Green day is one of my favorite bands. It isn't just because of good music it is also how they talk about things nobody talks about and don't put a sugar coating on it. They just say what they want to.
Michelle Ransom I'm pretty sure everyone's talking about trumps presidency and I'd say they're are millions of misinformed/ignorant people out there that express their opinions that are similar to those shown in this video
I like the lyrics “Where's the truth in the written word if no one reads it” like, I had an argument with a dude on UA-cam comment section and I wrote some facts and the dude outright rejects it and said “i won't read your long ass paragraph but I'll just assume that you...” and I was like dude, if you knew you're in the wrong, please at least read the comments of other people to make things right on your behalf
They speak their minds, and make pretty boring rock music, compared to Flux of Pink Indians (Angry, loud, and political), or Bomb The Music Industry. I understand why people would like it, especially if they hadn't spent to much time digging into more obscure kinds of music, but overall, it's nothing to write home about, and the lyrics are so generic, they can be interpreted to support almost any ideology from Fascism and racism to anarchism and egalitarianism. (Just listen to the song over propaganda, and you get the same message, the world's broken, and we need to _____)
***** The First one's a hardcore punk group, although i get not liking them, shouting vocal aren't for anyone, but it does get easier when you can actually understand what the singer's saying (Compared to "like hardcore Boys, I like boys hard core", Flux's vocals sound like a church choir) Bomb the Music Industry is also a punk group, but they played a bunch of other styles as well (Listen to "Sweet Home Canada", "I Don' Love you Anymore", "Even Winning Feels Bad", "Syke! Life is Awesome", and "It Shits!!!", and you'll see what i mean). As for the last part, yeah, I get what they're trying to do, but overall, it just falls flat. They don't have any clever word play, the guitars are playing the same chords from brain stew, but with a diffrent chord progression, and the lyrics are just painful to read, only talking in vague metaphors that a middle schooler would write in the school poetry contest (It delivers a simple, easily digestible message, but it lacks anything to make it special, or good).
Parker Stetson I get what u say, but I just have to say that everyone has different taste and for some people this might just be the best band in the world. My personal favourites of the new album are still breathing and ordinary world and for me it doesn't really matter if some parts of the song may or may not have already been part of another earlier song because there are only so many melodies and stuff u can write there have to be repetitions. so when there's a song that moves something inside me or inside anyone just because the melody is beautiful or the lyrics happen to be related to smthg big or a problem or whatever in somebody's live it is a good song. maybe you don't think but this doesn't really matter to all the people that get something by listening to the song :-)
This reminds me why I started loving Green Day so much when I was in my teens. Way before I came to study mass communications, Green Day is the one who first made me more media-savvy and politically aware. Forever thankful to GD for shaping me into the person I am today.
Ironic how the band that told you not to listen to the mainstream media (which is exactly what they do anyway) made you "media-savvy" and that you're thankful for that
okay but the first line in this song "what good is love and peace on earth when it's exclusive?" was literally on a sign during women's march, that is honestly great.
Annika Schenberg its not great. If you want peace and love on earth, move to a different planet. There will never be peace and love on earth because there will always be people who disagree, and there must be both good and bad to keep balance within the world.
Yeah... no, back in the day Green Day songs were not only about "weed, women and jacking off". On Dookie alone you've got songs like Welcome to Paradise (about the demonization of slums), Coming Clean (about being bisexual), She (heavily inspired by a feminist poem), Basket Case (about the social anxiety Billie Joe suffers) and Having a Blast (which offers a very explicit metaphor on suicide bombers). The same can be said about Insomniac and Nimrod. Not to mention Warning is much more politically charged than American Idiot. You could make your case around 39/Smooth and Kerplunk, but the songs were super cheesy and not really the image you're painting here.
This song really moves me. It's actually scary because most of this is true. I love the line "What good is love and peace on earth if its exclusive". Love the message this song sends.
I like the line “what part of history we learn if it’s repeated” especially considering things like the holocaust seem like they might be being repeated as trump is doing a lot of things hitler did in his early days except trump is much richer and much more powerful

I'm 12 and a girl I have a dad who has serrius issues and gave me issues when I first discovered good music was bolavrd of broken dreams I cried because I reminded me of my dad and I wanted to thank you guys u gave Me the love for good music I never heard good music until u guys and I relized what I was missing I thank you so much☺
Mike Honaker listen u didnt have to read my comment i was just thanking them its people like you who have made youtube a hate place ok so shut the fuck up ya i have issues but im more nomal then u will ever be you fucking internet troll 😠
people are so dumb. Green Day comes out with an album called "REVOLUTION Radio" and people still never got the message that maybe the whole album would be a little....yanno....revolutionary?
***** I think what people want is a democracy so that when they tell us "WE THE PEOPLE" ....it's us electing the president. Not the majority from each state. (Electoral vote.)
It is these days. Revolution is coming my friend, no more rich oligarchy. You guys voted for populism, but didn't get it. Can't you see that? Lobbyists, goldman sach, oil ceos in his cabinet and you think you won?
Goldman Sachs paid Hillary roughly a hundred thousand dollars to make one speech. She's under their control. Trump is a neocon, Israeli ass-kissing cumstain, but he's a thousand times better than Shillary.
And because terrorist may or may not make it to the states is no reason to go unamerican and turn this country into a theocracy. Frankly the majority of terrorist that have been found here, are 99% american born. We played into terrorisms hands.
I'm actually in a English class in France and our teacher asked us to listen to this song, very accurate representation of this troubled year that we're living in especially in France
I mean, he obviously gives a shit about any celebrity who dares speak against him so frankly, it's not far fetched that crybaby can't handle criticism.
Obama made this country a joke. He created a power vacuum in the middle east simply because he wasn't willing to stand up to countries that now have nuclear facilities thanks to him. He has also been border line antisemitic in his policies regarding Israel and foolish with trading deals. That's not to mention all of his failures at home and his generally weak presidency. Trump may be a fool, but at least he'll be one with a spine. Thank god Obama's finally gone.
i love the fact that greenday came back after years and still sing about things that actually matter instead of lamborghinis and caviars like the rest of the artists these days. much respect!
Maurice Flores Kinda like how a celebrity reality star who never held public office is now president. I'd rather commentary without expirience than action without expirience.
Not really... there are fucked up places on earth, but let's be honest. Troubled times are like the twentieth century. A war here and there, some revolutions pop up etc... today the biggest problem for most first world countries citizens is that there is no milk or ham in the fridge.
Dimitry's Place you obviously live a very spoiled & sheltered life if those are your biggest problems. Meanwhile, many of your fellow citizens -- yes, even in first world countries -- are facing sexism, sexual assault, racism, discrimination, homelessness, poverty, starvation, abuse, etc.
Zephyr Drew oh I would have never guessed that the black lives matter, anti trump, no fascist USA band Green Day would release an anti trump video on mlk day
I am glad that they are channeling a bit of "American Idiot" for these Troubled Times. We need more music like this, music is a powerful force for change in the public consciousness. Also, the video is great, it reminds me of the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
I have to admit, I don't love this song but this video is amazing! I love how Green Day isn't afraid to take a stand against what they know is wrong, when so many people are fine with just letting these things continue. I will forever be a fan.
Juan Urazan Yep, only thing you would have lost is this very bleh music video, which feels like if Float On was made by a group of less talented, and less creative animators.
We get it, you hate Green day, and liked them better before the made Warning. and most of their fans are probably teenagers who are also liberals. Unless you plan actually criticizing the music for it's poor quality (Lackluster music that mostly is made of a distorted, simplified version of "My Guitar Gently Weeps", the fact that the lyrics lack any direct support of their claim that "we live in troubled times", the fact that the video's nothing special, etc)
Some President Supporter was bitching about this video have so many politics reference that has relation with revolution... Dude this album name Revolution Radio for a motherfuckin' reason Anyway what wrong with this world.I always hear that they want to make world great again but WTF do we got. Just more war between idiots who can't feed their own people. They just talking, talking, talking and not enough fucking action All I can say is this world has fuck up or more polite tear apart
6 years ago, the damage hadn't been done yet, but anyone who was watching knew where things were going. This song is far more relevant today than it was 6 years ago.
Привет всем с весны 2022. Молдова. Наш город полон беженцами из Украины. Эта песня просто взорвала мне мозг!!! Впервые ее услышала три дня назад. Уж точно, мы живём в смутное время!!!!! Страшно...
Indeed, history many times repeat itself. However, “some things will never overcome if we don’t seek it” so let’s seek for what is worthy for our world❤
@Nikola Leviathan it's really not just about trump, it's about history repeating itself, racism and other forms of bigotry still existing and becoming even more common and hurting more people, and how we as a country have learned absolutely nothing from the past and are making those like Martin Luther King who fought and died for civil rights die for nothing since change is not being made Also, they're artists, they're expressing themselves and their feelings, if they wanna express their feelings about this issue they have every right to, they're not making it for you they're making it for them
@Nikola Leviathan bigotry is not part of our biology Race is a construct created by white imperialist countries to create a hierarchy and to discriminate, some countries literally do not see race or have the concept of race And no form of bigotry is natural, absolutely none
What good is love and peace on earth? When it's exclusive? Where's the truth in the written word? If no one reads it A new day dawning Comes without warning So don't blink twice We live in troubled times We live in troubled times What part of history we learned When it's repeated Some things will never overcome If we don't seek it The world stops turning Paradise burning So don't think twice We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We run for cover Like a skyscraper's falling down Then I wander like a troubled mind What good is love and peace on earth? When it's exclusive Where's the truth in the written word? If no one reads it A new day dawning Comes without warning So don't look twice We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times
I love this song. I am living in Germany and I love it that videos like this are giving the punk bands by America a better call in my family. I have already motivated some of them to come with me to the Green Day Concert in Mannheim tomorrow.
Do you want to tell me that my country is full with refueges? If you mean that or something else in this way then I have to say that I am 100% german and many of my friends were refueges or something else in this way and I had never any problems with them. Sure some are not so friendly but most of them just want to live in a save country. And most are already able to speek german. But if you think that I should just learn something new then I have to say that I dont like this language because she is difficultly and I would never be able to use her
Have all Germans lost their masculinity and pride in their nation or is that just you? Your country has accepted more than 1 million refugees for god's sake. I've been to London and the situation is NOT good, I can't imagine how bad Berlin must be. Native Germans like other white Europeans are not having enough babies, your fertility rates are below a sustainable keeping capacity for a population. While Muslims are notorious for their fertility rates, you keep accepting this many, the Islamic Republic of Germany will exist by 2050. It must be true what they say, all real German men died in WW2, what's left is any empty shell of a culture.
this was really good and showed the problems of the world and how we have race proublums in the us (espically with our new presedent) wars in the middle east and how evryone needs to wake up to these problem s and be more kind to each other.
Wil sim wait how are we manufacturing race problems? we are not the ones who elected a sexsist and islamphobic president who is also racist to black people.
Linus T0rballz librals not being able put togther a coherent argument? really well it sems all you can do is make up fake or false facts and when someone points out a flaw all you can do is swear and scream untill the other person gets sick of you and walks away. example "fuck off" -Linus TOrballz 2017
It's still the album that got Green Day into the mainstream, and it just shows how long Green Day has been around. The point is further exaggerated when you take into account that Green Day existed half a decade before the release of Dookie.
I don't see why Green Day is getting all this hate, they are not the first ones to express their disapproval of Trump. Let's all admit that there are problems that need to be fixed, America is doing a terrific job but there is so much more that we choose not to do. If it wasn't for people standing up against authorities, America would have been a dictatorship long ago. It didn't start with Trump, and won't end with him.
It's just so over-simplistic. There are so many important and valid criticisms that could be made of Trump. But this video instead just seems to imply that criticising Islam makes you comparable to the KKK. Criticising a religion you don't agree with is in no way the same as murdering people because of their skin colour.
What good is love and peace on earth? When it's exclusive? Where's the truth in the written word? If no one reads it A new day dawning Comes without warning So don't think twice We live in troubled times We live in troubled times What part of history we learn When it's repeated Some things will never overcome If we don't seek it The world stops turning Paradise burning So don't think twice We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We run for cover Like a skyscraper's falling down Then I wonder like a troubled mind What good is love and peace on earth? If no one reads it A new day dawning Comes without warning So don't look twice We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times We live in troubled times
I love seeing all of the triggered people complain about how trash this is when it's better than most music these days and actual speaks the minds of half the country
I really want to give a thumbs up for the awesome song AND the artist that makes these lyric videos of 'Revolution Radio'-album. They are just amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
XXLORDIKXX there are tones of wars. People in Africa and other places don't have food or homes and there is way more hate then love right know so yea we live in trouble times
This is why i love green day, they're one of the few bands that actually point out problems in politics and life in general, and they still stay punk and awesome
The music video is very inspiring, I think it's my favorite. What I especially liked is the fact that they are inspired by their old albums like that of Warning, I find it super and very original ! Green Day forever. 🤘🏼🎸
Tom Ingham I'm not sure how people can say that they love this song but then get upset about the content of the video and lyrics. It literally is 100% about politics. That's Green Day for you, if people are truly fans they'd know.
No no, I think that singing " BABY, BABY, BABY OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH *intense teenage orgasm*. Is a way more valuable since mani ppl can relate you knov dat r8?

***** I think what people want is a democracy so that when they tell us "WE THE PEOPLE" ....it's us electing the president. Not the majority from each state. (Electoral vote.)
Hating Trump isn't exactly revolutionary.

Very interesting and artistic video! I like the imagery. And yes, we do live in such troubled times.
Yes. Obama's USA has been very troubled
Well now you're going back to the Bush era of being a joke country
HiThereLindsey We really do live in troubled times. Someone should fix it.
Why don't you try and do something?
Obama made this country a joke. He created a power vacuum in the middle east simply because he wasn't willing to stand up to countries that now have nuclear facilities thanks to him. He has also been border line antisemitic in his policies regarding Israel and foolish with trading deals. That's not to mention all of his failures at home and his generally weak presidency. Trump may be a fool, but at least he'll be one with a spine. Thank god Obama's finally gone.

Reb Domine I could not agree more, our world is so fucked up and corrupt that it almost seems impossible to fix it
Not really... there are fucked up places on earth, but let's be honest.

@Nikola Leviathan it's really not just about trump, it's about history repeating itself, racism and other forms of bigotry still existing and becoming even more common and hurting more people, and how we as a country have learned absolutely nothing from the past and are making those like Martin Luther King who fought and died for civil rights die for nothing since change is not being made
Also, they're artists, they're expressing themselves and their feelings, if they wanna express their feelings about this issue they have every right to, they're not making it for you they're making it for them
@Nikola Leviathan bigotry is not part of our biology
Race is a construct created by white imperialist countries to create a hierarchy and to discriminate, some countries literally do not see race or have the concept of race

I love this song. I am living in Germany and I love it that videos like this are giving the punk bands by America a better call in my family. I have already motivated some of them to come with me to the Green Day Concert in Mannheim tomorrow.
A German huh? You're in for a major demographic change in the future there buddy, better start learning Arabic.
