First time I heard this tune was at a show in Nashville, they had several guests, and given the bluegrass feel of this song--I thought it was a cover of some old timey bluegrass song they re-vamped. Later when "Farmhouse" came out, I was amazed it was an original!!! If they were shootin for this type of genre--as always-- they KILLED IT!!!!
Now this is the Groove I expect from these guys. I dont know if they really dont party any more but when your too high it shows I hope they have cleaned up for the sake of being to live longer and do more shows. Nice Work on this one.
Sure about that? I'm 14 and can't imagine Phish's music touching me any more powerfully than it does now. The music is where it's at. I'm not going to touch drugs and I don't need them to get an emotional experience from incredible music.
I read a fishman interview in which he said that the band took acid for every show of their first 3 years of existence, but he also said in the same interview that mike had never taken it before, so he could have just been fucking with us.
@futureccsrider30 I agree my phriend, these guys just have IT. I am a musician myself, and phish is one of those bands that can pull off just about everything because of their creativity and talent. The Halloween show was excellent, thus proving how diverse their playing is by covering Little Feat. It's a miracle these guys collaborated together, because they could have made it in solo careers as well.
@bvyborny ya i live in chi went to alpine 4 times deer creek>alpine run. ohio hampton going to phesti 9 if it happenes. i know they tour regularly but how much longer is this ganna last?
I know, right? Like... "I'm stoned and Whoa Look That's Phish up There Onstage! Bonus. I came to see the Red Sox but whatever. Woo Hoo! Play the Infield Josie Wales!"
@Wartfacedfreak Actually, it is more for comfort. As a drummer, in particular one like "Fish", it can be very restraining back there. Think about it, his feet, legs, hands, arms... pretty much his whole body is moving... Most drummers wear loose clothes, but "Fish" has his own style... A goofy dress. actually, the first dress he wore on stage back in the'80's was a oversized womens dress. This one is his custom made one... a staple to his rig really... =)
Im a muscian and every one in Phish plays the shit out of their instruments. Their arrangements are extremely complicated especially for a four peice band. They can play any genre and extremely well, as noted in their vast library of covers. The dead were the jam band pioneers, but individually Phish are better muscians.
Any song Phish puts on an album is their own...I'm sure they got help with the lyrics (as always) but they would never put a cover on an album. This song is off of Farmhouse by the way.
@notmefuckingname? Really? Where do you live? Japan? Chile? Haiti? New Orleans? Phish tours regularly, I've seen them six times in the last two years less than an hour from Chicago.
@jared030858 The demographic of Phish fans come from higher education, culture and wealth. You should read many of the papers that are written about these types of subcultures, instead of lapping up what ever label you lazily lap up from a dish popular culture hands you. the members of Phish met in college. They culled their fan base from New England and Mid Atlantic college circuit, widely revered as the bastion of higher education in the western world (Princeton, Havard, MIT, Yale)
This song isn't even remotely out there. I would love to see you watch the movie version of The Wall. I'm guessing it would resemble the head exploding scanners.
WTF-why do half of you fight about stupid shit when your supposed to to be enjoying this stuff, otherwise, why search for it? I don't get it! Is there somebody who can enlighten me to the original composer/performer of this song, sounds alot like a JJ Cale album my husband has.??? Please, intelligent comments and no haters/losers/db's pls.
i watch this video like every day now! Cactus' bass lines are so funky I just wanna get blazed and dance all day to them.

is this a cover of a grateful dead song? it sound familiar
uhhh hey buddy i don't think you made that one up
wow...really creative... you just took an existing genre and renamed it with the exact same name...
