The Beethoven at the end actually works really well! This fantasy was called a fantasy d’introduction meaning it was to be an introduction to a another work not a character piece. This practice is also known as a improvisational prelude which pianists used to improvise in the beginning of works or to modulate between different works in different keys. This practice was very popular till the second half of the 20th century.
One of the finest performances of this work that I have ever heard. He might have played the melismatic passages a little more slowly and rhapsodically; but this is just quibbling, really. And I would have expected him to compose a real ending to the piece. Thanks for posting this!
Hi Daniel, I have recently subscribed and really appreciated your effort towards Mozart! Absolutely love Levin's playing of Mozart's sonatas and concertos; he is truly a genious...
@@DanielFahimi ancient Chinese music was kind of special, it was mostly single instrument, even single voice, you know? melodies were like a line, no parts involved. there were many literature pieces about music tho, saying the music was like “high mountain and flowing water”(Lie Zi), or “quarrel and whispering”(poem by Li Bai about pipa music). I just wanted to say the fantasia was relatively simple, yet full of changes and detail.

I will post in depth analyses of Mozart's last three symphonies soon (before the end of summer, hopefully). So stay tuned for that!
The piece was played so well by Robert Levin, why the hell does it get 400 views only?
This reminds me of some ancient Chinese literature's description of music
@@Canufindnow Can you elaborate on the that Chinese writing?
