    Born in Bangor, Mom from Patten, went to Caribou high--you will never go anywhere in the world to match Maine, unless you go to Canada or Alaska--brook trout fishing for brookies is like a day in heaven--years ago catching 8-12 inch brookies in small ponds or brooks was better than being any place in the world

      Thanks for watching. That’s for sure, snow is right around the corner now. I’ll definitely be doing some ice fishing. Filming will we difficult but I’m sure I can figure it out.

    hey man im taking a trip to bar harbor next week, im coming up from new jersey any brook trout streams you would recommend

    • @MainelyOutDoors
      @MainelyOutDoors  4 роки тому

      Not many around the bar harbor area unfortunately especially with the weather we’ve been having. I would target small mouth if I where you or macs of the coast. If you want native trout its best to go north or the western ends of the state. Acadia is beautiful though so enjoy your trip, and hit the other regions next time!

    Good video... but im pretty sure you're never supposed to eat raw freshwater fish. those parasites can only be killed by cooking it.

    • @MainelyOutDoors
      @MainelyOutDoors  4 роки тому +2

      In some cases that’s true at least with a normal freezer and they also tend to be more prolific. So yeah I can’t recommend it to anyone.. but I’m fine 😂 I think a lot of the problems come from the small commercial ponds they come from

    I'd have gone with dill rather than fennel, and have removed the skin before marinating.

    • @MainelyOutDoors
      @MainelyOutDoors  5 років тому +3

      agreed, definitely should have removed the skin

    I support the effort but you really shouldn’t do this. 90% of freshwater fish have parasites. Even ones you can’t see. PLEASE FREEZE YOUR TROUT FOR 7 DAYS OR MORE. After two of my friends got tapeworms from a similar experience I decided to do my research

    • @MainelyOutDoors

      It was frozen for over 7 days. Thought I mentioned this but maybe I didn't.
