Out of an old kitchen table
@@lizsmith9873 I heard that it was a fireplace. But regardless, that still makes Brian May even more awesome - not like Brian May needs the help!!! :)
@@scrapper3494 I think the table top was used for the back of the guitar and the fireplace mantel was used for the fingering board. I thought Americans may not know what a mantel is. Its the long shelf above a fireplace where my Mum would pit the clock, photographs and Christmas cards.

Yeah, that's true
Roger is a guitar
I'd never noticed until now lol

"Seems to be Iconic"???? WTF
Queen is THE most Iconic Band ever!
From before you were born! A Legend!
Lyn Hurley not everyone’s a fan of queen
Nope. Thats The Beatles.
@@pooplicker2955 I'm a beatlemaniac but I'm going to have to say that Queen is more iconic
Rae Smith No way man. The Beatles totally changed the game forever. The Beatles have literally influenced almost everyone one way or another. What band can say that they have three of the most iconic albums of all time (Sgt.Pepper,The White Album, and Abbey Road).
That "Guy with the cool guitar" is Brian May... Dr. Brian May - Astrophysicist...

Oh... and by the way.. he BUILT that guitar from scratch (because he couldnt afford a Stratocaster) back in the 1960's with his dad. It's made of an old wooden fireplace, his mothers old knitting needles and lots of other stuff he found lying around....and because he made it from the ground up.. a stratocaster has 9 distinct settings....his home-made baby has 28.

If you didn't know about Queen's Somebody to Love yet, man you really got fucked up in life. Even as a Rap-fav listener, the song was played so many times on weirdest events. However, I enjoy watching Alex going into it. It feels so gratifying. OH SHIT. I got somethin. #Heart - Barracuda< or any song from their Brigade album. please party up

@@SupJax yeah for sure some Nazareth. I grew up with all this classic rock and started listening metal, blues and funk. Not that into rap but you know those old school rap songs have some real punch in them so I like most of that stuff but can't stand these new mumble rappers. I listen about 8hours music a day so if I only listened one genre it would be pretty boring after a while. Every situation has its own song.
@@MrSpeedyy1991 Yea I'm switching the genre type numerous times. I just can't get enough of new fresh feeling, and coming back to hard rock is so stunning. Speaking of Queen, Extreme's medley from Freddie's tribute is fantastic... I love the friendship that Brian has had with them since then. His accolades of Nuno's solo in "Get The Funk Out" is absolutely endearing.

I think Roger is one of the best rock singers in the world. The problem was he was in the same band with Freddie freaking Mercury :D
I Love Tostbrot I Love Tostbrot he could always hit them so perfectly and Fred always avoid them but Fred actually could hit even higher notes! :)
I had a dream that Freddie was in my room sitting at my desk, he told me, "I'm still alive darling, just in a different way" then I woke up. It seemed real as frick. That dream really shook me I'll never forget it.

"That's a cool looking guitar"...
That guitar is called Red Special and Brian May made it himself with his father's help because he couldn't afford expensive guitars at that moment. Others have already mentioned that he's an astrophysicist. So that might have helped. He mostly played that same guitar throughout most of his career.
veryblackraven mostly? He always did when it came to electric guitars. Only time I can think of where he needed to use another was Crazy Little Thing Called Love where he used a Tele since the Red Special couldn’t get the tone he wanted

By the way, Brian May's guitar is hand made by him and his dad
Also, John Deacon built his own guitar amp, called the Deacy Amp. From transistor radio and amp scraps in bins. Brian May still uses it today, due to the unique sound it makes. There's only one, and it never broke down since it was made in the early 1970s.

More Queen reviews! You'd love anything from Queen! Freddie's vocals are always incredible, their lyrical contant is always amazing, and the sheer variety of the music style is just awesome!
Queen is possibly the best band of the late 20th century. You could argue for the Beatles, but they're more mid-century.
I miss Freddie so much. It was mind-blowing as a kid, tween, and teen to see him perform on TV. And heart-wrenching when his decline became visible.
I've never, before or since, seen a man who was so incredibly flamboyant, and yet so utterly masculine. Bowie was on fire with that beautiful androgynous thing he had going on. Most men were rocking some form of the beanpole/footballer body in jeans and a fringed vest. Freddie had his own style and damn if it didn't work.
Queen blew the Beatles away in my opinion.
Great Freddie Mercury man...He can do anything with his voice...True Legend...RIP
It's nice to see someone new get blown away by Queen. I've been listening to them since the beginning when I was a kid in the 70s. If you want to have your socks blown off, check out Queen's Live Aid performance. :)
An interesting thing about Queen is that Brian May, the guitarist, is also an astrophysicist. He discovered the zodiacal dust bands for NASA.

Brian May made that guitar with his Dad from the wooden mantelpiece in their home. And seeing your face light up as the song goes on is great. Another Queen fan methinks.
I'm almost 59 and just got obsessed with Queen when the movie came out. Did some digging before going to the movie to see why they were considered the best band. They are addictive and always sounds new when I go back to listen to them. Learned to respect every member of Queen.

I am a 73 year old grandmother and I have been a fan of Queen since they began. They are amazing beyond words. When I was watching Bohemian Rhapsody movie I found myself applauding to their music. I am so grateful for this movie, to Queen and the times I loved hearing them.
First time hearing this song.... made me cry...so beautiful
“That’s a dope looking guitar!”
That, Alex, is Brian May’s “Red Special”. He made that with his father when he was young. He couldn’t afford a guitar of his own, so he built one. Brian only used that guitar, unless they were playing Fat Bottomed Girls, or a string broke, then he’d get a copy. Once Fat Bottomed Girls was over, or a new string was fitted, he’d go right back to using the Red Special. Brian still uses that guitar today on tour. Btw, he made it in I believe the 60s. All original pieces except for strings and machine heads and tuners. Everything else is the same from when he made it all those years ago, and it still works.
Wow... Queen was literally my first rock band. I was like thirteen, and I found a CD in my parents collection. After that I started to listening to classic rock like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and other stuff. That was the start of my whole metalhead carrier. This song brings back so much memories.

QUEEN is unprecedented talent, genius, uniqueness, & Freddie is the best front man ever!!! It is said that Freddie Mercury had one of the most recognizable voices in pop and rock history. His speaking voice fell in the baritone range, but he delivered most songs in the tenor range. His known vocal range extended from bass low F (F2) to soprano high F (F6) & a 4 octave range !!! React to Innuendo by Queen! In my opinion it's one of their best songs
When you said that was a dope looking guitar, Brian May actually built that guitar with his father when he was a teenager, using everything from a piece of fireplace mantel, to mother of pearl button, piece of oak table, motorbike valve springs, etc. Replicas are still made and sold today.
This is easily my favorite Queen song!
Live at Montreal is the best version of this song. Queen is an amazing live band so live shows are often the better choice. Brian built that guitar when he was a teen with his dad. This song is a prayer (gospel song) if you listen to it that way is makes a lot of sense. These guys met while going to college and each got a degree before becoming full time musicians. Roger (drummer) degree in biology, left dental school to do music full time, John (bass) degree in electronics (built the Deacy amp that Brian uses to get other instrument sounds out of his guitar) John uses it on occasion also, Freddie (lead singer) degree in design (designed the queen logo) and Brian (guitar) a PhD in astrophysics, so they all had something to fall back on if this didn't work out but none of them ever really thought of that as an option. Excellent reaction. Your facial expressions said it all. You were properly impressed. Thank you.

He and his dad made the guitar. Part of was a old fireplace, sewing needles and a bunch of other pieces they found around the house. There will never be one like it and Brian May is excellent. The thing that you have to love more then anything about Queen is they never let their ego’s get in the way and they are the only band where each member of the band has written a song that has gone to #1 on the charts. That is so cool!
