Fantastic band. They cover a LOT of genres, rock, metal, pop, rap and even do a few unlikely cover versions completely straight. You'll never be bored listening to Faith no More. The Chilli Peppers got the fame, and FnM got the talent.

Faith No More comes from what I term as the "Irreverent Period" in Rock music. They didn't give a shit what was cool, or what audiences expected of them. They just made the music they wanted to make, fuck everyone else. They were contemporaries of bands like Jackyl, Green Jelly, Ugly Kid Joe, etc. While all were wildly different in sound, they all had this attitude, you can't be cool if you have to try to be cool, so fuck it, just do whatever you like. Their music was very eclectic, not beholden to any musical style or genre. More so with Mr. Bungle, obviously, but Faith No More was similar in that regard. And they were fairly short-lived as a band (even accounting for their reunion after a long hiatus). So they didn't put out a lot of music, and it was all incredibly varied, to the extent you wouldn't even recognize any two songs as being by the same band if you weren't already familiar with them. Absolutely zero consistency of sound. Compare to a band like AC/DC, where if you hear one chord, you immediately know who it is, they are the polar opposite. But every song they released was amazing, and it was it's own thing. Their sound never got stale because they never really had one. So varied is their sound, if a new track dropped by an unknown artist that included dwarf castrato throat-singers, a monkey playing the glass armonica, and a fat lady farting into a kazoo... your first thought would be "OK, where's Mike Patton, I know he's behind this", and it would be fucking awesome. Somehow, he would turn it into a masterpiece. I don't know how, but he would.
@@michaelasay8587 They have 5 albums with Mike as vocalist. The Real Thing, Angel Dust, King for a Day, Album of the Year and the last one was Sol Invictus released in 2016 and if you are not familiar with that album I highly recommend giving it a listen.

when i was a kid i couldn't figure out who cliff burton was. my first metallica experience was ...and justice for all, playing hockey with the older kids in my neighborhood. it was a couple years before i finally put it all together when i went to a friend's house in junior high and he had cliff 'em all on vhs.
Where to begin though? Each song is so different. I suggested Squeeze Me Macaroni because of the rapping, but musically, I'd go for Carousel, Ars Moriendi or None Of Them Knew They Were Robots.
19 year old me hitch hiking 1/2 way across the Country to see a show.. What a show it was!!! Faith No More opened G & R out next Metallica closed the show by blowing the roof off the stadium 😀
Man you started something with this one. You gotta ride it till the end man. You can't stop at just one. Just start from the beginning. 'We care alot' 'The real thing' 'Angel Dust.' In my opinion they had a couple of tracks on the first album that just missed me but definitely had some strong reps on there as well. The next two albums there's not one bad song to be found. I guarantee most everyone who just watched this is going and pulling up their favorite song right now. That's where I'm headed. Can't have just one man. Much love from Texas. Be Kind Stay Strong Always Question ❤
I absolutely love Faith no more, Mike Patton is a musical genre in himself. He is so unique. Definitely faith no more had a ton of hits, falling to pieces, midlife crisis, gentle Art of making enemies. But Mike Patton has also done other side projects with bands called Mr. bungle and Tomahawk. Mr. Bungle had a great catchy song that was funny as hell called girls of porn, and Tomahawk has one of my favorites with God hates a coward. The live version of that is phenomenal. You should check that out on video. Enjoy the rabbit hole. He is known as having one of the best voiced in rock ‘n’ roll
This was THE SHIT when it came out!😁Was so hard watching Headbanger’s Ball at a low volume back in the day so I didn’t disturb my sleeping family-12-3am. Now l feel like a rebel if I make it to 11pm😅😳🥺I’m definitely understanding what my Momma always said-“Getting old is not for the faint of heart.” That and “Life is stinky-you gotta make your own fun.”🥰
Dude, you're killer. You're really listening and I feel you really are hearing it for the 1st time. Really appreciate your cerebral assessment. Check out Faith No More "Surprise You're Dead".
Faith No More is one of the most unique bands that you'll ever hear. When I think of possible influences Anthrax is the first that comes to mind. Listen to Anthrax "Bring the Noise" w/ Public Enemy. For another mind-bending collision of musical styles listen to Finntroll's "Jaktens Tid."
I always interrupted "It" as an individual's dream. So the question of "What is it?", asking "what is your dream?" *Can you feel it, see it, hear it today? *If you can't, then it doesn't matter anyway What is the "It" that you seek that YOU think will make you happy and fulfilled? Many people think the more you have, the happier you'll be, but become frustrated when they just can't get enough. *You want it all but you can't have it, It's in your face but you can't grab it...." Then, the ever elusive question "what are you willing to do to accomplish that dream? How much muck, mud, and sacrifices are you willing to make, and is the cost worth the price"? *It's alive, afraid, a lie, a sin.... It's magic, It's tragic, it's a loss, It's a win..." Anyway...right or wrong, just my interpretation. Great Reaction...Cheers 👍
I'd always interpreted the 'it' as fame, but rather than the broader hopes and dreams. As you say it could be many things to many people, and none of them will be wrong.
I remember Patton once saying in an interview that it's about how he prefers masturbation to sex. Though, he's always just said whatever he felt like during interviews to mess with people.
Greatest vocalist of all time. There isn't another performer who has the versatility of Mike Patton. I saw them live in the mid 90's and he went from screaming in Malpractice to dead smooth in Easy without missing a beat. Unbelievable!
Many thanks! So many good memories attached to this EPIC track! "We're not worthy!" Ahead of their time in 1990 and the guitarist is a beast! THE Snoop Dog of the electric guitar! Another vote for "Easy" or "Warpigs" by FNM!
Patton rules! The highest MF in the world! Portugal loves Faith no More!!!! Enjoy discovering the band and all the other Patton projects.... I like your aproach, Pegasus!
He was ranked 1 in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers list in 2014. His has a voice range of 6 octaves 1/2 note (Eb1 to E7). Aside from Faith No More, he has many side projects like Mr Bungle, Tomahawk, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Fantômas, Moonchild Trio, Kaada/Patton, Dead Cross, Lovage, The X-ecutioners, and Peeping Tom. My favorite is his Mondo Cane project where he recorded Italian love songs from as early as the 50's with an orchestra. The live Mondo Cane tours are insane, rockers watching an orchestra play pseudo-opera, with Mike Patton in a suit singing Italian.
I listened to Faith No More all the time in the 90s and I still do, and I never in a million years would have called them Rap or Hip Hop. They're Rock. No one hit wonder, all their stuff is fantastic and Mike Patton is a great singer!
This LP is awesome , this track , Zombie Eaters , From Out of Nowhere , and the title track From Out of Nowhere , they also do a decent cover of War Pigs Black Sabbath
The first time I heard / saw this was back in 1990, when it was the last video played on Good Rockin' Tonite (a Canadian music video show for those of us who still didn't have Cable.), and I captured it on VHS. I bought the cassette tape "The Real Thing" as soon as I could find it and it remains a personal favourite, even after all these years.🤘😛🤘
Over 30 years later, specifically because of this music video, my wife and I still sing along to this song... but with slightly altered words. A FISH! What is it? A FISH! What is it?
This song was HUGE, i cannot stress this enough. I hung around at an arcade when i was a young teenager with a tight group of friends and a larger circle of casual friends. You might love a song but you knew when it was a hit cause it would play on the jukebox a lot, and this song played constantly for a few months there. Literally every second song was this song. That only happened a couple of times, i remember a bon jovi song went through this around that time too, either just before or just after Epic. Great times.
FNM one of my very faves! That entire album, The Real Thing is fire From Out of Nowhere to the amazing cover of War Pigs! It's a musical journey, and the best part, it doesn't have to make sense, just take it all in.
Such a talented vocalist with a wide range of Octaves… Check out their version of “Easy,” to hear a different side of Faith No More, and also check out “We Care A Lot,” Which falls in line with this… go for the live versions if you can find them, great band to dive into
Mike Patton is a self taught musician, he has perfect pitch and a 6 octave vocal range. You need to do yourself a favour and listen to him sing!
I totally agree about Mike Patton my brother got me into him with faith no more and Mr Bungle another one of his bands !
Researchers did a study to determine the best rock singers and Mike Patton came top. Totally versatile with, as you said, a huge vocal range
Saw them in concert in 1990, they opened for Robert Plant. So good live, I enjoyed them more.

when i was a kid i couldn't figure out who cliff burton was. my first metallica experience was ...and justice for all, playing hockey with the older kids in my neighborhood. it was a couple years before i finally put it all together when i went to a friend's house in junior high and he had cliff 'em all on vhs.
Just like James Hetfield with his Faith No More t-shirt. He probably wore it to shreds. Those two bands were on good terms, for sure!
Congratulations on discovering the greatness that is called Faith no More!
Last cup of sorrow...is a good one..
Last Cup of Sorrow is one of the best.
Edit: I said best one, but there are so many ...
You have to check out Faith No More's rendition of "Easy like Sunday morning". I think you'll be even more impressed.
one of the most unique band, they don’t follow patterns, and Patton is the man with 1000 voices… for sure you will enjoy
Had many many great songs.
Now we are talking. Mike Patton=LEGEND! Best vocalist EVER!
Now yo gotta check out Mr Bungle. Another Mike Patton band👍
Heck yes
Where to begin though? Each song is so different. I suggested Squeeze Me Macaroni because of the rapping, but musically, I'd go for Carousel, Ars Moriendi or None Of Them Knew They Were Robots.
Stubb(A Dub).
agreed but he's not ready for it
@boblister6174 no one ever is 😁
19 year old me hitch hiking 1/2 way across the Country to see a show.. What a show it was!!!
Faith No More opened
G & R out next
Metallica closed the show by blowing the roof off the stadium 😀
Zombie Eaters is an amazing song. Who else but Patton would think of writing a song from an infant's viewpoint!
Love that song!!
Went to this show when it came to Indianapolis, incredible!
Seen them at the Monsters of Rock at the Pontiac Silverdome!! 🤘🤘🤘
"Angel Dust" is the album that came after the one this song is on, and is still one of my favourite albums ever.
One of my favorite songs of theirs is " midlife crisis "
Mike Patton is the absolute shit. Faith no more is just incredible on so many levels.
I absolutely love Faith no more,
Mike Patton is a musical genre in himself.
Check out Adam Curry's (H.B.B.,) interview with Joe Rogan on Y.T.
Dude, you're killer. You're really listening and I feel you really are hearing it for the 1st time. Really appreciate your cerebral assessment. Check out Faith No More "Surprise You're Dead".
This song is epic! Love this song and it really stood out when it was first released.
Oh, you'll love going down this rabbit hole! They've got SO MANY great songs!!!
This was never considered Rap . It’s just his voice . This is ROCK !!
We all considered that rap when it came out.
yeah but he is literally rapping
There was "rapping" in many musical styles that predate Rap. Did FNM consider it rap?
Debbie Harry Rapped in Rapture but it still wasn’t considered Rap . Same as this
@@paulamoya7956 It wasn't called RAPture by coincidence. LOL
Phenomenal album from an amazing band with an incredible vocalist
Faith No More is one of the most unique bands that you'll ever hear. When I think of possible influences Anthrax is the first that comes to mind. Listen to Anthrax "Bring the Noise" w/ Public Enemy. For another mind-bending collision of musical styles listen to Finntroll's "Jaktens Tid."
They mentioned Killing Joke and Manowar as their influences.
This whole album is great I like zombie eaters. I like the real thing. I like this whole album. One of the very few that I do like the whole album of
The lead singer, Mike Patton, is one of the most prolific vocalists in music.
the best vocalist ever, hands down. one of his other projects, tomahawk, is amazing.
I always interrupted "It" as an individual's dream.
So the question of "What is it?", asking "what is your dream?"
*Can you feel it, see it, hear it today?
*If you can't, then it doesn't matter anyway
What is the "It" that you seek that YOU think will make you happy and fulfilled? Many people think the more you have, the happier you'll be, but become frustrated when they just can't get enough.
*You want it all but you can't have it, It's in your face but you can't grab it...."
Then, the ever elusive question "what are you willing to do to accomplish that dream? How much muck, mud, and sacrifices are you willing to make, and is the cost worth the price"?
*It's alive, afraid, a lie, a sin.... It's magic, It's tragic, it's a loss, It's a win..."
Anyway...right or wrong, just my interpretation. Great Reaction...Cheers 👍
I feel there is no right answer here, it's very open to interpretation. But if there is, then it's this^^ Your explanation is awesome.
I'd always interpreted the 'it' as fame, but rather than the broader hopes and dreams. As you say it could be many things to many people, and none of them will be wrong.
@@RobJowett and that's art. Faith No More are absolutely incredible
I remember Patton once saying in an interview that it's about how he prefers masturbation to sex. Though, he's always just said whatever he felt like during interviews to mess with people.
Mike Patton
Mondo Cane
1. Il Cielo in Una Stanza
4. Deep Down
PS one of most iconic voice of 21st century
Finally! You will absolutely love this rabbit hole. Enjoy.
Greatest vocalist of all time. There isn't another performer who has the versatility of Mike Patton. I saw them live in the mid 90's and he went from screaming in Malpractice to dead smooth in Easy without missing a beat. Unbelievable!
The fish out of water represents the futility of grasping for it all.
Faith no More is an epic band "falling to pieces" one of greatest songs ever "surprise you're dead" awesome
One of the first rap/rock fusions I remember hearing, it was so different at the time and has been on nearly every playlist I've created since then.
Many thanks! So many good memories attached to this EPIC track! "We're not worthy!" Ahead of their time in 1990 and the guitarist is a beast! THE Snoop Dog of the electric guitar! Another vote for "Easy" or "Warpigs" by FNM!
This kind of rap is so much better than later stuff, imo. Yet, when this was big, it wasn’t rap to me, just Hard Rockin’ ❤
They have an amazing catalogue of music brah. Enjoy
💯♥️🇦🇺
Patton rules! The highest MF in the world! Portugal loves Faith no More!!!! Enjoy discovering the band and all the other Patton projects....
I like your aproach, Pegasus!
mike= the man whit thousand voices kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, great band and singer
So many great songs, you can't miss. Try their cover of the commodores "easy ". Yes, those commodores.
One of the greatest bands of all time and Mike Patton is one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
I bought the cassette tape "The Real Thing" as soon as I could find it and it remains a personal favourite, even after all these years.🤘😛🤘
King for a Day Fool for a Lifetime - one of my favorite albums ever! Faith No More ♥ Certainly not a one hit wonder.
And Mike was so young when he wrote the lyrics. Wise old soul, he's truly mesmerizing 🥰
Over 30 years later, specifically because of this music video, my wife and I still sing along to this song... but with slightly altered words.
A FISH!
What is it?
A FISH!
What is it?
Welcome to Faith No More and the tip of an iceberg 🎉🎉🎉
They were pioneers of the rap-rock genre. Almost every nu metal and rap rock group that came after lists them as a major influence.
The first rap/rock fusion song I ever heard, back in the late 1980s.
Surprise, You’re Dead is my favorite song of theirs.
Absolutely love this group ❤️,first saw them in 1992 😱 at Gateshead arena with GnR,soundgarden and blindmelon. Some show.
Melle Mel was my introduction to Rap. 1984 vacation/Holiday in Yugoslavia listening to White Lines on cassette. 😂❤
Such a talented vocalist with a wide range of Octaves… Check out their version of “Easy,” to hear a different side of Faith No More, and also check out “We Care A Lot,” Which falls in line with this… go for the live versions if you can find them, great band to dive into
Outta nowhere, stripsearch, ashes to ashes all brill songs
I wore this cassette out summer of 1990. Every song on this album is excellent
