    • @Thesgfire
      @Thesgfire 3 роки тому +2

      @@drjustinleedpt there are no cons with SNF’s right now, especially with COVID. Time clocks are being removed, you never have to stress out if the patient is waiting for you in the lobby because you’re working OP ortho and only have 30 mins per patient and can’t get everything done with the documentation (as you were saying in your prior video). Your schedule is super flexible and not stressful at all, the pay is WAY higher (in Cali you can find in house places giving $50 per hour with benefits), you’re the one that chooses when to see the patients, you can actually enjoy lunch without any stress 😂 it’s nice

      I would say it depends on where you are working. I think I remember that you are not in the United States? In the United States if you want to work as a sports physical therapist, you have to have your doctorate degree which is three years after undergrad. Then to make yourself competitive among other applicants, typically sports physical therapist will go through a residency and an additional fellowship after that. But it also depends on what level of sports physical therapy you want to go to. If you wanna work with the pros, you definitely have to have all of that experience. However if you want to just work at a sports clinic, having your doctorate degree works!

      I've found that work-life balance and ability to take time off really depends on your setting and your employer. The most flexibility will come from working for a non-profit hospital or HH agency, and the highest demands on your time will likely come from working for a for-profit corporation (OP ortho or SNF).

      The work life balance as a physical therapist is actually pretty good! Most therapist find that they are able to spend time with family outside of work. When it comes to travel and vacation, you will accrue a time off and sickly, so you can utilize those things to take time off to travel with your family. Just like any job, you have to find it out and make sure your employer is flexible and accommodating to your schedule

    Thank you for this video. I have a quick question. What are your thoughts on applying to schools that are currently not accredited? There is a school near my area that is a “candidate for accreditation” and has its first graduating class in 2022. Is it worth it to go to those schools? What are the risks, if any?

    • @drjustinleedpt
      @drjustinleedpt  3 роки тому

      It’s definitely a risk to apply to schools that are not currently accredited because there’s a chance that the accreditation might not go through. The reason why it is important for school to be a credit it is because you need that accreditation in order to sit down for a licensing exam, which is super important LOL However, to my knowledge I have not heard of any schools that did not get accredited when they were in the candidate phase. Typically the schools that are pending the accreditation have a higher acceptance rate. Which is beneficial for you because it’s a higher chance that you get accepted!
