I know everyone's been giving much praise and I just have to say this. I feel so lucky to have Mike be the new host. His playing is so phenomenal, I look forward to hearing it all day.
Me too man. I’ve never sat down and specifically looked for the GOTD video every night but that’s exactly what I’ve been doing now. Lemmo is an absolute joy to watch and listen to.
Loved Mark. When he had the show I watched for the guitars and for Mark’s personality. Now I watch just for Lemmo’s playing. Used to be if I didn’t much care for the guitar being featured, I would skip that day. Now I watch no matter what.
Matt Hutcheson yeah good point. I find it disrespectful people continue to comment how “Lemmo so much better than Agnesi” “GOTD is so much better now without Mark”. I cringe at those comments.
I watched Tim Piece play this same guitar in his studio. It sounded just as awesome , talk about clear tone. Michael is one heck of a guitarist songwriter and host. Time for a raise Norm,LOL
I can see now why Wes Montgomery played with his thumb. That guitar picks up almost every extraneous sound. You gotta love that thing!? Just beautiful in every way...
Mike and Jen, I can't thank you enough for featuring an archtop, especially this L-5. There are so many great and classic vintage archtops sitting on the floor and hanging on the walls at NRG. I hope we get to see more archtops more often.
Please, please, please do more jazz stuff, you're more than jazzy enough for my tastes in tunes!!! Jen, fabulous camera work and extra commentary and that guitar!,...I almost cried when I saw the back, Holy Flamage!! Once again I'm moved and looking forward excitedly for Thumping Thursday, and we're happy you're here too, Michael!!!🎶🎶🎸♥
Sincere thanks for balancing the range of guitars and music genres - it's really appreciated by the music pros and the rest of us! This is a superb video.
Little pillows on my ear, indeed. Mark started a great tradition here with Guitar of the Day, but you're taking it to a really great place, Michael. Thank you.
Today was like listening to perfect 1950s music a little jazz and a lot of great playing. Norm you really surround yourself with talented people. People that seem to love you and the atmosphere of Norm's rare guitars. Everyone has a smile it must be contagious. Love watching
Hey, do you know the song he played for Roses and Cigarettes tribute just a few days ago? Norm said it was a Lemmo song and I'm looking for it. It was an acoustic song joined by 2 other Norms employees.
Brandon Stroud I watched the one a few weeks ago with him playing that beautiful 6 string bass thingy about 5 times, shared it about three times, and then searched other videos on YT with that bass. Mike is doing great!
Just the fact it was Les’s personal jazz box makes it very special indeed . It has great clarity from the lowest register to sparkling highs (shocking) and Michael’s breadth of playing styles is sick, he always plays something that highlights the instrument being demonstrated. Norm is lucky to have him as his guitar slinger.
Lemmo is to a guitar what Picasso is to a paintbrush...whenever he picks one up, another masterpiece is created! A superb instrument in the hands of a superb artist! I'm sure both Les and Wes are proud!
Love it. I had stopped watching this show for a while, but I'm really impressed with this new host. Tasty licks. He can rock but does so much more. Love it! Keep this up!
I think you did Wes and Les proudly. That is one beautiful looking and especially sounding guitar. I had the pleasure of meeting Les several times when I lived in northern NJ, worked with and knew his Grandson, Stephen.
I'll always have love and respect for mark's contributions to guitar of the day and wish him the best, that said, you are a fantastic new host, excellent guitar, beautiful playing. thanks
I have to say what I loved about mark was he had that rock n roll swagger with a love for the instrument and industry and of course he has that blue collar playing style. Mike has a more sweet nature (of course we only get a glimpse of him) but his playing style is a cut above. Mike has (if he doesn’t already) a great career as a studio musician if he wants it. Who wouldn’t want him playing on their next record? I’m also sure he was bit by the same bug as mark, myself and many others where you live, eat, and breath guitar all day and night to the detriment of those around you. Here I am at 11pmEST in my bathroom watching this on my iPhone while playing my fender strat unplugged just because I love it that much. My guitars have exclusive rights to my hands and any woman I’m seeing has to know that first and I usually tell them and they laugh at it but they all eventually learn. My priorities are messed up In a relationship for me which is God, guitars, and everything else gets in line. I have serious health issues and it’s not likely I’ll live another 5 years right now and my biggest concern is where my guitars will go as well as my cat. Anyways, sometimes playing guitar is a terrible curse but most days I’m just thankful for having it in my life. It really keeps me going sometimes. Great playing Mike! Maybe next time tell us what amp, amp settings and any pedals you’re using? Just a thought
wow, Lemmo playing an L-5 is a lesson in composition and getting some personal tones from each position on the selector switch. He uses tone to compose which is today's master class lesson. The 57s are much brighter than the patent applied for pick-ups from earlier L-5s Great GOTD, thanks Jen for bringing it to us day in day out, you're the best.
I met Les Paul at my college graduation in 97 in NJ. Also knew his son who lived in our town. He was a bit mad but very friendly. I once played his guitar while he played Buddy Rich's old drum set. It was surreal. On his answering machine, he recorded himself playing Van Halen. Lemmo would be proud.
The difference between just playing the guitar and making music with the guitar is here ... impressed and surprised every time - i love this new formula of GOTD.
All 3 tunes were good....but that 3rd was outstanding - really dig it! Nice job M.L.!!!!! Your excitement about guitars makes people get excited about playing!!!
Dings on a Les Paul = price goes down.
Les Paul dings on an L-5 = price goes up.
Les Paul's dings... price goes up. Lemmo's dings... price goes down (maybe???)...
Lol, took a minute to sink in.
Just buy a fookin relic!
Man Lemmo really has touch. I’m in love with this show again.
I agree, it is all about matching the music to the guitar. Very entertaining Mr. Lemmo
I know everyone's been giving much praise and I just have to say this. I feel so lucky to have Mike be the new host. His playing is so phenomenal, I look forward to hearing it all day.
Who is Mike, it's Lemmo ;)
Me too man. I’ve never sat down and specifically looked for the GOTD video every night but that’s exactly what I’ve been doing now. Lemmo is an absolute joy to watch and listen to.

I watched Tim Piece play this same guitar in his studio. It sounded just as awesome , talk about clear tone. Michael is one heck of a guitarist songwriter and host. Time for a raise Norm,LOL
jon lennon the only thing Norm pays extra for is a happy ending
That was episode 661 (11/29/18) when Tim was the first GOTD guest host.
Those were some tasty jazz chords! Very impressive. Lemmo, you're killing it every time!
Is this anyone else’s favorite Lemmo demo? Outstanding
Yesss ! Bumpin on Sunset really got to me
I can see now why Wes Montgomery played with his thumb.
Thomas Nettleton Second this recommendation

Once again I'm moved and looking forward excitedly for Thumping Thursday, and we're happy you're here too, Michael!!!🎶🎶🎸♥
Not an "imprint," on the tailpiece. That, my friend, is genuine hand-engraved "L-5!"
You're awesome kid, stay at it!
One of the smoothest guitar sounds out there👍
every episode lemmo gets better. this one was so good. plus the guitar doesn't hurt either.
You can't go wrong with a L-5… Can't go wrong with Mike Lemmo either. He's more subtle and original than Mark (who does deserve my respect) IMHO.
Awesome sounding guitar. Pulling out some Wes. Now that's respect.
Sincere thanks for balancing the range of guitars and music genres - it's really appreciated by the music pros and the rest of us! This is a superb video.
Wes Montgomery's "Bumpin on Sunset" and been changed to "Bumpin in Tarzana" with Michael Lemmo. Well done! More jazz, please.
The new sound of Ventura Blvd!
Guitar Center clerk:
"Who are your top 3 favorite. guitar players?"
Me:
1. "Lemmo"
2. "Mike Lemmo"
3. "Michael Lemmo"
Wow, best playing yet, amazing delicate touch, keep it up Lemmo!
You're a jazzer , simply beautiful. Stay humble
Little pillows on my ear, indeed. Mark started a great tradition here with Guitar of the Day, but you're taking it to a really great place, Michael. Thank you.
Another great video, Michael. I love how sympathetically you approach every guitar.
Such smoooooth playing. I’ve listened to it a few times and it gets better each time.
Today was like listening to perfect 1950s music a little jazz and a lot of great playing. Norm you really surround yourself with talented people. People that seem to love you and the atmosphere of Norm's rare guitars. Everyone has a smile it must be contagious. Love watching
Just a most wonderful guitar, probably one of the best Norm ever had. My absolute dream !
Last song is “Philadelphia” by Lemmo. He had the recorded version on his soundcloud but then took it off :(
Hey, do you know the song he played for Roses and Cigarettes tribute just a few days ago? Norm said it was a Lemmo song and I'm looking for it. It was an acoustic song joined by 2 other Norms employees.
skyisland I do not know the name of that song unfortunately, great jam though
First time I've watched one of these twice
Brandon Stroud I watched the one a few weeks ago with him playing that beautiful 6 string bass thingy about 5 times, shared it about three times, and then searched other videos on YT with that bass. Mike is doing great!
Mike you look like you're feeling more comfortable doing GOTD, and sounding so good.
That last piece had the Journey "Who's Crying Now" in the middle, loved it... Fantastic playing and what a stunning guitar
This guitar is perfection. It sounds like heaven
dude is an amazing player for his age. congrats for landing this sweet gig man, I love listening to you play these amazing instruments.
The tone of that guitar with the last tune was so beautiful.
Lemmo is to a guitar what Picasso is to a paintbrush...whenever he picks one up, another masterpiece is created! A superb instrument in the hands of a superb artist! I'm sure both Les and Wes are proud!
Kinell! How much talent and skill can one man have?? Enthralling.
Love it. I had stopped watching this show for a while, but I'm really impressed with this new host. Tasty licks. He can rock but does so much more. Love it! Keep this up!
I always wondered what the "L" meant when Gibson named the L5. Now I know. L is for Lemmo!
Suzanne & Tom Dietz you beat me to it! 😂
I think you did Wes and Les proudly. That is one beautiful looking and especially sounding guitar. I had the pleasure of meeting Les several times when I lived in northern NJ, worked with and knew his Grandson, Stephen.
I could listen to this guy play all afternoon. Wonderful stuff.
I stopped watching Norms videos a long time ago. (No offense to Mark) But now they're literally binge-worthy, all because of this Lemmo guy.
I'll always have love and respect for mark's contributions to guitar of the day and wish him the best, that said, you are a fantastic new host, excellent guitar, beautiful playing. thanks
I’m convinced now that Lemmo is a perfect choice for GOTD WHAT A PLAYER!!!
WOW, That guitar sounds amazing!

Fantastic video, amazing guitar, so beautiful guitar.
You look awesome.
Thanks for your wonderful video.
Sweet sweet jazz sounds. Thanks Lemmo for such beautiful playing

Another beautiful work of art... Stunning
Different day different technique... Well played Lemmo... and the camera girl rocks!!!
Mesmerising as always... awesome playing.

Beautiful guitar. Beautiful sound. Beautiful playing!
You go kid!!! It's about time we heard some good archtop playing.
I can sit and listen to Lemmo play alllll day...
Mike just blew away every single demo Mark ever did for GOTD. Slick licks!
Once again..I feel so lucky to have gotten to hear M. Lemmo.
The difference between just playing the guitar and making music with the guitar is here ... impressed and surprised every time - i love this new formula of GOTD.
Beautiful tone and amazing playing!
Did not plan on enjoying this as much as I did! Great job 👍
OMG ! That is the most beautiful jazz box I've ever seen ! Lemmo you're a rocker and a jazzer buddy ! Sounded fantastic ! Thanks Jen !
Another great selection of sounds. Thanks.
What I love also is Lemmo don't rush. He plays until he's ready to finish, where as with Mark I felt he would rush through stuff just to get it done.
Wow the pickguard is see through. Never seen that before. Beautiful guitar.
Noticed that too. Very cool!
Been watching mike lemmo,. for a few weeks now, and I'm slowly getting blown away with versatility you have .
days of wine and roses.. superb
very nice guitar and a tasteful job on the neck pick up with your thumb... Wes would be proud.
Love the sounds from this guitar, well played, on my list of pretty to add to the collection
Lemmo you are an amazing guitar player with a wide range of variety!! Keep up the great work!!!
A guitar that both looks AND sounds that good? Didn't think it was possible.
Piece of art, beautiful.
i dig your jazz chops, that guitar as some lovely tones
That's so beautiful, wow!
That's a beauty. Impressive playing as always.
The sound is mind blowing
All 3 tunes were good....but that 3rd was outstanding - really dig it! Nice job M.L.!!!!! Your excitement about guitars makes people get excited about playing!!!
Won't lie, this guys is legit doing a better job than Agnesi.
Desmond Hume both have a unique skillet. Both play very well. With that being said, I do enjoy GOTD a lot with Mike!
Bob Olsen 😂😂😂 too funny! I just saw that. I'm not even going to fix it lol!
hosting skills easily go to mark, but lemmo plays like its nobody's business.
Stupid comment
Lemmo in a league of his own. Brings out the character of each guitar he plays. Agnesi tends to make all his guitars sound the same.
Beautiful guitar and beautifully played. What a sound! 👍🏻
Oh yeah, great sound and very nice smooth playing!
Mike....your perfect for the job. Keep up the great job!
Stunningly beautiful guitar.....wow what a tone. Great touch Mr. Lemmo. You can be a jazzer or anything else you want to be. Love your playing!
Beautiful playing!!
Gorgeous. What a set of tunes an awesome guitar.
Beautiful guitar, great sound, you killing it Lemmo
Really really nice playing. What a beautiful guitar.
You don’t just Play Bumpin’ on Sunset and Lemmo just KIIIILLLLLLED it! Awesome.
Good show, good guitar and and the playing was awesome. Can't wait for tomorrow because it's another guitar of the day.
I wonder what genius is gunna win the T-shirt this week; Lemmo just introduced me to all these songs! Great playing Mike
Well played Michael. A nice jazz tribute. Looking forward to the next video!
Another dope session! Glad we get to hear some of the arch tops jazzin out.
incredible guitar. Incredible player.
Love what Lemmo’s doing on the bridge pickup. Awesome guitar and player!
Killer playing and music choices, Lemmo!
That was beautiful Michael. Thanks man!
Lemmo falling into his own... awesome guitar! Great review! Great playing as usual!!!
What superb feeling Michael. Beautiful -keep at it. Gem mint man.
If I could like this video more than once I would never stop.
Nice playing, Michael. Very nice.
