Diquat. A cousin of Paraquat (a close cousin to Agent Orange in near civilian form with an LD-50 of 4 which means 4 milliliters will kill 50% of the animals in a test group. We had a liquid fertilizer business and sprayed paraquat, Round-Up, and some other dangerous stuff and we were not informed respirators were needed. Heck, with both windows down who needed PPE. I about croaked from spraying Paraquat to defoliate for double cropping. The lung damage I have suffered all of these years probably was caused by Paraquat. But, who cares, I am in year 81 and every day I wake up is above average.
I’m from Italy and using 3 combine for a month plus and be half done seems impossible, can’t imagine the acres mike’s been farming (in Italy the median farm size is about 5 hectars, which I belive is about 15 acres…)
Why do you grow lentils when they seem to be a princess crop? You are a much calmer man than myself Mike. @@alexmikhael5061yes but most of the time the reason for no local market is because it’s just not a viable crop to grow in that region. Pretty hard to grow corn for grain when the first hard frost is usually sometime in August
@@clearskiesranch1362 Right... we plant Corn end of april to early May and harvest around mid october which is when we typically get our first frost in the midwest
Crazy to think how long ago you started up north... Time really does fly... Cant believe its been years since I started watching...
I know, I was thinking about that the other day too.. In 2020 I bought my first 1/4 up here, and not sure Ashtyn and I were even engaged yet? 🤔😆🤷🏼♂️

I came across your channel about 4 months before your wedding. Been following ever since, loving every minute!! 👍👍💯🥳

Good episode Mike - reminds me of custom spraying in evenings, a wonderful time of day! You take care sir.
Thankyou good sir 🙂
That's the worst time of day for me to spray I like the early morning

Diquat does not have an ld50 of 4. It is 400. This is just fear mongering.
Can't wait for the X memes to get a bite of that 😅😂
Mike after 4 years or so being up north how many acres have you and Ashtyn roughly picked up so far.
How many acres do you have at the north farm
How far away is the north farm from the home farm
Mike, why lentils at the north farm more rain than in the south farm less rain?

Hello Sir, nice video! Question, have you ever used the Hagee sprayer and do you prefer the Case sprayer over other brands! Thanks!
Hola Mike para un poco , estabas cosechando , ahora pulverizando , llévame a trabajar con vos
Twin rotors will plug up on your lentils. You'll be hauling your S 790's to combine your canola and lentils
Mike never learns... 😂
Do you farm more acres up north or down south?
South by a lot but he’s constantly expanding at both locations
❤❤❤❤❤
Hi, great update as always. How many acres have you got up north farm now? Hope weather allows you to harvest the lentils.
How soon will you be harvesting after you dessicate?
Depends on the product and the state of the plants, but most products I have been involved with are 7 days average.
Did u order a new sprayer from that young man from the farm show ???
Mike you must eat stress for breakfast lunch and dinner.
😆 Some days can be challenging
Mike how fast are you driving over there?🤔
So why don't you take one x9 down south and bring up an S to the north farm
Yummy
👍

Because they’re worth a lot of money
@@clearskiesranch1362 Didn't know they were such a cash crop even with a poor harvest. thanks
What are the current market price on Durm this time and week
Not great
do you still need some help for harvesting?
One man’s desiccation is another man’s spraying harmful chemicals on food. How do you explain this process to agriculture haters?
So if you want to eat without being slowly poisoned by toxic chemicals means you’re an “ag hater?”

Win some, lose some.
Mike, I have a dumb question! Are you to far north to raise soybeans?
Yes... you need at least 85 to 90 days minimum to grow beans and i dont think they get enough heat units that far north to fully set pods.
Would corn be viable up north as its generally wetter up north?
Heat would be the main risk point I would think. You’d need a very fast maturing variety to make it there.

Lentil soup is awesome! 😋
@@mikemitchell2554 Just eating some right now!!
Indians
Vegetarians. Lots go into dog food as well.
A lot !! Plant based , veg and vegan diet folk use lentils in a lot of recipes and dishes . They account for a staple source of protein
