hey you guys should do a lunch break on how each of the wong fu staff joined the team! interested to hear how each person has changed or if they were wong fu fans too!
graduated a semester earlier than all my friends and 5 months in im still stressed about finding a job or just finding what to do with my life post-grad, this whole video is literally addressing all of my stress at once
I graduated from UCSD, no internships at all, had a 3.0, and got into Pharmacy school. Don’t compare yourself to others. Do what you want to do in college, and have fun! College is a great experience!
Dear people that are stressed about post grad life. If you think HS was stressful or even college, trust me it gets a lot crazier in the workforce. And if you get anxiety about it, it's normal. As an adult, I had to get therapy and take a break from work for my own mental health. These are just ways you learn self care. The stress does make you a stronger person after you experience it. There's no dream job after graduating (unless you're really lucky). Good luck out there! Don't be afraid of hard work!
I just graduated on May 5th, and this first week of post grad has genuinely been wonderful. Moving home, interviewing for jobs, reconnecting with friends, and yes, that joy of knowing I have NOTHING DUE! I've known the career path I want to take since I was 9 years old, so you could say that made things pretty easy throughout school, but it's still JUST as scary as having no idea! Because for me, I have one specific career path and absolutely no backup plan in case it doesn't work. But I am so excited to continue my path and it feels so good to be graduated!
A couple years ago, I started a housing and mentorship program for recent college grads to help them with that transition out of college - establishing social connections, learning to "adult," starting new jobs/grad school, etc. Not every lesson needs to be learned the hard way, so don't be afraid to connect with those coming up behind you and share what you've learned!
My dad cut off all allowances once I finished my final exams so I immediately started working. 😂 I agree with Benson on learning about personal finances, e.g. what’s 401K, IRA, etc. If you’re still in college and you want to start working immediately after graduating, I’d suggest getting some technical skills (especially if they are not offered in school) that’s relevant to your industry during the summer breaks (teach yourself, take courses, apprenticeship, etc.) That helped differentiate me from other candidates which led to an internship and then later my first job. YMMV. 😬
Everything discussed is so true.. Expectations, fears.. Finances! But what really hit home is maintaining friendships, and creating new ones. That is something that I'm still learning, half a decade into adulting. It's difficult, cause it's more personal. But whatever that's meant to be, is meant to be. Stay nice, and the world is a better place for all.
I studied what I loved, got all "A"s and low pay. It was worth it. I am still friends with so many of those great people I meet over the past 40 years--mostly from those earliest days. Gradually, with more education, I shifted to a related field, and more pay. It has been a great ride, and now am ready to try something new! Maybe even some more education. (Growing and new possibilities never stop.)
I just graduated with a desire to go into video production - I have experience and it's still rough to find opportunities. This video has helped me regain some optimism about the job search process, thanks Wong Fu!
I graduated college in 2013 as a sociology major and got a job right after as a technical writer. Then in 2017 I got a chance to switch to a software test engineer writing code. Now I'm planning to do a masters in computer science while working full time. The learning never stops after college and you can always try something different. Good luck to all who are job hunting!
Hi WongFu!!! Can you please do a lunch break talking about how to pick the right college major. I feel like a lot of people struggle with this and it would be nice to hear your insight. Thanks! :)
Literally just graduated college and don't have a job lined up for me but its okay! Everyone has their own timeline, not everyone will have a job out of college but don't worry. Your time will come and you will get to where you want to be if you keep working hard towards your goals. I'll be spending this year traveling the world with my family before I start searching for my lifetime job. hahah
Jenn’s skin is really nice! So true what you study might not be the field you working in ! Everybody is different and situation is different , if you know how to budget plan your finance you’ll be fine , I’m blessed to live in an area where there’s a lot of Asian grocery stores their fruits and veggies are fresh and super cheap ! As well as meat and fish but I eat less that saves a lot of money. If you can handle shift work it’s really worth it cause you can work weekends and public holidays and overtime where you’ll earn extra on the penalty rates down side is sleeping pattern gets screw and my weekends are on the weekdays so hang out with friends need to plan ahead a lot
I FEEL THIS SO MUCH ;___; i graduated from the arts a year ago and transitioning to adulting has been very challenging ;____; thank u for sharing ur experiences guys!!!
thank you four beautiful people for the advice! i’ve got one and a half years left for nursing school, so i’ll definitely rewatch this again sometime later :)
Traveling right after college is perfect! You won't have time or money (or both lol) in the first few years in your new jobs. Unless you're a techie (which, more power to you)
As a graduating student in Japan, the situation is super different. Every single time we go to a company orientation or an interview, we have to wear black suits(My teacher says we look like bunch of working ants walking around) Also, we start job hunting a YEAR BEFORE WE GRADUATE it's honestly crazy It was really nice to know what it's like in the US!! Love all the lunch break episodes:)
Idk if it's bc this is edited very well. But I really like the chemistry of Taylor, Benson, Chris, and Jen. When I listen to Phil, I feel like I'm listening to my dad xD, no offence, Phil!! But Taylor, Benson, Chris, and Jen are awesome together for lunch break for me, haha.
I'm graduating at the end of this month and honestly, the timing of this video couldn't be any more perfect 😭 thanks for this - it really helped calm the nerves (just a little, but still) 🎓😭
Yas! Lots of great advice at this table. They feel like friends who graduated a few years before. Seniors: look up alums in your field and sit down with them for coffee and a chat! This is called informational interviews. Aka business flirting I guess lmao
no need! phil's covered that topic many times already! his advice: don't chase your passion. become passionate about what you chase! just do the things you enjoy and share it! you just might end up somewhere you might not expect along the way! as wong fu always has! :D
Omg that’s so me! I went straight to get a job after I graduated college then I see people traveling after college and I’m like “am I doing something wrong?”
I've legit just come back from having a mental breakdown over getting rejected from a grad scheme that I REALLY wanted... not sure if this is too soon or not to watch this
10:50 , everybody thought that was a good point but I completely disagree; you can't base who's going to be your friend on who can help you get further in life. You should actually seek out people who are completely different from you.
The hardest part about post grad life is honestly work life balance. It's really hard to just see friends, family, ,pursue your dreams, and travel. Time yo............
hey you guys should do a lunch break on how each of the wong fu staff joined the team! interested to hear how each person has changed or if they were wong fu fans too!
Crystal and all of the fans who wanna be in wong fu will be taking notes 📝
OMG YES I'VE ALWAYS WANTED THIS THEME!
Best advice I can give seniors about to graduate: PLS IRON YOUR STOLES BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR CUTE GRAD PHOTOS! the end thank you 😊💕
lol just took grad photos yesterday, I wish I saw this beforehand 😂
Yes!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Pro tip: use your friend's hair straightener for the cheap ribbon sashes.
Finally I am not the only one who is super annoyed by this! Hahaha
I told my friends amd they didnt listen 😌

Did you find a job?

I was in that boat after college, took a gap year, went to grad school. And now Im in that boat AGAIN. School just postpones adult life.
Who else clicked hoping Wong Fu was hiring? 😂😂
If Wongfu looking for a chemist... hit me up lmao
ダンデレ omg or a statistician/accountant??
I love hearing Jenn talk on lunch break~ Jenn please do a vlog series about life advice T_T
Hahah I’ll consider it! TENKU THO 💖

I really hope Yappie has more South Asian representation bc the past Wong Fu stuff hasn’t had the best representation for us. Still v excited!

Jenn is so great to listen to ;~; She's so compassionate and reassuring.
11:00 Jenn's little dance is so cute! 😄
This video gave me anxiety lol I'm going to be a 3rd year college student and I'm not super passionate about my major anymore...
Hannah Keating this gives me anxiety and I haven't even finished High school yet. (Well... only one exam left :D)
Same
@@alex73217 but the difference is that you dont have a major yet, unless by this time you already entered college
Jenn’s skin is really nice!
