Your videos are just excellent. Bravo. I respect anyone who is a content creator, but I don't subscribe to too many of them, but you've definitely earned my sub. Quick, clear, to the point. Thank you!
Thank you. This was very helpful. I am an interactive digital media production student and this is all a learned process. It can seem overwhelming sometimes, lol
Davinci, the best video editor in the universe with the worst file management system in the universe. So bad that it needs a 12min video (that needs to be watched a few times) for someone to just explain how to manage your files, a matter that should take 10 seconds to get your head round. Cubase (audio editor) had this NAILED twenty years ago. Twenty! When you drag a clip into the project, it automatically copies it into the project folder, inside a folder called "audio". Job done. Move the project folder anywhere you want, and it will just load right up, because the project document and all the bits that go with it ALL LIVE IN THE SAME FOLDER. Done!! Like DUH. See? Instantly comprehensible, ten seconds to explain, minimal margin for error. That is what the customer wants. Do not give them anything else! No excuses, no explanations. Just make it work. I'm just hoping someone from the company sees this comment. TY for this video, they should be paying you.
Love your videos, I learn so much, thank you!! Unrelated question, when I output to a second monitor with video cleanfeed, the image has lots of banding, what must I do to get rid of it?
Great vid! So in drp you bring with you the files of the media pool but if you move their position on your computer they are not going to link, you have to do it manually. With project archives instead, if you move a file's position it's going to link automatically. Is that right?
Great!, question: The data base doesnt automatically backs up the stills galleries and power grades. Is there a setting I am missing or is this just not possible and has to be done manually?
Is there any performance increase to have the database saved on another drive other than c:? For example, I have cache on a separate m.2 drive instead of c: so they dont compete for storage resources.
Thanks! Very helpful. Quick question: When creating a project archive using Davinci 16 (not yet upgraded to 17), does it also retain all the folder structures that were created in the Project, including the Media file/folders, or is this a Davinci 17 feature only? UPDATE: 2nd question. You mention that the archive will save media used and not used. Is this also true in Davinci 16? I thought only media used in the project gets archived?
I have a task of creating a Video Department of 3 editors in a tech start up company. I would really like to use Davinci as the NLE, but I have doubts about collaboration. Previously I worked on a similar position in another company with Premiere Pro and we were able to send project files to each other. So, as far as I understand, it is possible to do just the same thing, using .drp files?
Great Information! Thank you for taking the time on this topic. In the spirit of good organization, can you move a project from one data base to another, example would be project-X is in Database A but now I realized Project-X needs to be in Data Base B, can this be done?
I don't think you can do it as a batch, but you can export project and import that project into a different database just as long as the database is the same or newer version.
By mistake I deleted my project file from Resolve Local Database, Can I recover my deleted project from Resolve Project Backups folder i.e. by opening Project.db file
yes!!! I'm first!! LOL! Just a simple question Jay... How i can setup a collaborative workflow using two workstation with installed davinci 17 free with shared qnap nas? I installed a postrgre sql on qnap but i can't create from my pc a correct sql database. I can't change my user and passwork and last but not least the right ip tat's always 127.0.0.0 :( thanks!
Pretty sure the free version does not allow this, only the paid version. Edit: I have been corrected, starting at 5:03, apparently collaboration is available in the free version with 17. Nice!
@@DionV hi! No. Sadly I have to write that this isn't possible. I mean, if you create a simple disk database on a nas in shared folder, more clients can open same projects at the same time, but it doesn't work well because the system don't lock or unlock portion of program (color page, fusion, ecc). The best thing to do is to create a postgresql on Nas or to workstation and enable the shared permission :) Edit: obviously using studio version..
GUYS, any of you have ever encounter the situation of "Unable to import project. Failed to create temporary folder." this occurs when i export project from imac to dropbox, and then retrieve project from DB on Macbook pro. However, opening the same project on imac is totally fine.
Definitely helpful. I learned a lot. Thanks 4 sharing! Cheers !! 😎😎😎
Thanks, this is what I was looking for :D
This is super on time!!! Thanks JayAreTV
You're welcome!

Stuff I need to know! Thank you. I lost my default database when I replaced a local drive. It took me hours to figure out what file I was looking for.

This puzzle me a lot too, esp I am now learning Davinci in iPad and they are a bit different...
