    Love it when we get ice. Alot of guys pull there traps because it's more work, but I think it gets easier. Great info, thanks again for all the teachings. Merry Christmas!

    Last week my son was standing in a bank run feeling around and had a beaver come out of the den between his legs. He felt something hit his leg, squeezed his legs together and then realized it was a beaver and came flying out of the ice hole

      Every time I get down in a run outside a bank den or lodge I always wonder if that will happen to me. It’s got to startle you pretty good.

      I was duck hunting once and my buddy decided to stalk some wood ducks that we saw land in the distance. I stood up (wearing waders in the water) to watch his futile efforts and I was standing in the same spot for no less than five minutes. Somehow, I didn't notice a muskrat swim between my legs and set up camp. When I finally moved, I scared the crap out of the muskrat, but he certainly returned the favor.

      When the ice freezes solid, do the beavers have any way of coming out from underneath the ice to cut down more trees? Or are they stuck in their dens until the ice melts?

    OK so I have to ask because I can't figure it out. When you are out like you are now in this video setting the traps, where the heck are those land sharks? They have to be there somewhere while you are there filming right? If they are in the bank dens or that main den are they swiming away while your walking up? I don't know I just can't figure out where their at while your setting the traps and busting holes in the dens.

    • @zulu9170
      @zulu9170 3 роки тому +1

      They could be at a different hole or lodge, or just laying in the same den. I caught my first beaver while setting a bank den and accidentally stepping on a soft spot pushing him out.

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  3 роки тому

      They are always present. Walking on or by the bank doesn't always force them outta the lodge

    Great video, what exactly is the purpose of a bank den? Is it another spot the beavers store food for the winter? Man that oak must make their teeth ache 😂

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  3 роки тому +2

      It is just another spot they sleep or feed besides the lodge. Especially if there are a lot of beavers in the pond

  • @josephdanielwatkins
    @josephdanielwatkins 3 роки тому +1

    So what is the purpose of a bank den for a beaver? I always thought it was a different form of a lodge. It sound like your saying it's just an alternate place for them to hang out away from their lodge? So all beaver using a den will have a lodge as a home base or will some beaver just use a den?

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  3 роки тому

      You are correct. They will sleep in some of these dens. Also just feed in some

      @@Savage3OO6 Awesome. I bet it was exciting. I just caught my 10th one of the season acouple days ago. It's really hard not being able to trap some of these ways. We also can't use snares, so no sets using a bait pole.
