I got into crowd simulation with houdini and this shot was perfect for me to practice and try something interesting.
It's actually not that difficult, houdini crowd solver can handle a lot of stuff, you can trigger condition, create ragdoll simulation, etc.
I also did a small RBD simulation to get the debris. After watching the comp I thought that I should have done them bigger but rendering with mantra in Houdini is very slow. So I just left there, at the beginning I was even lazyer actually I was planning just to leave the crack stock footage as it is...
Big thanks to my nephew, a great actor I'm sure he will become a big star one day.
