25 year ago i saw this keyboard in store, but have no money to buy. It was my dream. I was 17 year old. And i loved electronic music.
Omg I had this exact one when I was kid. I never understood how to use it properly though lol.
If i read Vintage Keyboard from 1988 I was trying to remember what my first keyboard was, which was also in the 80's. I think it was some Casio model. Nothing special from the sounds, neither then nor now and without touch dynamics. On the one hand, a positive memory of the first time you played a keyboard as a child, but on the other hand, nobody would play with such a device today, especially not without touch dynamics. A feature I would never want to miss again.
Ah, the 140. Had this one as a kid, and that hi-hat sound in the intro, threw me back by about 30 years!. Sadly, the nostalgia is hampered by the fact it's a really limited Portasound. Some of the presets (Fireworks, Reverse etc) are quite fun though.
I have this model along with the PSS-470 and they both rule. I wish Yamaha would reissue the vss-30.
My VSS-30 is still working…I’d love a reissue with MIDI and 16bit AD!
I still have mine
I've still got my Yamaha CS-2x! Dug it out last year, fixed a couple of things and it was as good as new!
Amazing what the sound designers were able to do with a 2-op fm synth.
this brings back a lot of memories....i had the big brother, the one with the drum pads and sequencer; well...recorder...lol, anyway, i love what you share with the world here on your Chanel.......it's not in vain sir.
really inspiring video! cheers!
Hi Doug, thanks for this fun workshop :) but how is the Yamaha connected to the iPad? What I can see is a stereo output cable…
Yes, that’s correct, the Yamaha only has a headphone output, so I took a cable from the headphone output and plugged that into Channel 3&4 on my AudioFuse Audio Interface, the interface is connected to the iPad via USB, so then I can record any audio coming in.
My mic was connected in the same way, except that it was plugged into Channel 1 on the Audio Fuse
@@TheSoundTestRoom Thank you for the info :) I was looking for a way to hook my good old Yamaha pss 401 up to the iPad, now I’m in the right direction
Just got one in a thrift store for $14usd
Just got one for free... I got the other good one too! I posted it for sale at 100 just to see if anyone would buy it for that.... otherwise ill happily keep it
