Everyone in this video dances beautifully, but I particularly appreciated the photoshoot with Ophelia, she's such a talented and hardworking dancer already at a young age, and I like the way you work with them. Also, I just wanted to say that Heather's hair looks gorgeous!
Non dancers will never understand the amount of strain, hard work, time and energy us ballet dancers put into our work. People say it isn't a sport because they don't dance ballet so they don't understand how hard it actually is. We make it look easy because we've been doing it since we were very tiny.
Just because ballet is physically hard doesn't reduce it to a sport. Singing full voice for three hours over an orchestra in an opera is physically demanding, playing the trumpet is physically demanding, sculpture is physically demanding. None of those activities are sports. And neither is ballet.
Technically perfect execution of Esmerelda variation, but in my opinion, needs more sassy interacting with the tambrine and the audience. Esmerela is all about look at me with a big portion of I'm hot and "you" know it, thrown in for good messure.
I agree, ballet is not a sport but an athletic art form. For example, Gymnastics is more of a sport than ballet. Typically because dance isn’t considered a sport because it isn’t like all of the others. (In my opinion) Ballet shouldn’t be considered a sport because it is way more than that. It is (In my opinion) one of the most beautiful types of dance out there and should be valued as such
IMO, Melanie would’ve gotten farther into the Prix de Lausanne if she performed the way she did in the first recording. It was in time, and I think one of the best performances or Esmeralda I’ve seen. 💚💚
I have a question about ballet if you are kind enough to answer: Why is there more than one ballerina practising "Esmeralda" when they didn't have the solo? Is it because of fun or is there a technical reason for it?
Define the terms first, please. The fact that a discipline is officially recognized as a sport, belongs to a federation, has competition circuit and is included in the Olympic list *DOES NOT* make it automatically a sport. And viceversa, of course. Chess is the best example. Were skate or climbing already a sport before being accepted at the OG? If ballet was structured like FS, RG and Artistic Swimming, would it be consisered a sport then? According to physical requirements, *YES* , according to many other skills like interpretation or musicality, it' s an *ARTSPORT* We just chose to live _The Theater Life_ to preserve the artistry instead of reducing it all to a score based on the amount of pirouettes and oversplit degrees A SYSTEM WHERE, BTW, LOPATKINA WOULD BE NOBODY 🤯. That' s exactly what has killed FS, RG and W(A)G (or should I say _Killer Extream Tumbling with background music?_ ), a sport where olympic champions are unable to straight knees and point feet. So, officially it' s not a sport and we don' t want it to be. _De facto_ it' s harder and way more complexe than some the official ones. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
um yes it is have you even danced before?? Ballerinas are real athletes - coming from one. Pointe is extremely difficult and it takes years to make ballet look effortless.
Yes it is. It is highly athletic, requiring significant core strength, leg strength, coordination, flexibility, mobility, cardio, and a lot of arms for men too. You have to be incredibly athletic to perform ballet, especially at this caliber. Part of the reason people assume it’s easy is because it’s a dancer’s job is to make it look easy. Imagine running, playing football, or rowing but also not grimacing or making it look tough, it’s an insanely tall ask that dancers have to master. You should try doing ballet once or twice and see how your body feels after. I personally am not a dancer, I am a rower which is arguably also one of the most intense sports out there, but I have a lot of respect for ballet dancers as athletes.
Well, in a sense it is. If you’re doing dance competitions, for instance. However, I would say that it isn’t so much a sport as an art form that is more physically demanding than many sports.
@@aristired6252a dancer does need to be super athletic to be successful, but I don’t think that makes it a sport. Ballet doesn’t need to be a sport to be worthy of respect- it’s so much more than that.
@@aristired6252 just because someone doesn’t think ballet is a sport doesn’t mean they think it’s easy. Ballet is so much more than a sport like gymnastics or acrobatics, it’s an athletic art form.
Melanie kills this, both with her dancing and expression, top marks, she's the Goat

But that's not even the real variation, that's just an edited variation specifically for MBA to focus on turns
Their spins are so pretty!
Ballet is an art form. Treating it is a "sport" is why American Ballet is behind European.

Wow, that's a catty remark.
Perfect! Ballet is not sport but art and poetry of mouvement.
I’m starting to realize these 2 channels post the same videos over & over again in different compilations lol
Also member the one with tambourine Eva was learning in flats these girls do this on point

Melanie did it!
Beautiful 🤩
Omg I have the same zodiac like Melanie ❤ 10:16 destroyed me 😢
La danza classica è una disciplina e non uno sport.
Melanie è una splendida Esmeralda
We’re just lucky Abby Lee miller teaches ballet cuz there would be loads more of drama
Brava!!!

omg 53 minutes ago😭❤
I mean I get it. Ballet is hard, but it’s not a sport. It’s an athletic art form. Gymnastics (in my opinion)is the hardest sport.
Omg one hour ago
Ballet is not even a sport 😅 wtf

Please don't call ballet a sport!
Superb performance
