I’m wondering if Sugar’s big secret is that he used to be one of the bad guys and because of that, that’s how his sister died. The line where Sugar said to Davey “She’s your sister, you were supposed to take care of her.”, it almost felt like he was not just saying it to Davey, but to himself too. He has also made statements that he doesn’t like to hurt people in such a weird way like he is trying to remind himself of that because, from that scene where he was beating up that guy, we can clearly see that he has it in him to hurt people. With Ruby deleting all that stuff about Stallings, it could be that she’s protecting Sugar from finding out something about Djen or maybe she’s protecting him from finding out/remembering about himself. I think I’m almost starting to lean towards a robots/AI thing if the story is one of those where Sugar “isn’t human” type thing. Maybe some sort of “experiment” or “new method of rehabilitation for bad people” type thing might be going on. I think I remember something said about that group that Ruby had over, that they were all once enemies or something like that. Maybe this group of people were all really bad people that have been “reprogrammed”. That would explain how they would know so many languages, the flashes of movie scenes that Sugar sees, etc.
My theory is they are Angels and that is why they are supposed to observe. Also would explain them knowing all the languages and Sugar always looking up to the sky.
I never thought of this theory, I was on the alien one, but this one actually makes even more sense to me… Maybe Stallings is a demon with his henchman demons doing what would be considered some of the most evil stuff on earth, human trafficking, and sex slavery, and that’s why he goes to the basement, down below(hell), as opposed to Sugar and his crew of “people” who at the party went up stairs to report in(heaven)
Love the channel, guys. There are simply too many hints that point to a supernatural theme. The name "Djen" is of Arabaic origin, and remember, Sugar tells his driver in LA that he lived in Damascus, when it was a "great city." The quick flashbacks when Sugar is remembering Djen shows a young woman running in very old clothes. Clearly, the people managed by Ruby are in some way, immortal. Sugar is having problems with his left hand, which we're supposed to believe is related to the knife attack in the opening episode, but Ruby wears some sort of ornamental brace on her left hand. There has to be a connection. I think we're being led to believe Sugar and the Polyglot Society members are angels, but I have a hunch they're the opposite. Look at the VERY subtle reactions to Ruby announcing one of the Society's members have learned how to make "Angel Food Cake." There are subtle smirks. Why was Sugar's friend at the party so amazed that he had to have a garlic press? Always remember Chekhov's law, that says every element in a story must be necessary, and irrelevant elements should be removed. A rifle hanging above a fireplace must be fired by the end of the second act. I'm afraid that while neither Sugar nor Ruby are the Devil, they may work for him. They observe humanity to better learn how to manipulate people. Sugar makes it clear he shouldn't be upset with Carl's drug overdose, but is. That's against the mission. At the AA meeting, when Melanie is talking about why people drink and use drugs, right before she says "we're lonely," Sugar's inner dialogue has him saying "THEY'RE lonely" (emphasis mine). He is not a part of humanity, he's observing it. As for Stallings, I don't think he killed Djen, but he could be working for the same people Sugar, Ruby and the Polyglot Society work for...Just a different department. That could be what they need to cover up. Really compelling TV.
He’s a demon/angel. Whenever he says his sisters name, the closed captioning spells it with a d. Djen. As in djinn. Which has an Arabic Origen and the first mention of her was after he spoke with the driver about speaking Arabic.
Im liking the angel theory. I was thinking what if he is part of an experiment. Maybe they give him some drug without his knowledge that makes him a fighting machine
Aliens or angels or alien angels--go back and look at the opening intro. I see alien imagery. When they keep saying when he finds out, could Sugar been the one that caused his sister's death? Not that he intentionally killed her but by him not observing and involving himself that her death was a byproduct of his violence? Also i feel that they've learned much of what they need to play their "character" on earth thru movies. Just some rando thoughts, my two cents. Love yalls recap and review!!!
He is an AI in field tests. Movie, in this theory, are an important training inputs for “Sugar AI”, which is why we get all of the movie cuts and random times. Maybe Sugar is an AI participating in some weird reality/scripted drama? It’s just odd all of the different cinematography styles, camera angles, etc…
Matt I actually think you are close. Remember at the Polyglot Party, Henry suddenly appears when Sugar sets off to open the door "Faux-livia" goes thru. I think Henry is a Scientist on the experiment and Sugar designed the experiment
I’m sticking with my theory that Sugar (and others) are living among us-after being “reborn” in New Bodies. Call it scentific reincarnation. Or, body transference by rogue scientists who are working on an unsanctioned “immortality” project. What Ruby & Miller are in-place to monitor is the effects of the body transfer; thus, the people at the party-who may have connections in the past. Finally, I think Dan & BagFace are on the right track with your belief that Sugar (in his previous body or incarnation) encountered or worked with Stallings-and that connection somehow led to the death of Sugar’s sister. Stallings has no idea who Sugar really is; and Ruby & Miller are trying to make sure Sugar’s previous life’s memories don’t come back.
Sugar and Ruby are divine creatures, either angels or otherwise. Stallings is too. In this theory, angels toil to interpret humanity… conducting experiments like Sugar going about his case (good) and Stallings driving the motives (bad)
Last week Stallings said something to the woman he left behind at his house/apt or whatever to not let anyone in or out of that room (something like that) before kissing her. Olivia is in that room
You must have missed the ending where the parents of Davy said they were going to let him go….meaning they were going to donate his organs since he’s a vegetable.
@@sceneinvaders no idea…. Sounds like vampires but I sure hope it doesn’t go that direction . The writing has been too good for that ! Enjoy your videos !!!!
I think Davy is done, he seems to have shothimself with a 22mm , caliber known to be used by hitman from the mob, the bullet penetrate the skull but doesnt get out instead it will bounce back and destroy the brain, so best case scenario he is a vegetable.
Dudes--I am shocked at what you missed...!!!!!!! Opening scene with Schyler and Davy. She tells him: "YOU are the LAST LIVING MALE in a long line of great men." Now....either Bernie isn't REALLY his Dad, OR, something is really up. Go back and watch that scene again..
I think Schyler is simply talking Family Tree-not alluding to Davy being someone else’s son. Specifically, if Davy is Bernie’s son (as he’s always been told), then he (Davy) IS the “final” male in the line of males on the family tree. If Davy had/has a son, then the son will be the last male on the family tree. I don’t think Schyler was intimating that Bernie & Davy are not father & son.

Love the Shining hommage in the scene when Mel is attacked.

Love this one great thinking
Aliens or time jumpers i think and i think the type writter is how they comunicate with the past.

You guys review of this show is my favorite! Great job! 😊
Thanks so much 🙏🙏
Drop your theories below and we'll do a theory video soon!

Nice recap. Thanks!!
"She's playing a different type of annoying character" that deserve a Lol cause it's so true her agent hates her.
Right 😂

This is Sugar's near-death experience.
What was said about the cottonwood tree? like it was alive and dead at the same time.
The Sioux Indians believed the Cottonwood Tree held the Spirit of The Great Mystery. It was definitely a clue from Father Ryan Miller-Shappell.
I think Sugar’s sister is still alive . Who is the woman that was wearing Olivia’s necklace ?
*also I’m heavy into aliens. Cue the meme…

Djinn!!! 💯
Have you guys noticed his hand only shakes when he is outside during the daytime…….???
Now that you mention it I do, what do you think that means?

@@117Derek I agree with you Derek
@117Derek but you have to listen to the EXACT words she used...."you ARE THE LAST LIVING MALE..." semantically, she is very specific...
@sceneinvaders her language would then be incorrect ...
David is such an unlikable character just a worthless individual
