Yeah, back when you could play a video game and everything would be alright. Now, playing a game means missing out on a paycheck you desperately need...
I don’t think any other console has seen such a large leap in technologic advancement of games during it’s short lifespan. Just compare, say, Balloon Fight to Kirby’s Adventure. To someone unaware, you would think these are on completely different consoles. This just shows you how amazing the NES actually was. It definitely shows in the music as well.
However, they learned to save KB in order to make worlds larger by oldschool data compression technology like reusing and mirroring pixel sets@@JalopEntertainment
Bro the fact that this was competing with other consoles that came out by then. Nintendo technically didn’t have competition because THE SOUNDTRACKS WERE KILLER! I mean, what other video game company could compare to what Nintendo was putting out in the 80s?
Koji Kondo wrote the Legend of Zelda opening roll in one night. ONE NIGHT. (The game was originally set to use Maurice Ravel's Bolero but they miscalculated the expiration of the copyright and it turned out to be illegal to use...the day before the game was to be sent for publishing.)
It was originally supposed to be based on The Terminator but Sunsoft lost the license halfway through. After changing up some of the artwork to de-Terminator it they released it as Journey to Silias. But the game was essentially designed from the ground up to basically be a Schwarzeneggar action movie. They had Hollywood on the brain when making it.

Gremlins 2 must have the best sounding music I've ever heard in a nes game. The composition is great, but that goes for many games. But Gremlins really sounds like it's a different sound chip. I'm a bit curious what tricks they might have used.

Don't forget to loop it. Or download it. 😁
While I'm pretty familiar with the NES and it's games/music, for those who are not, it would have been helpful to add which stage/where the music is in the game if they would like to look it up themselves.
We might ad that =)
Nice,same thoughts I had.
Love this, thank you. One Mistake - the TMNT song is actually TMNT 2, not 1. at 1:48:00
Gremlins 2 must have the best sounding music I've ever heard in a nes game. The composition is great, but that goes for many games. But Gremlins really sounds like it's a different sound chip. I'm a bit curious what tricks they might have used.
One heck of a list
3:26:24 I had read that Rock-Man was called that simply because it had rock music... I never knew Elecman stage was just 8-Bit Faithfully from Journey LOL
Well, this video sure starts off with a banger..
