Yeah this is the definitive version. I have the album too, but all the live off the floor videos are superior. Ring the Alarm, Love Lives, Nomad Knows, they all just kill.
your ears have nowhere to hide here. no comfortable consistent rhythm to listen in on. everywhere you look you find someone taking their craft seriously. all corners of this piece are exqiusite.
From where I was standing It was hard to see, hard to see But what has always been Will forever be, forever be And now you're running down my spine Like a waterfall, like a waterfall I want to write your name On every wall, on every wall But I believe in you But I believe in you But I believe in you, yes, I do I believe in you Up and down the river In a little boat, a little boat All I need is you and a castle All made of hope, all made of hope I can walk through the doors of time Scale any wall and cross any line I can send any thought to the end of the finger And burn any knot with a kiss But I believe in you But I believe in you But I believe in you, yes, I do And I believe in you From the bottom of the root To the top of the leaf, the top of the leaf I can drink maple water Anytime I believe, anytime I believe I was frozen, I was blowing In a blade of grass Of running out of honey Of living in the past But I believe in you 'Cause I believe in you I believe in you, yes, I do I believe in you, yes, I do I believe in you 'Cause I believe in you I believe in, I believe in, I believe in you, yeah Yeah, I believe in you and I believe in you
From Bob Dylan to Joni Mitchell, from Wayne Shorter to Norah Jones, from Chick Corea to Daniel Lanois, from Brad Mehldau to his Fellowship; thank you Brian Blade for the subtle accompaniment, thank you for the explosive attacks. Carry on inspiring.
***** Nicely phrased! Yes, I'm discovering that! I have seen his name many times over the years on production notes, etc of many different groups, but i never realized until recently that he is a unique musician in his own right, not just a wiz on recording. I like his style a lot!
I just discovered this for the first time and am BLOWN AWAY! Amazing sound and a singer with an incredible voice. I am moved in so many ways!! Is it me, or does the singer remind anyone a tiny bit of Joss Stone?? Either way, amazing all around!!
i gave-up on believing in Forever quite some time ago, for no apparent reason this song rejoins that idea and weaves its way through the doors of time forever with a kiss
Wow! It's as great as you would expect from Daniel Lanois.. who's work is always sublime, and I am so thrilled that he's recovered from the awful accident. A great future for him and Black Dub.
One word to describe this-AMAZING! Fantastic new project from Daniel Lanois with one of the best rhythm sections in the world(Daryl Jones on bass and Brian Blade on drums) and the unbelievable soulful voice of Trixie Whitley. Should check them out when they come to the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver next month.
I found this a few years ago. I come back to it every few months and it always knocks me out. Great performance and great production values..... if only everything was miked this well. I'd buy a DVD of this session if it were available.
Trixie wanted a more free emvironment to express as a solo artist, Lanois is always someone with a few irons in the fire with his solo projects and ambient work with Rocco Deluca, aside from the production of other artists. I think this was always meant to be a one-off project. Brian Blade is never short on collaborations either.
I LOVE THIS and I keep telling all my friends to watch it . She sings with her whole body!! Love the music too - Daniel Lanois is a genius and of course the drummer and Bass are awesome too!!
you have to look up Trixie Whitley and follow the links to buy... By the way this is Chris Whitley's Daughter for those of you that truly follow the blues... She is a blues machine!!!
The Guitarist is DANIEL LANOIS and the Drummer is BRIAN BLADE, who just performed on Shania Twain's Latest Album... TRIXIE, the Vocalist, is the Late CHRIS WHITLEY's Daughter! ❤
I too heard this on the radio and was hooked, when they anounced who it was I wrote it down and made sure to look it up! Awesome sound and an amazing voice I really like this band looking forward to hearing more from them
Are they talking about Ayahuasca? "from the bottom of the brew, to the top of the leaf, I can drink maple water any time I believe." In the midst of my Aya visions, Black Dub's songs play in mid air in slow motion and on repeat. They show me so much depth and heart shining love it almost hurts! Thanks for your work you beautiful, spectacular people. Danny, you've really done it.
For 10 years I constantly come back to this. Fantastic band, phantastic performance.
Me2. Longer than that. On my list of never leave my list that no one has heard😊 fools🙄
me too
with you there
Those drums... That Bass. I could listen to this on repeat for a week. They er genius, especially together
i agree totaly
anything Daniel Lanois gets involved with turns to GOLD
Holy Moly!! 🖤
If her skin was a curse in America, this song would have a deeper kind of soul.
The drummer is killin' it !!.... It don't get much tastier than that.....nice Job !!
It's refreshing to hear music like this in the age of pitch-correct and salacious videos. Thank you for keeping music organic!
Once you really listen this nothing is the same. A tribute to the good groove...
Yeah this is the definitive version. I have the album too, but all the live off the floor videos are superior. Ring the Alarm, Love Lives, Nomad Knows, they all just kill.
Brian Blade is a fucking genious.
+Patrick Panageas genius
Indeed he is! He is one of the few drummers who can play in a silent wau and still sound powerful.
Still beter than the album version ... The drum, bas, pianist ... Great musicians!
holy s*** everytime I see a new "live" video from Trixie I fall more and more in love with her voice. Pure gold and bliss.
Trixie, you brought me back to the groove. Now I got dem blues.
Never ever get tired of this.
This has instantly become one of my new favorites. So hard to find soul in music nowadays. These guys have that shit on lock.
I used to listen this song a lot of times. Now I am listening it after quite a long time and I almost cry how good is that.
Effortless talent! Born to make music. What a rhythm section!
8 years in and I'm still in love with this song.
Simply brilliant.
your ears have nowhere to hide here. no comfortable consistent rhythm to listen in on. everywhere you look you find someone taking their craft seriously. all corners of this piece are exqiusite.
i don't understand why this video doesn't have 5,000,000 views
this song and this band deserve more respect. such a great tune!!
From where I was standing
It was hard to see, hard to see
But what has always been
Will forever be, forever be
And now you're running down my spine
Like a waterfall, like a waterfall
I want to write your name
On every wall, on every wall
But I believe in you
But I believe in you
But I believe in you, yes, I do
I believe in you
Up and down the river
In a little boat, a little boat
All I need is you and a castle
All made of hope, all made of hope
I can walk through the doors of time
Scale any wall and cross any line
I can send any thought to the end of the finger
And burn any knot with a kiss
But I believe in you
But I believe in you
But I believe in you, yes, I do
And I believe in you
From the bottom of the root
To the top of the leaf, the top of the leaf
I can drink maple water
Anytime I believe, anytime I believe
I was frozen, I was blowing
In a blade of grass
Of running out of honey
Of living in the past
But I believe in you
'Cause I believe in you
I believe in you, yes, I do
I believe in you, yes, I do
I believe in you
'Cause I believe in you
I believe in, I believe in, I believe in you, yeah
Yeah, I believe in you and I believe in you
Thx
Silk and sandpaper, that voice, in alternating breaths. I am in love.
This is so damn good. I keep checking in every couple of years to hear it
Amazing groove by Brian Blade!!!
Trixie Kicks ass as well!!!!
still gives me the chillzzz 13 years later ❤
Killer bass line! I heard the studio version of this song and was completely floored.
Yeah...they need to make another record.
Levels above everything else. Tight as a gnat's ringpiece. Pocket so deep I had to hire a submarine to locate my jaw.
That BASS !!!!!!
You can also add SHANIA TWAIN to his "client list"!
BRIAN BLADE has honoured Canada's New Country Queen's, too!
❤
Simply great, captured a wonderful feel. Trixie has the best backup possible for her style...
Daniel Lanois....Brilliant guy!
Jeanie DeCoster He's caught lightning in a bottle many times throughout his career.
***** Nicely phrased! Yes, I'm discovering that! I have seen his name many times over the years on production notes, etc of many different groups, but i never realized until recently that he is a unique musician in his own right, not just a wiz on recording. I like his style a lot!

i gave-up on believing in Forever quite some time ago, for no apparent reason
this song rejoins that idea and weaves its way through the doors of time

She has a amazing voice 🙃

So good, I dont understand why the webpage is offline and there has not been any new material or what happened to the band. IT HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL
Trixie wanted a more free emvironment to express as a solo artist, Lanois is always someone with a few irons in the fire with his solo projects and ambient work with Rocco Deluca, aside from the production of other artists.
