Oof bones beneath the skin making the list! I do think the green creek series is really good but I would advise skipping over in the lives of puppets (that one is my least favourite of his). I remember seeing dragon reader everywhere when it came out but it didn't really pull me in so I am glad I skipped over it now! I unhauled the Okungbowa book 1 without having read it, and I thought it was one I wasn't realistically going to get around to. A shame that middle book syndrome struck so strongly! I am glad briar book of the dead was so good because that is waiting for me on my shelf. I might like the dead cat tail assassins more than you as I do really like a good novella. My sister read that one this past year and she really liked it ^.^ But I understand why you didn't like it either! Oh my goodness you calling it john wick 4 vibes really pulls me in as I love those films haha. I love the artwork in lore olympus! I have read three volumes but haven't continued on yet. My sister (she loves afrofuturism) also read lost ark dreaming and felt very underwhelmed by it. I recently read daughter of no worlds and I had a good time but it didn't blow me away on the level that the serpent of the wings of night did.
Lmao "I can see why people like it if you like a slow a** paced thing..." 💀☠🤣🤣🤣 This also reminds me I haven't tried Son of the Storm yet.....whoopsies. But at this point it sounds like I might as well wait until book 3.
I bought and read the first two volumes of Lore Olympus, and the Apollo character really grated on me. I've read enough Greek Mythology to know that all the gods suck, but his character in particular in this version really bothered me. I donated my copies to my local library.
Dang, you did not have luck with the netgalley arcs last year 🤣 Warrior of the Wind is suuuuch a bummer... I haven't dared pick it up yet lol. And I am totally with you on Faebound and Daughter of No Worlds. For me, Evocation by ST Gibson, Lucy Undying by Kiersten White, The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett and A Dark and Drowning Tide by Alison Saft were quite big let downs. And I had my first ever 1.5 star rating with an indie romantasy that was just absolutely awful lol. Here's to less duds in 2025 lol 🤪
