In 1990, UB40 released their cover version of the 1970 song Kingston Town, which was originally written and recorded by Trinidadian artist Lord Creator. The band released the track as the second single from their album Labour of Love II, reaching number four on the UK Singles Chart and number one in France and the Netherlands.

On April 1st 2020 I lost my grandad due to the coronavirus. He used to be a DJ and every Friday at 9:00pm he would play this song. Thank you for this song and giving it a place in my heart that'll continue to play. Rest in peace Grandad, I love you x

Jeez, this tune is divine. Reminds me of my wife and I in Jamaica in 2004 in the hotel pool drinking cocktails and they blasted this out of the speakers. I closed my eyes and listening to this was just heaven. Guess we were privileged to have afforded it back then... but that was then and things have changed...always brings a tear to my eye as it reminds me of good times when we had no worries.
