    The appliances we buy today don't last nearly as long as the appliances we bought 30 years ago. My washer/dryer combo is 39 years old, my Panasonic convection oven was here when we bought the house in 1999. Even the light bulb still works!!! It's probably going to burn out now that I've bragged about it. 🙂

      @@denabijold1898I bought the 800$ kitchen aid pro model and it’s really not that great. I’m CONSTANTLY scraping it down because the paddle doesn’t get close to the bowl, the coating also chipped quickly and they tarnish easily. I called them and the return process is a nightmare so I’m just going to use it until I buy a new cheap one. Kitchen aid has sucked.

I kept moving and the houses were small so I left it new in the box with a relative, forgetting I even had it until the house was robbed and it was stolen. Now I'll have to look into the lead thing. I know a lot of people swear by KitchenAid but even with a big family I couldn't justify the cost. I've had 2 mixers over the last 45 years and both have been total workhorses. The first was a Sunbeam, ( not sure if you guys in the US have them ) the second which I've had for 8 years is a Kenwood. I've wanted one since the Kenwood Chef came out years ago when they had the K paddle. It was such a new thing but I still had my Sunbeam and it was still going strong. My Kenwood is also heavy and can also take attatchments for pasta etc. It was half the price of a KitchenAid and I love it. Still can't justify spending a small fortune on one. I'd rather give money to someone that could use it than spend money on something I can do without. Btw, my son has a KitchenAid and he loves it but he was a little shocked at the quality of my Kenwood!

    This is perfect for my use, & my age. The weight makes a difference as I have no counter space to store it & that would make me avoid lugging it out. I only want it for occasional bread, cookies, pizza, exploring new talents ... I am cooking now for just me. Also, watching you fumble on & off with that KA spatter guard sells me on the rim attaching to the mixer not the bowl. Very helpful. Obvious as well, the suction cups for stability on the beautiful mixer are adequate+ for counter stability, especially at only 8 lbs. It's the little tedious things that make it or break it in my world. Thanks for the review. Did I mention fixed income? Lol

    After years of wanting one I finally got my hands on the basic kitchen aid stand mixer. Couldn’t ask for more heavy duty power when mixing thick yeast dough. The lighting in my kitchen isn’t the greatest, one day I looked down at a bowl full of heavy whipped cream I was turning into frosting - and I noticed little grey specks. Upon further review I realized it was tiny metal shavings coming off the mixer, where the paddle is attached. I used a different attachment and it did the same thing. I can’t purchase another one after that experience:/

    We've had a Kitchenaid for about 20 yrs I guess. All of our attachments are metal colored and not coated in white. I got it for hubby one Christmas as he loved making bread. He doesn't make bread as often now, but it sure comes in handy for making cookies. I love cookies! We don't have a pantry, so it sits on the counter and I only have to drag it out about 8 inches or so to use it. Also, we have a food processor with those sticky feet. I hate those!! UGGG!!!! I have to set the food processor on a dishtowel in the cupboard as there is not enough room to tip it and get it unstuck from the shelf to take it out. I wish there was some way to turn the sticky feet on/off when you need them.
    ETA: Our splash shield is one piece with a slit in it to go around the attachment. That 2 piece one looks too hard to use.

    Very nice through review. Never had the need for a stand mixer. I don't bake. I buy Cool Whip when I want whip cream :-) Which is not very often. I have made pizza dough a few times. But that is scarce too. I have kneaded by hand. Arthritis prevents me from kneading by hand now. I do have a hand held with a dough attachment. Just have not gotten around to using it yet for pizza dough. A comparison you didn't make is what your model would cost today vs the cost of the one you purchased for this review. Question now though is "what are you going to do with this new one, especially since you said you don't use a mixer as often as you have in the past"? I thought the Kitchen Aid was a bit quieter. Maybe that is because you mentioned the new one struggled a bit with the cookie dough. Very kind of you to purchase a mixer for a subscriber to review!!!

  • @Erdie5
    @Erdie5 Рік тому +3

    Oh that poor little motor struggling with the cookie dough... Yeah, the problem is it's disposable. With the kitchen aid you can always find different attachments, not to mention all the accessories and junk even after 20, 30, 40 years etc, or get it serviced for that matter. This Beautiful is a brand produced under "Made-by-Gather" who on their website, they brag about having "15+ year-long partner relationships". Well gee whiz, 1 year. So if any of the accessories or the machine itself get damaged in 5 years or whatever, there's a pretty good chance they'll be long gone by then.
    That doesn't mean it won't work for lots of people, though. If they're like me and only bust out the stand mixer a few times a year, it might hold up well. I still use some ancient brown and bisque colored Sears Countercraft stand mixer from the 70's. But I use it when I make cakes for the kids' birthdays and around Christmas time and that's pretty much it. I see no reason to replace it until it gives up the ghost.

My wife was really apprehensive about getting this but I couldn't see spending 3x as much for one when I know we just won't use it that much. Feeling the less expensive one in person, it's definitely made with cheaper components, but as long as it gets the job done I don't mind. The KitchenAid is awesome but I'm not running a baking business. I just want to be able to make cakes for our kids' birthdays and do pizza and bread dough on occasion. Should do just fine 👍

    AS a bakery OWNER, kitchen IS BETTER BUT... if you're on a budget this other mixer is PERFECT! $100 at walmart if you're wanting to start out low. KitchenAide mixer is nearly $400 these days at any store...NOBODY can afford that honestly with the cost of housing etc.. My KitchenAide broke last night after 16yrs, and finally I'm thinking of which mixer to get for something different. I love that you took the time to review them AT the same time with all the ingredients to see how they both handled, I definitely love Aide but again, budget wise Barrymore is just as good.. yes it looked like it was struggling SLIGHTLY more and working harder but based off the cookie dough etc, it still got the job done! well done on the review!

  • @absmadesimple

    It's difficult to fairly compare this mixer to a Kitchenaid right out of the box. The real test will take place over time as the cheaper machine has cheap plastic and pot metal gears/inner workings, which will strip and fail with extended use (not IF, but WHEN).
    The Kitchenaid is a superior machine and was built to last; the cheaper machine was built for profit and VERY occasional use.
    It's an unfortunate fact of life, that these cheap knock-offs simply do not last.
    I've learned that it's best to save and get the original; going the cheap route always ends up costing us more in the end.

    I have a question. Does the Beautiful mixer incorporate the batter thoroughly? I've read reviews on the Cuisinart mixer and a lot of people said that it didn't scrape the sides of the bowl. Did you find that the Beautiful brand scrapes the side of the bowl thoroughly? Right now the Beautiful mixer is on sale at Walmart and I've been debating whether to get it or not because I'm an occasional baker . I think if you can answer that question for me you'll have a sold customer on it!😂 I would love to get a KitchenAid but I can't justify the price for the amount of time that I would use it. So I've been comparing the Beautiful mixer to the Cuisinart, and the KitchenAid.

    Thank you for the review. It follows along with the professional baker reviews I’ve seen also. Which has pretty much made my mind up.
    By the way, I think the reason the butter clump stuck to the KA paddle was it was still cold. If so, pro tip - always soften butter before mixing to ensure even distribution and prevent clumping.
    I'll be checking out more of your great reviews.

    I believe she is comparing the KA heavy duty to the regular size Beautiful mixer. I think the Beautiful is well worth the money.

  • @kattykakes8135
    @kattykakes8135 Рік тому +5

    Nope. Don’t agree. The Beautiful’ is anything but that in looks. You can tell in the way the motor seems to strain that it’s not well made. When you used the dough hook, I could see the dough didn’t come together, then you said you had to knead it a bit? No no no. The whole purpose of the Kitchenaid is the dough hook completes your dough with no work. I love my kitchenaid, and would never consider something that might last only a year for $99. For a couple hundred more, your Kitchenaid lasts a lifetime.
    Oh, and if you call or write Kitchenaid about the lead in the attachments, right now they will send you stainless steel replacements for free. The whisk already is stainless.

    No no no! The answer is: None of the above! Ankarsrum is the only way to go when it comes to stand mixers.

    Looks really plasticky. I'd expect the inside to be the same. Plastic gears and not metal. The Kitchenaid you'll be able to pass down to your kids. This one I'd be surprised if you get a few years out of it.
    Then again... If you use it only twice a year, it might be worthwhile to save some money.
