  • The UK could reverse decades of decline in manufacturing by building on some of its existing industrial strengths to meet the challenges of net zero.
A report by The Institute for Public Policy Research has identified several key products and areas in which the UK is already a world-leading manufacturer, such as heat pumps and off shore wind.
The analysis, given exclusively to Sky News, reveals how a more focused green industrial strategy and investment could boost left behind areas and the broader economy.

    Who cares about green targets?
Not me nor anyone I know.
Travel regularly to India and China and see how they care about 'green'

Skynews missing the point many are talking about. To meet net zero tax payers will need to pay more and prices for things like petrol, food and electricity which will have a negative impact on our economy and people's finances.

In June 2022, the average price for energy for households in Russia was 0.06 US dollars per kilowatt-hour, while in the UK, gas prices have risen to 45p per therm in February 2021, and then twelve-fold to £5.38 in August 2022. However, Russia is one of the countries with the cheapest electricity prices in the world, while countries that import a lot of fossil fuels for electricity are more vulnerable to price fluctuations.

Wow complete self-delusion. Name one world leading green company from the UK! Or a tech company? We're just a third world "service economy" (ie. Deliveroo)

We need to, or it’ll be yet another opportunity utterly wasted by this useless government.
