Because alot of the electronics run through the dash cluster. I had a couple hours to do it, which wasn't enough time to make sure everything ran right. I probably will pull out the rest of the dash when I've got time to sort it properly.
heater unit . full dash cluster can be jerry rigged ,replace door glass with perspex and silicone in to place , bumper bar reinforcing material ( under the bar ) not much more left on the car to lighten it up ,,, a ef/el station wagon tail shaft there aluminium but you have to have it shortened to fit
It depends on the car and how well the shift program is adjusted, and when you modify the car it then throws everything out. In this car, and pretty much every car I ever owned, it goes slower left in drive. Like I said I'll prove it next time I'm out. I should point out that my main job is writing for those performance magazines you put so much faith in.
Good video mate cheap fun car and a great way of showing just how good nitrous Is I own the grey austin I let my mate race it that day no nitrous first time he had driven it
Swaybars are only to stop body roll going around corners, they don't do much in a straight line. Back in the day many muscles car didn't even have them from factory.
All that does is make it hot soft and gooey, and it doesn't remove the glue. I tried the heat gun first and it was hopeless. The caramel wheel costs $11 and rips the tape and glue off quickly without damaging the paint.
You can still remove a significant amount of weight from the car. Just make sure you take more of it from the front, any less in the back and you lose traction. Bonnet reinforcements, door reinforcements, cut holes where you can. What do you have in mind for that performance upgrade you speak of? I think a bigger carb would not hurt the budget to much.
you should look at getting some cheap turbos of Ebay i know that would put you over the 1300 bucks but be good to see how far you can go with em great series BTW
de-limiting it would help a huge amount, try removing all the dash and put the gauge cluster in a aluminium box, then you could remove the tail lights and get a manual box if u can. P.S its sound brilliant with no exaust system
Hah thats pretty impressive! Bet a few people would have been pissed to see you pulling away from them in a taxi spec el lol. I thought i remember seeing an episode where you had an electronic shift kit for it? There would def be a bit of time there as the ole btr's shift like shit from the factory. Alternatively you can get an s5 shift solenoid and give that a few turns...
It's not quicker. I've been doing this for a few years mate. If I leave the car in drive it shifts at around 4500rpm, holding the shift in each gears lets it rev out to the full amount and I get a better time. I'll prove it next time I'm at the strip.
scotty, ive got an idea and would like to hear what you think. Once you feel this series comes to an end, Sell the falcon and what ever cash you get for it, build another?
Hey! it can't be the commodore guys, this thing is getting chopped up we love it ;), the JDM junkies must be offended that they spent way to much just to get their machine to this point
This track was an 1/8mile. It's got a weird timing system that starts the time when the green light goes, not when you launch like every other track. So your reaction time becomes part of the Elapsed Time.
Seeing there was only one JDM car that was quicker than me at the drags that day (There were 180sx, silvia, skyline, rx7 turbo, etc), I don't think I did too bad. And that car was a megadollar highly modified R33 GTR. Yes, the series 5 RX7 beat me on that one run but I ended up running two-tenth faster later on. So don't be a dick. This car is all about having fun for cheap.
im not trying to fuck ya around or anything but its been proven heaps before and i've seen it, put it in performance or power mode if ya got it, and down the quarter it can make the diffence by tenths of a second, especially if its computer controlled, the computer is programmed to shift at the optimum point for the most power, i just remembered where i seen it now, it was one of those tech sections in a performance car magazine where they actually tested it for them selves as well
remove all the door crap. find really light ally rims? you could probably scrounge up some rims on cl for cheap. even if you had to do mismatched front to back.
I have sat and watch your whole series. Absolutely brilliant mate! Not because you have a show car nor a 10 second car, its a real car. All these other cock smokers are bagging you but clearly watch too many "Fast and Furious" movies. Massive amounts HP is not easily extracted from a vehicle without massive amounts of money. You my friend have proved otherwise. But lets not overlook the situation.... A man on a modest budget with a hobby to do man things. Its all fun, keep it up. love it!
Flashback night 🤙👌
Great Little series, I really enjoyed it.
love the videos have given me inspiration for my ef
Hi mate sorry to hear the passing of your
ol man that sux . Great videos battling on a budget I love it. Take care and keep up the good work!!
great watch
loving these 13 for 1300 scotty, keep them comming champ.
Because alot of the electronics run through the dash cluster. I had a couple hours to do it, which wasn't enough time to make sure everything ran right. I probably will pull out the rest of the dash when I've got time to sort it properly.
Keep making these videos please they are awesome
Great Work .. keep going
great stuff, can't wait to see more.

Scotty mate ! love the video, great job. looking forward to your next upload on this car....
love your vids mate. I hope this series continues
I remember back then i had an Ed futura first car 😝
It depends on the car and how well the shift program is adjusted, and when you modify the car it then throws everything out.

Great vids, looks like a fair amount more of weight can come out, can't wait for the next vid :)
awesome stuff cant wait for 17
Thanks for that. Racing the Falcon one last time this weekend, then moving on to something else
Good video mate cheap fun car and a great way of showing just how good nitrous Is I own the grey austin I let my mate race it that day no nitrous first time he had driven it
I am FAR from a Ford liker, but I must say. That car makes a rather pleasing engine note! :D
Good Job man, upload more videos of this car!
That's what I'm thinking. XR6 head, cam, and maybe a hi-stall converter
Runner up is awesome man! specially of what your set up is its pretty awesome hope you keep it up with this car! is the ppls champ :D
"Might even up the budget a bit."
THAT'S WHAT I WANNA HEAR, SCOTTY!
Maybe time for that XR6 head + Cam?
@@feXomorph that would have been fun
to get that tape of use a heatgun. or a hairdryer.
I have recently, but been busy with other stuff so I haven't finished the video yet.
bring on ep 17 cheers
Swaybars are only to stop body roll going around corners, they don't do much in a straight line. Back in the day many muscles car didn't even have them from factory.
There were alot of people impressed with how it went. Especially when it's beating Gen3 powered SS commodores, HDT Improved VN SS, XR6 Turbos, etc
Thinking about it, the guys at Performance Forums are even doing another challenge again. 13s for $1300 again but this time with FWD cars.
Yep, it definitely needs to lose some from up front.
We'll leave that for the next project.
Okay, no worries it was Episode Three
Good try Scotty. Seeya Rob
All that does is make it hot soft and gooey, and it doesn't remove the glue. I tried the heat gun first and it was hopeless. The caramel wheel costs $11 and rips the tape and glue off quickly without damaging the paint.
Well it's not like they have a gauge on the bottle. :)
I found the best way to reduce weight in the car was to put myself on a diet went from 130kg to 85kgs. That's 45kgs saved without touching a saw
It's getting towards winter so the thongs have been put away until spring.
you should look at getting some cheap turbos of Ebay i know that would put you over the 1300 bucks but be good to see how far you can go with em
great series BTW
Oops, I forgot that. Looking forward to see your next episode mate :D
de-limiting it would help a huge amount, try removing all the dash and put the gauge cluster in a aluminium box, then you could remove the tail lights and get a manual box if u can. P.S its sound brilliant with no exaust system
pull the full ac out of the car theres a bit in that, and swap some of the windows to perspex, easy weight savings
please Scotty I need them parts now mate. shit . if it was an XR6 you would be regretting it now they are worth heaps.
replace as much glass as you can with perspex, you would be surprised how much it weighs, sorry if you have already done it, im a new follower :D
Hah thats pretty impressive! Bet a few people would have been pissed to see you pulling away from them in a taxi spec el lol. Sounds like your carving a Turkey!
awesome! Shame about the last run, running out of nitros. Next time maybe!
take the bonnet off, lights out, milk crate seat, cut the doors, cut the springs WAY down. all free to do, and weight reducing.
Very nice, what about a tuned J3 chip for the ECU?
It was one of the first things I did. Go back and what the full series when you've got time.
It's strange seeing you work without your Mexican Safety Shoes on.
i love this series because i have an el falcon and i love my falcon :D
Put the mags on the front
Must be that UndefeatedAutomotive guy.
I have watched the whole series but was a while ago, must have missed that bit
It's not quicker. I've been doing this for a few years mate.
If I leave the car in drive it shifts at around 4500rpm, holding the shift in each gears lets it rev out to the full amount and I get a better time. I'll prove it next time I'm at the strip.
Gotta replace all your windows with perspex. That'll shave a hell of a lot of weight off it
at the very end when the falcon was on the trailer, was the tow vehicle a Subaru Liberty RS wagon?
scotty, ive got an idea and would like to hear what you think. Once you feel this series comes to an end, Sell the falcon and what ever cash you get for it, build another?
Hey! it can't be the commodore guys, this thing is getting chopped up we love it ;), the JDM junkies must be offended that they spent way to much just to get their machine to this point
was it 1/8 or 1/4 eitheir way bloody impressive
This track was an 1/8mile. It's got a weird timing system that starts the time when the green light goes, not when you launch like every other track. So your reaction time becomes part of the Elapsed Time.

What about the xr6 head? I know this is super old but if you bought the xr6 head in the budget u should have used it
Seeing there was only one JDM car that was quicker than me at the drags that day (There were 180sx, silvia, skyline, rx7 turbo, etc), I don't think I did too bad. And that car was a megadollar highly modified R33 GTR. Yes, the series 5 RX7 beat me on that one run but I ended up running two-tenth faster later on. So don't be a dick. Forgot to put them on? or forgot to tell people I took them off? I don't race in the rain. :)
8 dislikes from bogans who own gutless v6 vn commodores LOL!
Holy shit was this 3 years ago?? We should do it again mate. Was a fun challenge. Would have been nice to run the Vn against Bluebird.
It would have been great. Feels longer than three years to me. :)
Thought about replacing the windows with plexiglass?
Have you removed the sound deadening from the floor? Dry ice on it then chizzle it off
put a bodykit on that car itll look even better
bush mechanics 101
Let us see what your car can run, or a you still riding a pushbike?
two dislikes, really! Must have been guys I beat
Yeah, I could probably do that... but I don't want to. :)
Pull the engine out that will save weight.
Did you mean throttle body, its injected no carby.
are you going to run it on the 1/4 instead of the 1/8th?
i would love to see what times it would do on the 1/4
im not trying to fuck ya around or anything but its been proven heaps before and i've seen it, put it in performance or power mode if ya got it, and down the quarter it can make the diffence by tenths of a second, especially if its computer controlled, the computer is programmed to shift at the optimum point for the most power, i just remembered where i seen it now, it was one of those tech sections in a performance car magazine where they actually tested it for them selves as well
Yeah I could, but I don't want to. :)
Just a question, wouldn't dirt and shit get into the motor with that intake???
remove all the door crap. find really light ally rims? you could probably scrounge up some rims on cl for cheap. even if you had to do mismatched front to back.
I like what you do I love ya bro. but fuck! do you still have it ?
I have sat and watch your whole series. Absolutely brilliant mate! Not because you have a show car nor a 10 second car, its a real car. All these other cock smokers are bagging you but clearly watch too many "Fast and Furious" movies. Massive amounts HP is not easily extracted from a vehicle without massive amounts of money. You my friend have proved otherwise. But lets not overlook the situation.... A man on a modest budget with a hobby to do man things. Its all fun, keep it up. love it!
you could work out it would cut more weight about 20 kilo
i know how you can get 11s for 1200 bucks and it starts with a 4g63t and lots of boost
or you could trade her in for a bmw e30 325is
you do realize an auto is faster when left in drive, not spaz shifted like a manual lol look it up, why didnt you get the manual instead???
Seriously ! ran out of nitrous !!!
Do you often run out of petrol on your street car ?
You at the drags ! how embarrassing
ahah its funny how when the nitrous was on 8:73 and when it wasnt on 10:50 shit box ford haha:L
