Anyone could see from the engagement interview that Meghan hated her engagement ring, bending over it as if she could barely see the diamonds because they were so small. Those words she spoke back then were so disingenuous and nothing much has changed to this day!
Throughout your video the diamonds have gotten bigger and bigger. It doesn’t necessarily mean better or classier. I love art deco rings, but I wouldn’t say no to some of these. Please do another video of engagement rings. For us girls it’s really interesting and it’s nice to imagine and dream.
Wouldn't have wanted Diana's ring as it wasn't given with any love from Charles. The Krupp diamond ring wasn't her engagement ring, just a gift Burton gave Elizabeth
@@BlackStump172 well, the Queen wanted William to wear the Red uniform for his wedding and he did. There are also private wedding photos of him wearing the black uniform which was probably what he and/or Catherine preferred- so there are ways to get what you want and giving your grandmother or even the public what they want too
Elizabeth’s Krupp diamond was NOT her engagement ring with Richard Burton. He didn’t give her an engagement ring, he gave her an emerald and diamond brooch she wore on their wedding day. The Krupp diamond was given as a present for a birthday. But it was her absolute favorite even after receiving the 69ct pear Taylor-Burton diamond.
My favorite is a toss between Grace Kelly’s, and Jackie Kennedy’s. Once Grace Kelly’s ring became famous many women desired an emerald cut diamond ring at the time. My father proposed to my mom in 1963 with an emerald cut Diamond ring, a little over a carat, and the wedding band had baguettes to match. The ring was set in platinum. One day while my brother, and I were entertaining our older cousins at the zoo (they were oh so thrilled), and both of my parents were at work, our house was burglarized. I’m talking windows broken, drawers tossed, everything a complete mess. The ring was gone. The ring started to get tight on my Mom’s finger, she started developing arthritis. It was never found. I had some pieces of my grandmother’s that were taken that day. The feeling is very violating. We didn’t know that there was a burglar ring hitting our area (unincorporated). We also think that my Mom walked in on them, and they dashed out our back door. So things could’ve been worse. I was engaged once. I had hoped to upgrade my ring to resemble my Mom’s as I thought it was the most beautiful ring on the planet. Maybe one day 🤞. Today’s ring styles don’t really do much for me. I like classic 50’s & 60’s rings, something that has a substantial band. Putting a 3 carat diamond on a pave band 1/8” thick just makes no sense… Thanks for the walk down memory lane ✨💍✨
The huge rings weren't attractive as rings, just as conversation pieces for attention-cravers. Kennedy's ring was busy and seemed thrown together with no focal point; it looked more like a cocktail ring, just meant to attract attention without meaning anything profound. Of course, that makes sense since both Kennedys cheated on each other, so perhaps it was an appropriate choice after all. Queen Elizabeth's ring was decidely one of the better designs, especially since it actually affirmed the family connection between past, present and future with its classic design as well as the incorporation of jewels from his family.
@@Deborah-so8mv yes, but usually a “moi et toi” ring has just the 2 stones. But Jackie’s ring has just too much going on- all the surrounding diamonds just look garish.
Oh Yes..... Meghan Markle loved her ring so much that within months she had changed over the band not once but twice. Then later on demanded that a larger diamond be set as 3 carats was not sufficient for her new station in life. That ring does not deserve to be shown on a video like this. It looks cheap and glitzy- not the classy, classic ring that Harry took the time to design and have made for her.
@@carlkoh Meghan decided to get a slimmer band to make the diamonds appear larger. She was quite disappointed at the original, even though it contained 2 diamonds from Princess Diana's collection. She will auction them when her marriage ends.
Diana’s ring was good looking but for Pete’s sake, a prince and as wealthy as he was spent only $35,000???? Back in the 70’s I had a beautiful 2ct+ emerald cut diamond that had an appraisal of $22,000. With all the jewelry in the royal vaults including rings, he could have made an iconic ring for Diana. The ONLY reason it is worth so much today is because it once belonged to Diana.
@ISouza-qs9yy Interestingly enough, we watched a tarot card reading (for entertainment) on Diana's engagement ring. The reading was to see if Diana's ring had any bad vibes to it and it indeed has something negative going on with that ring!!😳 It was also mentioned that hopefully Princess Catherine is wearing A REPLICA, and the authentic ring is LOCKED away in the vault!!😲
Do these rings really matter, when most Of these marriages where a sham and Ended with infidelity, betrayal and divorce. I would rather have a ring that Came from a Cracker Jack box , a good Solid man with principles and a good Marriage forever, at end of the day money does not bring happiness.
I’m with you on that one. Give me a semi precious coloured gem any day. Diamonds are not forever. I’ve been happy with a beautiful emerald cut 8 x 6 Australian teal sapphire, surrounded by diamond chips playing second fiddle to the main event. I’ve had it for 53 years, worn everyday. Even though my husband passed 5yrs ago. It is not the size, nor the value, but the sentiment in which it is given, proudly worn.

What about Melania Trump's 20+ carat Emerald cut ring? Rather special.
Frankly, if a ring makes or breaks a relationship, what does that say about the relationship in the first place?

Jaqueline Kennedy was hardly photographed wearing the ring. Agree it’s more a cocktail ring. In contrast, QE2 was always wearing her ring.
And it was chosen by her father-in-law. That’s horrendous!!

As we can see class and refinement of the user are inversely proportional to the size of the the ring.
