Nice video, there's a few of us discussing the development of the "shadow", especially as it develops over time and situation. How certain aspects of it become distorted or baked in due to external experience and missing social tools. So, I look forward to more and shall peruse your back catalogue. Cheers.
Nicely done! Very clear, I feel like I actually understand shadow work now 😅 I really appreciated how you laid out that 'Integration' isn't only being given license to express what's been repressed, but is more about becoming conscious of what those repressed things are. Also that it's about learning to react in ways that are beneficial to both ourselves and others. Would it also be fair to say that integration is about combining both toolkits - the persona's and the shadow's - and becoming adept at choosing the right strategy from the right toolkit for the needs of the situation? In that way, integration is about learning what inner resources have been repressed, and learning how to access them when it is the most useful strategy in the moment.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I am glad you took something away from this. To answer your question about combining the persona and the shadow the short answer is yes, the longer answer is a little more complex. In my opinion and in Jungian Psychology It is absolutely the goal to become more 'flexible' with the range of who you are. Being able to access different emotions, feeling states, etc... Where it gets a little more complex is that typically our persona is what we lean on more easily. In Jungian psychology, we would want to work towards the shadow or the more difficult states to access and bring them into the personality. I would also change the language from "strategizing" to becoming authentic. I understand what you mean by strategizing, but to me, the goal is to become more present to the moment which involves authentic expression instead of a strategized response! What do you think about this?
Wonderful Work. Thank you ❤
Thanks for your support Charolette!
