It was played at my grandma's funeral and it made me cry, and me crying made my mom start to with me. No one else did though and assumed that because I did, I must be 'going through something' (and they weren't wrong). It makes me angry to think about now, how her own children 'sucked it up' and acted like northern urban Irish Catholic stiffs instead of properly-mourning her. But, this song always makes me sad now.

My mum always tears up when listening to this song (doesn't matter which version) because her grandma's name was Maria. And although being 62 years old herself already, she still misses her so much. We both listened to this version together and... you know what happened 😭
It was played at my grandma's funeral and it made me cry, and me crying made my mom start to with me. No one else did though and assumed that because I did, I must be 'going through something' (and they weren't wrong). It makes me angry to think about now, how her own children 'sucked it up' and acted like northern urban Irish Catholic stiffs instead of properly-mourning her. But, this song always makes me sad now.
