John’s purpose in John 3:22-30 is to record John’s testimony when his disciples came with concerns that the crowds were all going to Jesus. John responds by telling them that he joyfully welcomes this reality, as it is what he had been seeking and it is the result of the Father’s will to give the people to Jesus. As a premier example of how to be a faithful witness to Christ, John shows us that a faithful Christian witness seeks, welcomes, and rejoices in the exaltation of Jesus.
