The Oboist is Katharina Arfken. She makes baroque Oboes, plays baroque Oboes, gives master classes on playing baroque oboes. She has a lot of performance experience. She is a professor for baroque and classical oboe at the Music Academy Basel, Schola Cantorum Basilensis, Switzerland. We're lucky to see her at work here.
Thank you for reminding me of the oboist's name. I had found it on the Bach Foundation website and then forgotten it. Then recently when I went looking there again to find her name I couldn't find it. Thank you, Ms. Arfken, for your marvelous playing.
I don't think I've ever heard a more pleasing and pure Bach soprano voice as that of Miriam Feuersinger. The oboe artistry of Ms. Arfken is also of unparalleled quality -- exquisite tone and a perfect sense of rubato. And those are just my remarks on the opening aria!
How anyone could ‘thumbs down’ this performance is totally beyond me. It’s great to see everyone so absorbed and committed to ‘giving of their best’. Loved every minute of it 💔.
All the musicians are outstanding. Let me praise the violist (third player from the left). In all the cantatas I have listened to she does a marvellous job, she is very attentive, her eyes are always reaching out to the first violinist, she is in full accord with Mr Lutz. Exceedingly admirable!!
She has elements of a boy's soprano in her voice, the ringing sound and piercing quality. She may be close to the original performance. Fortunately for us she has the emotional maturity of a grown woman, this lets her introduce emotional elements that no boy could bring to bear because of his youth. She can bring the balance of maturity to her work. We get the best of both worlds here. "Feuersinger" - Fire Singer?

Wonderful soprano, but it is NOT Miriam Feuersinger (according to me). Can anyone tell me who it is? ... or perhaps I was led astray by the recording of BWV 116, where another wonderful soprano is (erroneously?) named Miriam F.

Beautiful! Wonderful to hear a soprano who doesn't do automatically switched on vibrato but uses it sparingly and with great taste
Yes she is incredibly accurate when she "throw" a high note, like an arrow in the bull eye. Miriam Feuersinger is one of my favorite soprano.
How anyone could ‘thumbs down’ this performance is totally beyond me. It’s great to see everyone so absorbed and committed to ‘giving of their best’. Loved every minute of it 💔.
In order to thumb this down, one's taste would have to be of such appalling vulgarity that quite beggars belief.
