19:09 funny story about this, my late Father(lifelong otr driver) once went through a Walgreens drive thru on a bicycle(he was visiting home) and the worker told him that he couldn't pick up his meds in a bicycle because it was "too dangerous because it was too small of a vehicle" or something along those lines so he bikes home and jumps in the semi amd shows back up at the drive thru and asks the worker if the semi was too small XD

Hays Kansas did that because there was a 4lame street with frontage roads on both sides so they made it a bit easier to get in and on and to cut down some traffic lights. There already is a truck bypass for hays on the west side of town there is an i70 exit and it curves around to the south end.

I live in Hays and can confirm those dumb roundabouts are in fact shaped that way

Yes that is very accurate representation of Hays Kansas. Missing some buildings but roads are very accurate. Those round abouts are a pain in the butt driving a 18 wheeler at times.
Yes I enjoy watching the game more when the person knows what their doing and can give little fun facts that they learned in real life experiences not to promote another channel on here but thats why i enjoy Modded ATS Mikes videos and lives cause i can relate or even learn something knew to take outside the game. I also enjoy listening to the older generation tell their personal experiences just fascinates me.

Considering that Western Star and Freightliner are both brands under Daimler Trucks North America, they share common components.

Do you know anything specifically about Kensworth or Peterbilt trucks? I only ask because they're personal favorites and I figured it was worth a shot in the dark if you knew anything about them. : )
@@PestilentAllosaurus Kenworth and Peterbilt are brands under PACCAR, Inc. of Bellevue, Washington. The company (originally PACific CAR and Foundry) started out as a manufacturer of railway and logging equipment. Kenworth was purchased in 1945, as PACCAR began to step away from its original activities of railway and logging equipment manufacturing and began to focus more on heavy vehicle manufacturing, which started during WW2 (they built M4 Sherman tanks, as well as the M24 "Dragon Wagon" tank transporter and the humongous T28 Super Heavy Tank during that time). Peterbilt, a keen rival to Kenworth, was bought by PACCAR 9 years later, in 1954. In between, the Dart Truck Company, a specialist truck maker, was purchased in 1954 (Sadly, the Dart brand was retired and sold off by PACCAR, something that would be repeated in the years to come).
PACCAR in the 60s up to the 90s pursued a program of acquisitions and divestitures (mostly in underground mining and oil exploration equipment) in an attempt to reduce dependence on the heavy truck market, which was under pressure from rivals like Freightliner, Mack and Volvo. They also acquired several European truckmakers, the first of which was England's Foden Trucks in 1980. Sixteen years later, in 1996, DAF Trucks of the Netherlands was bought, and with it came another British truckmaker, Leyland Trucks (Like what happened to Dart Trucks, Foden was retired along with Leyland Trucks as a brand).
Today PACCAR has three active truck brands: Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF. Like many companies in the same industry, they share common components. For example, the MX-series engine is a DAF design, modified for US conditions.

Can confirm from google maps, that is what hays has done, I assume to cut main drag traffic lights.
There is an article also saying they did this with the explicit plan to build a truck bypass.
Yes I can confirm as a Kansan, in Hays thoes roundabouts do actually exist and they are a damn nightmare.

That was Hays kansas... and yes, it has a dog bone and 3 or 4 traffic circles in 3/4 of a mile there. I work with the kansas DOT and even they weren't sure why that was the best solution 😂😂
See if you ever have to go through the "double cross over" off of I-70 at junction city... equally bizarre intersection
Wait till Missouri. Spriingfield has a big roundabout and (count'em) six Diverging diamond highway bridges.
@mavfin8720 if I remember correctly, I think the double cross over is the same thing... except under the overpass instead of on either end of a overpass.

OTR truck driver here and that’s a pretty accurate depiction of hays they recently put all those roundabouts in on the main drag through town. Last time I was through there they were working on a truck bypass from the north side of town to the south side!

I'd like to get my dad to play ats. He's a retired trucker. Been trucking longer then I been alive. I'm 41. He's 71. Was on the road when I was born. I love ats . Play it off and on. Been on sense day 1 .
I've been far south as Freeport Texas and as far north as Idabel Oklahoma. And I'm telling you they sort of botched Galveston.

The ai traffic isnt too kind its just bad. It gets scared if you drive out too far on to the road. It really needs a lot of getting used to

I'm not sure what you use for looking around. If you use a mouse, you should attach the Zoom hotkey to it somewhere. You can zoom in on things you are talking about and look at really easy.
Also, a real-life trucker or retired trucker review would be pretty cool and a good click bait title from it.
