For me, the best way of getting to know a different country is to participate in an activity that you have always loved in your home country. My thing ws skiing in France, sailing in England or Norway. Also doing business trips to Germany, France and England. Once there, you are doing things that you do best and quickly become part of the local scene. Kariem, keep up the good work and your friends in germany will will see you have added an interesting facet to your life.
Paderborn is a BIG city in NRW 😉 Almost 150000 inhabitans and in Germany, cities with at least 100000 are officially defined as a big city (Großstadt).
Gravy is served with so many German dishes. I really wonder why he didn't know that. Maybe the taste is different or the ingredients obviously, but gravy is sooo German.
Maybe he is referring to the "southern" gravy in the USA (white gravy made with flour) that is used in biscuits and gravy, among other southern dishes. I know "brown" gravy is common in some German dishes.
@@jeffreysahaida1111 It's not just Bavarian. It is eaten from Scandinavia to Romania. So from Northern to Eastern Europe. Maybe in the UK too, but I haven't been there yet
Watching this video with Kariem was so much fun!!! Make sure to do one with Sophomore Luke Wentz (the first German QB ever to make it to an US University) as well. Das hat etwas zu tun mit deutscher Sportgeschichte.....
American gravy has little to do with German "braune Soße", also, I'm assuming that Karim's family might not necessarily be very firm in traditional German dishes.
I feel like football is getting more and more popular in Germany. I started watching football games maybe 3 years ago on german TV (aswell as lots of my friends). P.S. I really love your videos and I'd love to see more videos on sports culture/ football :)
Thank you! Football definitely is gaining popularity which is super cool. Kariem and I talked about how someday there may be more transatlantic games which would be so cool!
Nice video Montana...do you know, the NFL comes to germany next year for a game? Football-community is getting bigger and bigger here. College-football even is on TV every saturday. And the NFL on sundays. I started watching games in the Arena in the 90's. Best Party ever :) Have a nice sunday
Funny that you mentioned my old home Regensburg, since it's rather unimportant on a national level. The city hosted the 2014 European Baseball Championship.
Nice Video with this football Player, if he cant make it into the NFL he hopefully joins the ELF American Football becomes more and more famous, I hope next year the NFL will make the way to Germany
Not everybody is sitting down for peeing all the time. At home I sometimes sit down when I'm lazy but I have a urinal in my apartment so I'm using this mostly. When I'm not at home I never sit down for peeing and when I have to sit down I cover the seat with paper.
No gravy??? Where is he actually from? 😂 But I would agree with him to a certain extent, that gravy is not really a separate thing in Germany. Meat dishes are often a little "saucy" but it's not a separately served item. But, some specific dishes are served with or do contain a lot of gravy, like Sauerbraten or Königsberger Klopse, so the gravy is part of specific dishes.
So the peeing debate... I'd say the sitting down usually goes for when you're home or in a place that's yours, so to speak, like a hotel room or a dorm room in Kariem's case. When you're out in public, most guys will use urinals.
@@---zx9zf how? I go to the bathroom take a piss, wash my hands and leave. There is literally no need for me to sit down?! I got plenty other places if i feel like i need to sit.

I actually think most men in Germany don't sit down while peeing. It probably depends on their education. I love how open and open minded you are. You seem to be able to have interesting conversations with about anybody ☺️
There's a Yougov survey from 2016 that found that 67% of German men say they sit down to pee at home. I don't know if there are more recent or better polls, but it think it's enough evidence that there's a big difference in male toilet habits between Germany and the US.
Love your video. I was in Germany 40+ years ago, so some things have changed. When we went to a gasthaus, we just peed on a wall in the restroom, and it ran down a pipe to the outside. I don't know what ladies did? I do remember the hard brown German toilet paper... As far as football it was somewhat popular in Germany. Now way as near as popular as soccer. They did get the Super Bowl on German TV. They had a FB league, (no pros) with Germans and American on teams. Not the old NFL Europe but just a clubs league. I think they played in the spring? I have heard rumors that the NFL wants to have a game in Germany in 2022. They are trying find a stadium, but are most likely it will be Munich. One sad note. Lots of Germans come to Green Bay, Wisconsin to watch the Packers. One guy even had a sign he took to the game saying he was a German Packers fan from Germany! The sad part is he was killed in that plane that blew up or bombed over the Mediterranean Sea. Very sad.
Never heard of hard brown t/p. There was a time when recycled paper (for writing purposes) was brownish. But I can't remember if that was also the case with t/p. But hard? Never in my world.
You should have asked him to answer a question in German. It's hard to believe he's German - he speaks English so perfectly. I've been living in the US for 4 years but my pronunciation is not as good as his.

Some people just like to watch Handegg, I guess. Maybe because of the variety of snacks or the cheerleaders, I don't know exactly. Personally I find these games super boring - just leave out all the interruptions, and the final summary of maybe twenty minutes is interesting; but I don't have to sit in the stadium for hours for that.
5:28 Du hast jetzt nicht wirklich das S-Wort benutzt, wenn du von Fußball redest oder? Gravy is served with so many German dishes. I really wonder why he didn't know that. Maybe the taste is different or the ingredients obviously, but gravy is sooo German.
Maybe because he is a Muslim and doesn't eat much German dishes. The Germans eat a lot of pork and that is not allowed in the Muslim kitchen
