  • After the request of several fellow UA-cam'rs I finally found a moment to show how I cut in my belt loops for OWB style holsters with integrated belt loops. I agree, it is pretty primitive but it works for me. I hope this helps a few of you out to cut in some good looking belt loops.

I love seeing how people work these things out and find simple ingenious ways to get it done with whatever is at hand - before they have a fully decked out workshop. Thanks for the vid, very informative. Great quality result from using your knees as a workbench and vice.

Thanks for the vid, I found it very helpful. I took your technique and figured out a better way instead of holding the dremel between your knees. I took a dremel router attachment, and took the handles off. (the version with the handles that are held on with a screw, as some I believe are made as one piece. The screws holes are what I used to mount the attachment to the stand I made.) Then made a stand out of 2X4 and mounted the router attachment on the top of it upside down, so the dremel mounts inside the stand with the cutting bit pointing upwards out of the mount. I then clap the stand to my work bench. The bottom of the router attachment is pretty smooth and acts like a little table. Drill your starter holes in the kydex and cut the slot like you normally would, only its much more stable, accurate, and way easier. Works like a dream.

I suggest a vise to hold the Dremmel, just for saftey. Great vid and great looking holsters.

The side cutting bit works well, I have been using a standard bit and a cut off wheel. The wheel makes a lot of "slag" which results in more sanding.

Rob Hernandez Me too Rob. I'm a contractor by trade. But for what it's worth those tools aren't actually that "sharp". They are more like grinding stones

Integrated belt loops. That's genius, use less material and screws and saves time. You could also take two boards and make an L and clamp it to the table then clamp your Dremel vertically to that so you don't have to hold it with your knees.

There are some good cheap rigs you can make to hold that dremel

one of these days i will do a tutorial on how i make them from start to finish, but i am so darn busy at this moment i have little time. just a quick tip, heat both pieces at the same time and press them together. the two pieces will fuse together leaving a very nice tight edge.
