@@giancarlotubal5985 Not sure. I only recently started playing it on an emulator on my Android phone (titled _My Boy_ if you're interested and have a real smartphone).
Thank you for mentioning Star x!!!! I loved that game as it was a great Star fox clone. I've never seen it reviewed for any gab lists and it is highly underrated
@Trex 8210 Talking about Snake 3d, As far as I know it had multiplayer through bluetooth. Sadly, I've never had two phones with Snake 3d on it at the same time, so I couldn't test it out how good/bad it was... T^T
Haven't seen Colin McRae 2.0 mentioned in any of these lists but that was impressive, full 3D modelled vehicles and the driving physics were surprisingly good
Hotwheels stunt track challenge is one of my favorite games of all time. I have the game on PC, GBA, and PS2. I recommend this game to anyone who likes racing games with good music. I'm so happy that more people are talking and playing the game. it is one of the best hidden gems in my opinion. Hopefully someone like metal Jesus Rocks makes this game popular by talking about it on their channel
TO = minimme Nice video. it was exciting to see my comment \ suggestion of Street Racyng Syndicate at the beginning of the video. If you do a fourth video about other 3D games for the gba ... can you put the game I suggested in the new video? Congratulations, you've earned a subscriber from Italy.
Seeing what the VD duo made with their engine make me wish other developers used it too. Imagine a Crash Bandicoot, Banjo Kazooi or Spyro game in 3d that can almost rival their big console cousins on a GBA.
Star x, the first one, seems to have mode-7 floor. But how can you have so large sprites on GBA? I mean, I get you can have like 128 sprites and 4 times overdraw. So they patch it all together? There is not much RAM left for that. Or are they using affine sprites and this sprite priority trick from the C64?
Yes! You had my childhood game on here. Hot wheels stunt track challenge. I can't tell you how many times I've started over from the beginning. When I was a kid, I don't really remember the passwords and I would loose all the codes I have written down. I had the combo version of the game that had both Hot Wheels game on the gba. Too bad I lost it and my little bro bought a copy so I will never find my copy.
Some people even managed to make Tomb Raider from PS1 working in GameBoy Advance (the reverse-engineered Open Lara)...That one was super-impressive as well
Imagine if the SNES SFX2 could had handled something like V-Rally back in the day, it would have been mind blowing. Now that's something that confuses me: how could the GBA handle things the SNES couldn't even dream of and yet there where so many, many games that looked half way between Gameboy Color and the SNES (looking at you DKC and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3). Maybe emulators make them look bad, since these games were meant for the GBA small screen.
The 3D Engines for the GBA were coded by hand. As 32bit system it was capable of handling polygons with softwarw rendering. Furthermore, as the psx/n64 era had already passed, devs had already gained some experience in handling 3d (compared to mostly crude attempts in the snes days.. *cough* fx chip *chough*)
Don't know if you have put it in one of the newer videos (I haven't watched them all yet) but have you seen Wing Commander Prophecy? Full range of movement space combat sim with 3D textured polygons, only game to have crashed my GBA, and not once but twice!
4 роки тому+1
This video made me buy Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. It was very cheap on Amazon and I had a very good time with it. It's a very short game, if you're good at it.
GBA was the first system I bought for myself, and I loved it, and still love it. It was amazing to see what people could get out of it, and how willing they were to try. Even some 3D console games that were completely redone in 2D (like Rogue Spear) or isometric 3D with 3D models (like Max Payne) blew my mind. Not because of how perfect they were, as they weren't. But I still enjoy playing them today, and I still appreciate what they managed to squeeze out of that system, with so few buttons. The Tony Hawk and ATV games aside, I've played all the ones you mentioned, but they're great lists anyway! One of the most impressive 3D games though, even if it was top-down, was Payback. I was also very impressed with Golden Sun's battle scene, even if that wasn't really 3D. Subbed, btw ;)
Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub! The GBA is so likable, I also grew up with it and it was a fantastic obsession that I also still enjoy. Like Max Payne, early Tony Hawk games also used 3D models, pretty fascinating. I've played Payback and have been meaning to include it! A very impressive GTA style game - will definitely be in a future video.
I didn't know that there were flat shaded polygon games on the gba , with that in mind, i wish that vortex, starfox, stunt race fx etc,, were ported to the gba.
Holy hell, when you said "clone" for Star X, you weren't kidding, it's like someone basically took Star Fox SNES and made an attempt to have it run as smoothly as 64, All Range Mode included. ...Yes, I know Star Fox 2 exists, but the HUD basically screams 64.
Well, technically the GBA IS 32-bit, so comparing the V-Rally to a PS1 game isn't much of a stretch. Considering the GBA had no 3D processor (and some of the games had a software version of the SNES SuperFX chip, least that's what I've heard) graphics like these are still impressive.
Top Gear Rally is another one to note. It doesn't play as well as V-Rally and it has some visual glitches, but the car model looks like it came from an N64 (albeit with terrible resolution post-rendering). Also, I'm not too surprised Star X's controls are twitchy. They seem to be going for a similar experience to the SNES version of Star Fox, which has equally bad controls.
Hello, I wonder if you can do a list of games which are close to skyrim and oblivion, with gameplay like gothic 3 or something like that. I played a lot and I like that type of RPG games. thanks
Wow! Didn't know about this. Insane, thanks for letting me know! There's a lot of cool unreleased stuff/tech demo's for the GBA, I might do an episode on them
I was able to play StarX just fine. You can change the targeting sensitivity too if you like. VRally3 and Top Gear Rally, I wish they had a rumble pak :-(
Have you played the new Mafia yet? I know you're a Mafia fan, but you said M2 left a stale taste in your mouth, so I'm curious. Will you be making a video on it? :)
Not yet bro, personal life has been annoyingly busy lately, and will be for another few weeks I predict At the risk of sounding like a broken record - I will definitely eventually cover all the Mafia games haha You played it yet?
minimme I haven't yet. I'm not particularly a huge fan of the series, so that alongside the mixed reviews, I think I'll wait a few months for a sale before I snag it. The gritty reality of the decade its set in seems to go a long way for immersion, so that's definitely something that makes me want to try it out, eventually.
Fair. Spot on about the location, but yeah the mixed reviews aren't too welcoming. Seems my concerns about those side missions might turn out to be true. eep
Should've switched V-Rally to the cockpit view. More impressive visually in that perspective, and it plays better.
Yeah I regret forgetting to do that
Actually the V Rally cars is 2D, the back ground is 3D.
There's footage of an unreleased version of Virtua Racing running on the GBA on UA-cam, that's quite impressive too!
Woah

In V-Rally 3 you can also Switch the camera. For me this was just WOW
By my estimation, the game actually also runs at 60FPS (I could be wrong, though).

holy shit... Had Hot Wheels back in the day for my GBA and i remebered it waaaay better. Nostalgia is a bad friend
I love Vrally 3, one of my first Racinggames, and my first Rallygame😍
In Super Monkey Ball JR, if you enter the Konami code when you enter the low resolution code, the title screen changes to Super Nice Try.
We gon talk about those V-Rally 3 backfire sounds?

I played that on my Sony Ericsson w610 in 2007 lol.

Star X makes me think that Nintendo should've taken the Star Fox 2 code and ported it to GBA as Star Fox Advance.
The shifting sounds of V-Rally! 😂

The Tony Hawk game is reminding me of Alone in the dark with its visuals
Which game and on what console?
We have the 3DS, Switch, PS Vita, etc. But for some reason, to this day the things the GBA can pull off blows my mind.
*Sexy flat shaded polygons*
If you liked that micromachines game I would recommend Lego Drome Racers for the GBA.
Haha, next video man!
I feel like Cars: Maternational is a good 3D game, with full 3D race tracks and multiple 3D player cars (while the opponents are 2D sprites)
V Rally surprised me a lot, i bought it, and without reading reviews, i can’t believe how the gba could run that
Well, technically the GBA IS 32-bit, so comparing the V-Rally to a PS1 game isn't much of a stretch. Considering the GBA had no 3D processor (and some of the games had a software version of the SNES SuperFX chip, least that's what I've heard) graphics like these are still impressive.

Hot Wheels stunttrack challenge is basically Ps1 Hot Wheels Turbo Racer on gba!
Check out the gba asterix and obelix XXL game. Some of the best 3d, plays like a 3d early PS1 title too.
You need to check out Gt Advance 3, it's a full 3d racing sim for gba, really good graphics and fairly decent gameplay.
Thanks for the suggestion, hadn't heard of this. The visuals remind me of The Simpsons: Road Rage
minimme a lot like road rage for sure. But if you notice all the cars a fully rendered.

Hey minime, what's your favorite game genre?
Golden sun is the best 3D game for the gba. The graphics were stunning at the time and still are today. Look it up.
This is basically like a suped up SNES. These games look way better than the super FX chip but not quite on the level of the N64
The PS1 quality 3D is very likely done with distorted sprites just like it was done on the Sega Saturn.
32 bits in my opinion is such a weird type of console variant, it’s just a weird gap between 2d and 3d
Your voice is like a soothing rain of hot wax washing over my soul.
