2 years ago I went through one of those “I got get in shape” phase and ultimately ended hurting myself, later I started seriously playing tennis and I’ve seen such improvement over 2 years, it taught me that you just gotta be patient coz the results will come later. I think not being embarrassed by the failures is important. I decided at 49 I wanted to do handstands, so I told myself to try five a day, and be happy with the result, even if all five were comical failures. And there were a lot of laughs. The first six months were tough but by the end of the year I could do a full set of eight unassisted handstand pushups. At 57 I still do handstands at least four times a week, including the pushup variety.

    Routine:
    1. L sit: 0:33, 3 sets, 3 times a week. Do V sits once you get better. No rep mentioned, make your own.
    2. Dragonfly: 1:51, start this first b4 the dragon fly, then do 1:40, 10 perfect reps, 3 sets, 3 times a week.
    3. Front Lever: (do after doing dragonflies right) , If just beginning start with tuck lever 2:17, then poke a leg out 2:29, then straddle lever 2:35, then once you can finally do it, do the front lever 2:37. 3 sets, 5 reps, 3 days a week, 7 - 15 seconds hold.
    4. Human flag: if just beginning start with side planks 3:19, add a decline 3:26, add leg raise: 3:31, after all that do 45 degree flags 3:36, hold for 10 - 15 seconds and increase angle overtime. Final move would be 4:00, make own sets and reps.
    5. Handstand: first do frogpose 4:10, then headstand 4:17, move to wall 4:24, finally take away the wall and do 4:40, make own sets and reps.
All these are great exercises if you already have good core but if you don't, do deez:
    - Leg raises: 5:30
    - Decline situps: 6:28
    - Other core workouts: 6:38
    - Side planks: 6:48
    - Russian twists: 6:51
    - Knee raises: 7:04
    - Tuck plank variations: 7:20
note: All excerises kinda useless without good diet

Great video. Just going to let everyone know AB EXERCISES DON'T MAKE YOUR ABS MORE VISIBLE!!! if you want to have visible abs make sure your a healthy weight first (or slightly over) and eat in a slight caloric deficit to decrease your body fat slowly (and safely) overtime so you can see those beautiful muscles. This means you will lose weight and a bit of muscle mass so you might want to consider training to limit the decrease of muscle mass as opposed to body fat. And what's sexier than abs is being healthy so DO NOT try to get abs at the cost of your health. Love you all.

Thanks for this! I'm 18 and raised in a rural area so gyms are non-existent, as well as not having the spare funds or storage space for a lot of equipment, so I don't have much muscle other than "farmer muscle". This video really helps a lot for getting into bodyweight exercises! I think I'll be doing these exercises along with the horse stance and possibly pull-ups (likely on trees or sturdy grape trellises, but I'd need to get enough muscle to do them in the first place) for the foreseeable future.

As somebody who is getting serious about weight training, these kinds of videos are always helpful. Since I've finally started making time to exercise, I have noticed that my core muscles are significantly weaker than before. For example, I did planks for 20 seconds, 10 pushups, and 10 russian twists tonight. My stomach muscles were sore after those few workouts, of course its because I have not been stretching that part of my body very often lately. I have gained a few pounds during the pandemic and I am committing myself to not only burning off all my stored bodyfat, but also to working on my martial arts and music skills. I am thinking about using my spare time to sit outside and practice drawing again, since that is a hobby I kind of gave up on around summer of 2020.

All of these exercises are great for building a strong foundation for your core. I have a naturally higher bodyfat though, so this wasn't enough.
I had to move up to direct hypertrophy training for the core using weighted situps/cable crunches (hold bar behind your head and touch knees to elbows while kneeling). And weighted leg lifts. Good luck on your journey guys!

I have to be honest i love your videos, they give me loads of motivation. I‘m trying to shift from gym workouts to calisthenics.
But honestly i find it a bit confusing. I‘m new to all of this and i would love to have a step by step guide. Bc rn unfortunately im a bit lost bc i dont know where to start and when and how to progress.
Ive seen your workout plan vid where you also include a pull-up which im simultaneously trying to learn. And that‘s also my problem: i dont know how to balance all of it, like when do i train what??!!
Would love a reply from you!!

Yeah it can be difficult to fit it all in. But don’t overthink it and add these exercises in where you can. I put them at the end of my other workouts and try to line up my front lever day with my back day. I guess I could make a video explaining it better.

Colin .. two things hit me while watching this video.. first is you have developed the most beautiful body I have ever seen on anyone.. you are absolutely beautiful and an inspiration to every guy watching this.,
Second is the section where you came down directly on your head.. ouch!, really felt that myself I did.. did you get a concussion from that?
That flag maneuver is poetry in motion., and all of these attempts you show as well as your successes., cannot get more inspirational than that!
You are way, way past amazing., you are phenomenal. And so beautiful to see.. sure I am that most guys watch this to learn how.. Me? I appreciate everything beautiful.. flowers., sunrises and sunsets.. scenery.. incredible works of art.. lovely paintings... listening to awesome music.. stars in the night sky.. watching you put your wonderful body through your workouts is a symphony in motion.. so you are.. and so strong! Yes.. that is why I watch,, and sure I am there are many others who appreciate you for these reasons also..
Btw Colin.. your use of we, us, our etc makes the viewer feel included.. as if they are your friends.. workout buddies.. and so forth.. you have a magical way of communicating my friend.. keep it going so! 🤗🤗🤗
God Bless you Colin.. makes my day just watching and listening to you!

First time seeing you and instantly subbed. I have been doing most of these exercises (progressions) for the past 3 months and have seen a serious increase in my fitness. I went from very unfit, chubby guy who couldn't even get into the tuck planche or N sit, to now being able to hold the L sit and working on the straddle planche. It is insane how effective and fun these exercises are - I think the fact that it's not as boring as regular gym workouts is what keeps me consistent. I spend about 10-20 minutes per day, with about 2 days of 30 min sessions per week.
