My Papaw was an avid knife carrier. When you were in a spot and asked if he had his knife, he favorite response was "I've got my pants on don't I?" When we had his funeral, my cousin put his knife in his pocket for him.
Ive carried a pocket knife since i was 6 years old. I'm now 70 years old. Usually had a Henry Boker or a Buck, but for the past 30 years i have alsays carried a Leatherman Supertool. Best value for money and the best ever warranty. Ive repaired fences, houses, trucks , tractors , jewellery, even mining draglines with mine. Thanks very much Mr Leatherman.
i know a guy who grew up in detroit moved down here after livin there for 20 sum years and said its a whole different world out here idk it seems regular to me
My grandfather passed away & we all got something from his collection. Im proud of the Case knife I got.. other people went for the more expensive stuff. I wouldn't have wanted anything else. It looks like it's been through hell & back. Gives it class.
Except there are thousands of knives that are better. The fact he has gone through over 100 is evidence enough. Good steel doesn't wear out like that. Those knives are literally trash.
Case Texas toothpick is my favorite. Hours of my childhood was spent sitting next to papaw watching him show off the newest knife he bought, sharpening and cleaning his knives. Love u papaw.
I carry a case medium stockman and sometimes a Swiss Army knife, but my first pocket knife my grandpa gave me was an Old Timer stockman for my 8th birthday back in 1985, I do have other knives I like and carry sometimes, but a good Case knife brings back many fond memories, from skinning a squirrel or cutting up summer sausage while taking a break.
I have never heard of case pocket knives but my dad had a buck he used for cutting cattle and pigs. It was razor sharp all the time. Even as an adult he would never let me touch his knife. However, I just bought a Case trapper I’m sure I won’t be disappointed.
The steel is meh tbh. You can get them sharp I will give them that. Quality control is bad, they wear out quick, and don’t hold an edge very well. You’ll spend the same amount in the long run and have a knife that holds up better and requires less sharpening if you get something with the CPM family. Only gripe with s30v is it chips so damn bad. Any of the others will do you right. For the money I go with 20 cv, 45 vn, or 154 cm. Good ol 1095 is a great option if you don’t mind sharpening a little more. But if you like case and it works go for it. I’d give one of those steels a try before being exclusive to case. If you’re up in age I bet you only have to buy 2 more knives the rest of your life and you won’t worry about their strength like you do case.
@@ajk374 I agree it is now. But 20 years ago surgical stainless steel was about as good as you’d find. In fact the last few case folders I picked up to give for Christmas presents this past year were garbage I had to take one back and the other I actually sharpened because the edge was jacked up. Seems to have gone downhill. But I will say I have an older one that will hold an edge just as good as my benchmade.
@@dustinhardee2035 my edc is benchmade shootout with their new cpm cruwear steel. Although my bugout is the s30v. Both steels are superior to case stainless. Less often need sharpening and razor sharp. My original comment was meant to be more directed back 20 years ago . Case has real quality control issues to the point I wouldn’t buy a new one for my personal use after the last few I picked up.
Cody ur family is amazing. I grew up between 2 not good places philly pa n Trenton NJ . I love u guys it family is wholesome loving caring u guys r family. Thank you for showing families still exist...
I carry the Case Equestrian. I have two of them and love them! I find the hoof pick is great for other task as well as keeping my horses hooves super clean! Best hood pick I’ve used plus a really nice blade! I also carry a custom blade. I’ve been collecting knives my entire life.
My great grandpa just gave me a Columbia River Knife and Tool he found it a parking lot on the pavement. It’s a seventy five dollar knife which may not sound like much but for me is a really nice knife. It’s wicked sharp and it stays that way even when I use it for stuff I shouldn’t. Love you grandpa Charlie!
My dad had an old vintage case slimline single-bladed trapper from the early 70’s that I used to “borrow” from him as a kid. I’m thinking about ordering a modern version because I loved that knife so much
My favorite pocket knife is my Stryder S&G. I know, it's not a case. However, it's sharp, sturdy and I have traveled through 23 countries and fought in two foreign wars with it. My wife bought it for me when we got married. We got married after knowing each other a month, I deployed to Afghanistan the next month . We been married 16 years now, so, that's my favorite knife, and that's why. I'll pass it to my boy when I know he won't lose it. I'm gonna go buy me and the boy a case now though. Oh, and we are Ranchin, Southern Missouri. Much love from The Arrowhead Ranch.
Married my wife after 5 weeks myself, 13 years ago. But, I'm too sentimental to carry a knife she got me daily. I'm bad about receiving knives as gifts, and even though I rarely ever lose things, being too scared to risk it. But a Trapper I bought myself, hell I don't worry too much. The other ones are for special occasions.
Moore Maker, bone handle , my brand scrimshawed. I only cut calves with it. I just use my leather man wave blade for everyday. My dad gave me an “old timer” when I was 12. I was helping the neighbors brand the morning after he passed on last spring. I got it out and cut calves with it that day just in memory.
My Dad left me his case knife collection when he passed. I lost them all when I was in active addiction. Man it still hurts to think about. I would like to start my own collection now that I've been clean for 1328 days, today. Thank you for the video
Pawned my first deer rifle so I could shoot dope for a few hours so I understand your pain. Focus on the present, you are a different man now. One Day At A Time
I have a few full size trappers. Yellow handle being my favorite. Got a semi custom one from mom. I also like the sod buster. Perfect lightweight pocketknife.
I have a large hand carved replica of these knives that my daddy’s friend made him. I always wondered what type of knife it was until now! Even says case on it. Thanks for sharing!
I looked for it for eight years before I found the right one at a good price, but I finally got a case russlock with the rough black handles. I have carried it every day , and I love it, truly a great knife.
Case. Bought a bunch of them for all the adult men and soon to be young men for Christmas a few years back. For the majority of them it was their favorite gift, that year.
I love Case Trappers and I like the “Sod Buster Jr”. My Dad collected them for years and they have some really, really expensive models. The CaseXX is truly a superior knife!!
I love case knives but my fave is an old timer Middleman (3 bladed) or the Trapper (2 bladed). They sharpen easy for me. I like the ridges in the handle gives better grip and control when cutting something wet or oily. I like how it looks and for a cheaper blade they hold up quite nicely.
Hands down case trapper 2. Have had many yellow handles, but probably my favorite is the bone handle trapper2 my wife bought me 6 years ago for 1 year sober… and still goin strong. Carry and use it every single day
My son has become a pocket knife guy. I'm always grateful when q package comes and he can open it . He feels like such a man. I never knew about the wood ones. My littles would like those.
My dad always carried a sod buster and I've collected case knives my whole life living close to the factory. I have dozens of zippos and case knives I've never used. Using all the classics the sod buster is by far my favorite.
Great video! Favorite for me is a tie between the large stockman and the large trapper. My stockman is cv and trapper ss. Just picked up a copperlock. Looks beautiful
Me too bud, I collect them/ and or when I go out of town I always buy a knife where im visiting. I also sharpen my own my papa taught me how to when I was 3 or 4 he had me learning and I actually when im stressed out I go and sharpen somthing and it helps me so much just takes some of that stress away.
My favorite, any Case XX Trapper. My longtime EDC is a Case XX 3254 Trapper with the yellow handle scales and the CV blade steel. It’s a good looking pocket knife and it’s a worker. Cut’s every time I ask it to.
My grandmother retired from Case/Zippo in Bradford PA. So I grew up with these bad boys having gotten a new one just about every birthday or Christmas.
Hey, side note. Those DMT sharpeners are amazing. I carry the DMT FWFC Double Sided Dia-Fold Portable Pocket (8inch) sharpener in all my turkey/deer huntin’ packs. As a professional Chef I use the 12” system for all of my standard knives.
I also love the case knives. I’ve also carried many Trappers in my life. But we really live the Benchmades. I had one my dad gave me 25ish yrs ago, had Benchmade do some lifetime warranty work, and then end up dropping it at a random dog park. It was one of their original lines. Now you can’t find it online.
Maybe not the most common, but I’ve always carried a larger folding knife for heavier duty (like a kershaw) and a case peanut for finer tasks. The larger knife could be dull and still be used as a pry bar while I still had the peanut for anything I needed a precision edge for.
I was camping with my parents one time when I was about 10. Saw a fallen tree wedged between a fork of a other tree. I climbed up the fallen tree and looked down and instantly saw a knife down on the ground. It was an old rusted case sodbuster. Cleaned up pretty good and 25 years later I still have that knife.
Three blade Old Timer was my go to for years. I've since switched to a Sheffield $3 folding plastic utility knife. It weighs nothing, and is tough as nails.
I’m a stockman guy because it has the straight blade for whittling. I also carry around a sod buster occasionally for its simplicity. All of my groomsmen got Sod Busters as part of their groomsmen gifts.
My dad had some kind of 3 blade case knife for 20 or so years, he always chewed apple or cup plug tobacco and used the same blade that knife to cut a chew off the plug for all those years,he passed in 96 and i got his knife, every once in awhile i get it out to look at it but the blade that he always used is still covered with tobacco resin and is still razor sharp that knife brings back alot of good memories
My favorite is the Texas tech. It fits in any purse or even just my wallet and it works on everything. It's not too little to get the big stuff but small enough to go and any small pocket purse or wallet
I've carried a folding hunter case xx on my belt for years. Bought it when I was 13 with farming money. Still carry it today. Carry an old timer in my pocket
I've using case for years now! I love them. I started after I got my first. I found it in my moms old junk one day, turns out it was my great grandpa's that got past down to my grandpa, then down to my mom, now to me.
I think its called the truss from Gerber gear. Its a multi tool. Not actually a knife but it does have one. Its always gotten the job done for me. Highly recommend.

Ever since I was 12 I carried a Case Sodbuster Jr. I've lost it more times than I have fingers. I always find it. I've lost nicer case knives, but the sodbuster Jr always makes it back
The trapper my favorite. My first was a stockman but when my grandpa passed I inherited his trapper and there has been one in my pocket everyday since . Nowdays it's a secondary pocket knife as I use the crap out of my demko ad 20 all day everyday as a millwright/boilerman.
Any case knife is a good one ...i have a traper ...somewere my paw paw had probly 25 case knives when he passed....great classic knife put through everything great screwdriver aswell.
I always have either a mini trapper or mini sodbuster, but my all-time favorite case knife is the 1971 hunter that my aunt gave me when my uncle passed away😎
Currently have a sodbuster … very fine bevel. Fairly difficult to sharpen , being it’s hard to feel the bevel … but I’ve gotten used to it . I’ve had a trappers and mini trappers , and a few others …. But I’ve lost them all. I don’t lose many things , but a pocket knife is one of them.
I carry a Case Trapper with the pocket clip every day. My father in law carried the yellow delrin handle and I looked up to him and liked that handle so I carry the yellow handle. I prefer the carbon steel to the stainless.
My Papaw was an avid knife carrier. When you were in a spot and asked if he had his knife, he favorite response was "I've got my pants on don't I?" When we had his funeral, my cousin put his knife in his pocket for him.

Nothing better than a 4 1/4” case trapper yellow bone
The yellow ones are synthetic, not bone.
Except a blade that doesn't get worn out every few years

I'll have to pick one up. I've always been a fan of the Sod Buster.
Being from the Northwest I’ve always carried a Buck pocket knife. My father bought my first one when I was 5.
I just commented I use the Buck 110
My papaw had a bone yellow case pocket knife he used to skin deer, cut electrical wire, open soup cans, and mail.

Copperlock and I really like the Wharncliff blade ones.
“I love the castration blade that comes along with it. My wife got me one for our wedding.” Omg those sentences together made me giggle.
I like to carry my leatherman rev
It’s great but one gripe is the lack of a saw for outdoor use
Sowbellys, mini trappers and 3 blade stockmans are my favorites in that order
I love the Case Trapper.....I have one in black handle and one in bone handle......I've also always loved the old timer trapper
Love the trapper. My everyday carry is the sod buster junior. I’ve have tons. Love case knives in general.
Case for sure. Love walking into small town feed stores and grabbing some me if it catches my eye
I like the mini copperlock. It fits good in your 5th jean pocket
case makes great knives.I like a sodbuster jr.
