly of us!
I love this! Thank you for sharing. People forget that life has nuances, and I don't think badly of you or anyone from Russia. Sending love and positivity from the USA.
honestly to me both songs definitely have their right to exist. Nina Simone is one of the great-great but her songs existing doesn't mean the music industry can't (amd shouldn't) development different a couple decades later. "Dontgetit" by Lil Wayne is a beautiful song. I just wish the artists had to mark who they took their work from
@Bill Jones So you don't support new artists who create and not imitate? Or do you just like to stay stuck in your box assuming all new artists are imitating? Because, I'm sure that you wouldn't be talking shit if you actually KNEW, and supported music and artistry that IS authentic, and even still realizing that there are legends and icons who have ALWAYS gotten inspiration from PREVIOUS icons and legends or even helping someone to become a legend by getting influenced by a classic and bringing it up as they evolve.
@Bill Jones I like to believe if you actually are a truthful person who truly loves music and art, you wouldn't be a hypocrite to insinuate or even think with your tiny mind that 'new'/today's artists don't create. Or maybe it's also what you even consider an artist. I guess it's all in your head. This is just your opinion, as is ours or mine is to you. I'm just sayin, you asked for this response. Maybe you didn't think it would come. You just seem very small minded to me, basing your judgement on a category you're making up in your mind and not even going deeper to actually discover the evolution and staying negative and pessimistic, must be fun to be you. However, I never do this and respond to petty comments, but eh i figured why not, silence is violence right. Have a great whateva

Over fifty years old and I still want people, loved ones, friends, strangers, everyone to be able to see something more than my angular exterior in me, I want so much not to be misunderstood. Thank you Nina, this song hits me so deep, always.
So many people are realizing their purposes here on earth, and I feel that for so many it has been at the detriment of our families and friends. It's really painful to see what once linked to something semi perfect has now called you to open your eyes and 😖 see where the true difference is or rather the shine. Many doors will close but that is only so the others will open in the way that your life( not as in numbers) experiences will further assist you down the way so you're fortunate and blessed in your own belief learn to put down walls and boundaries so that your heart's desires ( highest self soul) can let in abundance where it needs to be ,not necessarily $ .I hope that you find peace you will only get this by connecting to source,God,your higher self remember to not 🚫 remember victim mentality because remembering it was the program .I hope that makes sense if it doesn't take a few looks at it again with a new perspective.Peace and Love, 💜🦋

Me too....but unfortunately mainstream has gone "trap music", that's all you hear on the radio, your neighbors playing, the kids and social media. When music like this comes out no one plays it.
Yes, I am still listening now. She had the greatest female voice in the world and I think this may be my favourite, I might go as far as saying this is the best version I have ever heard of any song. Emotion, pathos, hardship, range and above all talent .... frankly overwhelming.

I love Lana but on this one, I don't understand. How can you be excited that this or this singer will cover this song? No one can do as good as Nina. She got that unique velvet yet powerful, jazzy, low-pitched voice.
Exactly, there are a lot of songs that just cannot be covered by other people. Nina Simone's voice actually strikes the soul. That said, the best cover song of all time in my opinion is Johnny Cash's Hurt.
Cause she likes the song. She takes inspiration from them . Having an artist cover another artists song is really a compliment to the original one. And the cover i believe is a means to interpret it in a way you feel not copying. Their voices are so distinct and unique. I love lana del rays cover songs and that s how i came to know about these great artists ! :) :) thanks for reading ...
Because some people love to hear Lana sing and if we get to hear what she'll be singing before her version is out, that excites us. Lana's not trying to one-up anyone, especially Nina Simone. This song is very relevant to her life and she respects Nina, so that's why she's covering it and we're excited for her.
I feel emotionally and internally connected to this song because I struggle with OCD, Dyspraxia, and Depression and hearing Nina expressing herself makes me feel connected and every now and then I listen to this because it’s very therapeutic & it uplifts me. Rest In Peace Nina Simone your in a better place now.
She does indeed. But it begs the question why someone so open would worry about being misunderstood, as she clearly did. It is not just the song title -- she really did seem to worry about it.
"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a song written by Bennie Benjamin, Horace Ott and Sol Marcus for the American singer-songwriter and pianist Nina Simone, who recorded the first version in 1964
"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" sang by Nina, has a strong meaning of analyzation that seems like begging for understanding & no assumptions. I think everyone have a badside to them that needs remorse for making mistakes as a human with emotions & not to be looked at, the wrong way. Then, it comes as an apology that no matter what decision is made. I guess, it's still believe you're Angel. I love the 😍song after analyzing the lyrics. I was driven into the lyrics to completely understand. I felt touched by the song I felt I was reliving those same emotions of trials & Tribulations. Tyler Perry used this song for the movie "Acrimony." Thanks for singing Nina.♥️
"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a song written by Bennie Benjamin, Horace Ott, and Sol Marcus for the singer and pianist "Nina Simone", who recorded its first version in 1964. "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" To some, this version of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" carried the subtext of the Civil Rights Movement that concerned much of Simone's work of the time The mid-60s were a time of pure turmoil for this country & this song may reflect just that. I'm glad that the band called the Animals also recorded a different version of this one, which shot up and stayed high on Billboard top 15 in the USA and top 10 in the Uk charts, which led so many people, like me, in finding this original better version of the song. I finally did find it, not knowing she was the original singer to record it. Now, I will look up other music by this amazing artist.

Baby, you understand me now If sometimes you see that I'm mad Don't you know no one alive can always be an angel? When everything goes wrong, you see some bad [Chorus] But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood [Verse 2] You know: sometimes, baby, I'm so carefree With a joy that's hard to hide And then, sometimes, again it seems that all I have is worry And then you're bound to see my other side [Chorus] But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood [Bridge] If I seem edgy, I want you to know I never mean to take it out on you Life has its problems and I get more than my share But that's one thing I never mean to do 'cause I love you [Verse 3] Oh, baby I'm just human Don't you know I have faults like anyone? Sometimes I find myself alone regretting some little foolish thing Some simple thing that I've done [Chorus] I'm just a soul whose intentions are good Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood Don't let me be misunderstood I try so hard So please don't let me be misunderstood

@@clorendabrown4274
So, if Nina Simone hadn’t had a heavy voice, you wouldn’t have loved your voice!?
Hey, beautiful! Don’t say that. You have to love your voice and yourself without anyone making you love ‘em. Always remember you have things other people wish to have. Cheers!
@@will5784 Yeah pretty much but thanks for those kind words. It's always been a struggle and insecurity of mines since I was young. Kids can be so cruel you know so I've always talked in a higher pitch when I would speak to people and still kind of do
@@clorendabrown4274
Well, i know kids and people.
What song exactly?
I discovered Nina Simone 15 years ago and I regret not discovering her sooner. Nina Simone is a beautiful song, she is magnificent star, she is the whole world. I wish everyone peace from Russia, and try not to think badly of us!
I love this! Thank you for sharing. People forget that life has nuances, and I don't think badly of you or anyone from Russia. Sending love and positivity from the USA.
@@leavemealone853 Thank you very much! I wish happiness and love to all the people of America, all the honest and kind people of our planet!
I gotta repeat this song at least 5 times every time I listen to it... true definition of art.
She is an amazing artists who's voice reflects emotion and feelings with every breath and word
Ela é incrível
I heard her voice in the intro to "Misunderstood" by Lil' Wayne. I had to find out who she was. Her voice is so pure and beautiful
@Bill Jones Shut the fuck up bill
honestly to me both songs definitely have their right to exist.
@Bill Jones Furthermore, with what I say, don't let me be misunderstood ;)
This is not just a song, this is the voice of the heart
Nina Simone truly sings with her soul. She gives me chills every time.

Over fifty years old and I still want people, loved ones, friends, strangers, everyone to be able to see something more than my angular exterior in me, I want so much not to be misunderstood.
Thank you Nina, this song hits me so deep, always.
your comment is so near to my heart. I wish you a lot of understanding from other people I believe it's one of the most important things💔
@@liftedbodhisattva Thanks, I think I understand you well, you're right, I believe in God, only a relationship with Him can set me free, with each passing year I feel that only God can fully understand me. Yes, I am still listening now. She had the greatest female voice in the world and I think this may be my favourite, I might go as far as saying this is the best version I have ever heard of any song. Emotion, pathos, hardship, range and above all talent .... frankly overwhelming.
I have borderline personality disorder and I love Ms. Nina Simone. This song describes my life.
Same girl 😭 especially the “sometimes I find myself alone regretting some little foolish thing, some simple thing that I’ve done” .. people with bpd know that all too well. 😢 I feel every lyric in this song
Feel this on such a deep level.

I hope you understood

Facts
I love Lana but on this one, I don't understand. How can you be excited that this or this singer will cover this song?
No one can do as good as Nina. She got that unique velvet yet powerful, jazzy, low-pitched voice.
Thank you baby, that's why it's the original!!!
Fakes can never over take the original, unless the so-called original is a fake itself........
RedEye That's very subjective. I believe Lana can do it.
Nina's voice singing this song makes my heart ache and I just want to cry. Pure soul
She's literally pouring herself out....
She does indeed. But it begs the question why someone so open would worry about being misunderstood, as she clearly did. It is not just the song title -- she really did seem to worry about it.

"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a song written by Bennie Benjamin, Horace Ott and Sol Marcus for the American singer-songwriter and pianist Nina Simone, who recorded the first version in 1964
❤
Made popular by The Animals
❤
oh man she is heavenly... I wish we had more music like this playing in the radio
Tyler Perry used this song for the movie "Acrimony." Thanks for singing Nina.♥️
you can really feel the sadness in her voice. damn...
"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a song written by Bennie Benjamin, Horace Ott, and Sol Marcus for the singer and pianist "Nina Simone", who recorded its first version in 1964. "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood"
To some, this version of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" carried the subtext of the Civil Rights Movement that concerned much of Simone's work of the time The mid-60s were a time of pure turmoil for this country & this song may reflect just that.

If sometimes you see that I'm mad
Don't you know no one alive can always be an angel?
When everything goes wrong, you see some bad
[Chorus]
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
[Verse 2]
You know: sometimes, baby, I'm so carefree
With a joy that's hard to hide
And then, sometimes, again it seems that all I have is worry
And then you're bound to see my other side
[Chorus]
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
[Bridge]
If I seem edgy, I want you to know
I never mean to take it out on you
Life has its problems and I get more than my share
But that's one thing I never mean to do 'cause I love you
[Verse 3]
Oh, baby I'm just human
Don't you know I have faults like anyone?
Sometimes I find myself alone regretting some little foolish thing
Some simple thing that I've done
[Chorus]
I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

She shared her deepest core with us. The older I get the more layered it becomes. Have to shed a tear each listen. Nobody like Ms. Nina Simone. May she continue to rest in peace.
Such a priceless jewel that was treated horribly by america and robbed by america that she had to move to europe where she died penniless, and now they sell her songs and make millions off of them. Unfortunately she was misunderstood. R.I.P High Priestess of Soul as Aretha Franklin named her.
OSSAM BYER I have good news for you . She actually died wealthy! Towards the end she made a great decision of hiring a lawyer can’t recall his name, but for the last ten years she had bank.
I felt it I was just thinking if this woman rich
She was a great artist but as far as I know she was abusive to her daughter and had extreme political ideas...at least that’s what I’ve read
@@jaye20 she didnt have extreme political ideas???? She wanted equality and justice. She demanded to be treated equally from a world that never was. Whats wrong with being so fed up that you dont want to passively march and be ignored. Theres nothing extreme about it. Some people take it lying down and so scratch and bite back. Her daughter is an abomination.
Julio Cesar Jimenez honestly I’ve read general stuff on the internet and even on Wikipedia it’s reported that she supported violent revolution but if you have a reference to a book or documentary I’ll check...I normally just listen to her songs because I love her voice and only recently I started reading about her life
