I've listened to enough Panorama to know when one band stands out from all the others. A new king is born, Duvone Stewart. The count is not too fast. They coming to beat you with music, not speed.
Man oh man! What a performance! Duvonne announced himself on his 1st outing with Renegades in 2012 (with "Vibes"). On that occasion their Semis performance was better than their Finals performance, because for some reason the band wasn't "vibing" as well on Finals night, who knows why ... fatigue, wrong count... I hope the band steps up their performance on Finals night on this occasion. How? I don't know how. As one poster said, this is an instant classic. This is in the category of All Stars' "Hammer: which I think this has the record for the most points on a Panorama performance: 293 pts. if memory serves. This performance can outstrip that, and I hope they come up with at least a score of 294! Regardless, Duvone has taken the art form to a higher level. This is the work of not just a maestro, but a Master Maestro of the very top rank. He has stamped his authority not only on the steelband panorama art form, but of the musical art more generally. This is one not just for Trinidad and Tobago. This is not just one for the world, but one for the ages! Hats off to Duvonne and to Renegades. I think even the angels in heaven are applauding this performance, and by extension this art form! On a smaller point, I like the new, young, frontline. The older heads have done yeoman service over the years, and I do not disparage them. I only say this to say that the art form is in very good hands now, and the baton has well and truly been passed to a younger generation, and they are not only equal to the old-time greats, but look set to surpass them as well. Pan is in good hands! What more can we ask?

The judges got it right I think, in terms of the point difference between Renegades and the rest. But having said that, ALL the performances were quite simply excellent. It's just that Renegades charted new territory as to musicality of the arrangement, and the song they had to work with was melodically and lyrically outstanding. The only question for me is how this performance stacks up against the best of the past, ie. All Stars' "Hammer" with its 293 pts, Phase II's "Pan Rising" with its 292 pts. etc.

I think it' s a case of vanity when you have the arranger in front the band and so call directing the group, because the pannist knows what they are suppose to do and most of the time they are looking down at the instrument. If you look at Trinidad Allstars, after the initial timer to get the band started, they are left to perform without a director
