This first part of PIC Programming tutorials explains the installation of MPLAB IDE & HITECH C Compiler.Both are separate installations.The MPLAB IDE detects the compiler location & automatically displays under Toolsuite.

"Modify" indicates that you've already installed another version of MPLAB. Uninstall that & again proceed with the new installation.

Mister Saravanan Why the Mplab and Hi Tech compiler do not recognize the library "ports.h", some programs run correctly but when i use this library place buil failed, and tell me about the library ports.h

you can use XC8 compiler. it's the new compiler for al the 8-bits PIC C, PIC12, Pic14, pic16 and Pic18series. and it can replace HI-tech compiler
