It's a great set up, Terry! Looks nice too, which for me, always feels right! I loved your comment about level...and blaming the wood chips! lol - No matter what my friend, the water will always be level, even if the barrels are not! So nice to see you Terry, as ever! Only a month and a bit to the darkest day, and all will brighten minute by minute! 💚

Hi Terry that's using your head mate knowing the idea is sound then making it so it suits the pipe . see you started collecting your huge amount of leaves good on you. Stay safe Bill and Val
There seems to be more leaves on the trees at the moment and 6 bags collected and 14 to go......lol. It seems so fiddly connecting the barrels with solid pipe fittings Bill and Val and hopefully this way they will fill to the top. The wire is holding the pipe together nicely. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
Another good tip \terry, i like how all the water barrels stay at the same level with that method i have mine first a foot higher off the ground and stepping down to the last, looks like i will be changing that now ;-) thanks
Tick that job off the list! This reminds me of the year you did run out of water and had to cart gallons of the stuff from home. That was some years ago, you've come a long way sine then. Well done Terry! Take care, Poo
Mine hasn't kinked but its a great idea to stop it kinking and holding the pipe where you want it. Thanks for the mention. You have a lot of water now mate. Cheers.
Hope you are well Dave, It depends on the quality of the hose pipe I suppose and these are holding up well, its distracting me at the moment but at least I am achieving something. This will save me time filling up the barrels. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
You really have a great mindset for recycle and implementing workable things, well done Terry. Thanks again for running us through how you do it.God bless and stay safe.
Great idea to prevent kinking, thanks. I have several "distribution" hoses into the primary container under my downpipe, otherwise it fills up faster than the one siphon hose can empty. Also helps with refill when I draw water off (I can only get to the first end container, with yours I expect you could lift a lid on any of them and dunk a watering can)
You have given me some thoughts and will monitor the primary barrel for issues that you have described, many thanks for your input I do really appreciate it. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
It has to be easier than moving water from one barrel to another and risking it over flowing and losing water on those wet days. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
That is lovely way to make the do-be-do-daw things. 👍 I would think it would be safer to secure the end of the wire and roll the dowel. It is a very good system. Thank you Davey. Best wishes Bob.
I tryed that way Bob, but it wouldn't roll, after pearsing my ear I thought it best to put some tape on the bed for the video......lol. My do-be-daw things are working really well. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

I remember the wire showing up a year ago, I was wondering how you were going to use it. Brilliant. The shorter days mean that it coming to your favorite season;) Cheers Terry
Terry the way I feel my hoses to do the same thing is I hold both openings up take my little watering can and pour water in one of the ends until it comes up to the other end put my thumb over one of the ends and the end that my thumb is not on I put in the barrel and then the one with my thumb over it I put in the bottom of the one I want the water to go into, if that makes any sense
Brilliant! I want to use this technique for my water barrels in my greenhouse. I use them as a heat sink. This summer I want to hook up a DIY solar heater to store more heat for the winter. I think your setup will help me to mix the water between barrels to store more heat!!!
Cheers Terry this was dead useful. One thing I might try is one of those curved pipe holders you often get with a dishwasher to keep the hose in an upwards position and elevated.
Don't turn the wire; turn the dowel. Make a hole or slot in the dowel; insert wire end; spin dowel. Eliminates wire whipping about and possibly injuring someone.
Good idea and the wire is reasonably soft so should work, may be use some mole grips to turn the dowel. Cheers my friend. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
The pipe I get for free is very soft so this suits me, thank you for taking the time to comment and share your experiences. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

Hi Terry another great idea put into use. I don’t have a hose pipe like that my hose is a shrink type hose. It blew a hole but I kept it just in case. I wonder if it’ll work like your hose pipe?

Hi Terry, i have had a few water butts over the years so i collect the fittings and do the drill hole method, same as yours in a way but with the fittings method. One question what about water smell? as the water butt fills up you get that smell after a while and you put those drops in to make the water fresher, you know the ones i mean?, anyway how do you do yours if there is any water smell at all? and i even have a filter before the water goes into the first water butt, incase you ask?
