I have a Tibetan terrier and she ADORES food. She is very disobedient and crazy sometimes but I still love her. She is very territorial and barks a lot at other animals.
Marlowe is as stubborn as any TT ever born. When we first got him he used to jump up on the bed at night, and I loved that. But one day I said "Marlowe! Bed! Jump!" and from that day onwards he never did it again. He hates to be left alone in the house for even five minutes,. so my wife and I have to go separately to the cinema if we can't find someone to look after him. (For some reason, we can leave him alone in the car. He is quite happy when we take him shopping.) He loves to be with us, even if all he is doing is sleeping on the floor at our feet (which is what he is going now). TTs have a way of cocking their heads sideways to look at you when you talk to them in a way that makes you swear that they are listing to every word, and understanding it.
I don’t know if all TTs are like this, but he takes everything in his stride. If an aggressive dog rushes up to him barking, Marlowe looks at him as though to say “Oh look! A barking dog!” He never gets aggressive, he is so patient, and he loves going to the vet. He sits patiently while the vet sticks things up his bottom, or injects him, or peers down his throat. He is the most Zen dog imaginable. Whenever I have discussed him with other TT owners, they all say that he is very typical. So like everyone else here is saying, if you don’t mind a dog that you can’t leave alone for more than five minutes at a time, you couldn’t find a lovelier breed.
I love Tibetan Terrier !! The last two I had for 15 yrs and I miss them terribly. They are an amazing breed !
I've just lost my boy and am hoping to get another but they're actually quite difficult to find ... I can confirm everything said in this video and that these really are furry little people and most definitely not the easiest dogs, but god how I miss him
Did you end up finding a Tibetan Terrier??
There is one that is awaiting a home at the rescue I volunteer with :)
@@Katya.s hi Katya, yes we have a dog now, I hope you find a place for him as they are truly great dogs
I've had my Tibetan Terrier (Max) for ten years, he has grown so close to me, it's almost like he is part of my body. If I want him, I just have to look down near my feet, and he is there. When I go out for an hour or two, he explodes with joy when I come home. I'm retired, so he doesn't spend too much time alone. I rarely brush him, his hair is long and straight, he always looks well groomed, with little help from me. He thinks his job is to defend me, if you are a stranger to him, don't let him think you mean to do me harm, he will bite you on your leg.
I have my first Tibetan terrier.....he's hilarious....and as the lovely lady said very determined.....she's spot on💖
I agree! Bear, my rescue TT, wants to be doing whatever I’m doing. Whether washing dishes, protecting the house, or going on field trips he is happy. They are highly intelligent, sensitive, expressive and love to feel included. They crave guidance from their owners. If you are too busy at work or with family do not get this breed. They are too smart and sensitive to not have you genuinely include them in all aspects of your life. You also have to find happiness and accept their quirky personality. If you do not want to invest time or money in obedience classes, grooming, sitters etc. this is not the breed for you. Bear has taught me many beautiful life lessons. Our gentle bond is incredibly strong (as in he is written into my Will & Testament strong.) Best companion ever!
Tibetan terriers are one of the best dogs I have two
We didn't know much about them til we made this video. They obviously great dogs
We got shitzhu but turned out to tibetian terrier when he grew up. But I love my dog. He is my heart. ❤️
I got my TT 13 years ago as a rescue (fair play to the original owner who surrounded the "designer" 8 month pup in favour of her older Jack Russell.) That TT changed my life, he's my favourite little man, and now I know we're on borrowed time, I indulge his every whim. I dread the void he'll leave. I can't ever imagine another dog, or even a human filling that void. And I'm not prepared to pay $2500 for a TT pup, who's likely to come from a puppy mill :/
I've got one, he's a very good boy
My friend is sleeping next to my left foot as i type. Most of the info. in the vid seems to checks out. Thanks
They are very clever
Soooooo cute😶😶😶😶
People are always harassing me when I walk my little Havanase dog Lucy up and down the boardwalk, they think she can't see and always advise me to cut her hair. Of course I refuse and tell them this is how they are supposed to look. Lucy´s hair actually is parted in the middle and lifts upwards allowing her to see quite well, I would be afraid what they would try to tell me if I tried to walk one of these dogs around town that look totally blinded by their hair. Ha ha.
i own white male tibetan terrier dog. Someone has abandoned him alone in the house. The fur was is tangled and full of fleas and wounds
Stupid question time: is it not problematic to allow their long coats to grow over their eyes? The eyes don't get irritated?
Their eyes don't get irritated as such because they have long eyelashes that keep hair out of their eyes.
Lhasa amso
Cut the hair out of their poor eyes!
The hair is necessary because their eyes are "sensitive" to the sun. My TT, I kept her hair semi short. Her eyes were exposed but there was hair over them.
James Hayes there’s protecting from the sun then there’s completely obstructing their vision like this one. Still cute though!
My TT is a joy to be around. He’s incredibly goofy but would do anything for food/play. TTs are the best!
