You and I could be about to same age. I am 63 and I only ever DJ'd on Vinyl. Mostly private functions and I have a Hercules Mix and Starlight, as well as a Numark Dj2go2 and all bar one I brought off of Facebook Marketplace. What I like about Hercules controllers is the focus on DJ consoles particularly the Starlight and Inpulse 500 as teaching tools. I brought the DJ Air + and it's a very solid unit with features that I have never seen on any other controller and I like the Dejuced software.
Here is what you missed. There are 2Tb Micro Sd's that I use for storing Raw file's that can be put in an adaptor that then functions as a USB stick. I only ever Rip .wav file's off CD's and with the Dennon Prime 4+ I can use a full size SSD. Clubs in Australia are dropping Pioneer equipment like a hot rock due to reliability issues with Rekord box and the wildly overpriced CDJ 3000's and the shamefully overpriced Pioneer mixers. I work at Store DJ and see more returns of Pioneer gear than Dennon. I put together packages of the Dennon Prime 4 + and an Allen and Heath Z 10 which gives the DJ a number of options to plug in other gear (Laptop running Virtual DJ, Novation Launchpad and or a Numark Mixxx Pro ). So it's a straight XLR out to the stage box and goodbye to overcome media players with reliability issues.
@Digital DJ Tips.... I am currently transitioning from 2x Technics, 3x CDJ1000's mk3 and a DJM-800. Now i have bagged a pair of CDJ3000's & DJM-V10 to accompany my 1210 mk2's. Struggling to utilise and get going with Rekordbox analysing and exporting tunes to setting up pro DJ link. I have had 1000's mk3's from when they were industry standard and fresh out on the shelves and i bought my technics brand new (yes i am olde 44 just turned!) can you cover this again if already done but i would be forever grateful! i have dabbled with a NIS8 and traktor pro , also the Z1 and X1. I also have K2 and not totally dumb with computers but overwhelmed with getting this new kit aligned and working! Mac from UK
It's all covered in our Rekordbox Made Easy course, but essentially use a simple Ethernet switch/hub to join mixer and CDJs together, and if you want to DJ straight from the laptop the best way is with LINK mode, make sure Rekordbox is in Export not Performance mode and your laptop is connected to the same Ethernet network as the hardware. You'll almost certainly need an Ethernet adaptor for the laptop although it can also work over WiFi if the ethernet network is connected to a WiFi router.

I use the Xone K2 encoder knobs as jogwheels. I mapped it for traktor and for rekordbox with bomemiditranslator. I love it because its handy and i can take it everywhere in my laptop bag. I will upload my mapping soon.
We've covered it loads in the past. Think of it as 2+2 not 4 - so the first two decks remain your "main" decks, the others used for acapellas, drum loops etc.
How do you reccomend a total beginner to try dj-ing to see it's for them Without spending a lot of money (~100€) That leaves the door open to go deeper into it if you like it - or get out safely before buying gear and realizing you don't even like it in the first place Is this a delusional question?
I’m considering the RX3, XZ or Prime 4+. I know the 4+ is quite new but gather it is a relatively minor upgrade on the prime 4. I’m wondering if I should wait and see what comes to market over the next few months as those models seem to be quite late in their lifecycle? Am I overthinking this?
Yes, there is always something new around the corner! That said, this is a prime time of the year for gear launches so may be waiting till, say, Black Friday to see if anything new surfaces.

Hi Phil, you suggested Flx-4 as a beginner's gear. What about DDJ REV 1? Besides a marked difference in layout, are there noticeable differences in their functionalities whereby one is to be preferred to the other? Thank you in advance for any comment you might wish to share.
Here in OZ, CDs were so expensive during the 90s that compilations like 100% Hits and Hit Machine made more sense financially versus an album where you only like the single (or the single is an entirely different mix)

I’m having a problem in crates when I make a crate and put music in it it disappeared. What can I do
I know that with Mixxx, you have to click the name of the crate to get the music to appear. Give that a try.
What is the best platform to dj on these days ?
They all let you play music to other people, so it doesn't really matter, most people use Rekordbox or Serato.

REV1 doesn't work with Rekordbox I don't think as it is for Serato, but essentially does the same thing.
