Let's analyze master's paintings and figure out which colors did he use for each work. Even though Andrew's palette looks monochromatic often many different colors must be used.
I was privileged to visit Mr. Wyeth's studio in 1976. He allowed me to examine his painting box and note what colors he actually used. He used a mix of watercolor tubes and gouache tubes (W&N "Designers Colors" back then). There was only one red in his box at the time - burnt sienna, but I believe he used Permanent Red Gouache from time to time. He didn't have any cadmium colors because he used his fingers to smear passages and felt they might be dangerous. Instead of Cadmium Yellow Deep he used Yellow Ochre, an earth color. He pretty much had the same array of colors in both watercolors and gouache and switched back and forth, intermixing them, in many of his paintings. His favorite drybrush painting was Young Hare by Albrecht Durer, and he studied it a lot when he was younger.
Thank you,, interesting to see this analysis.

I do this all the time. Thank you
What is the reason to have the black stripe on the swatches? Interesting video, thanks.
I think it's to show the transparency level of each paint.
Exactly, this way you can see if the paint opaque or rather transparent.
