I'm curious as to whether or not this is a software issue? Seems like whenever a product gets released there's some tweaking that needs to be done to get everything dialed in.

I created this video so VIOFO could see the image quality difference between both dash cameras with Sony STARVIS 2 image sensors (IMX678 for the A229 Pro and IMX675 for the A119 Mini 2). VIOFO has been working on a variety of firmware versions for me and others to test while they're trying to dial in the image quality.

When I using A229 Pro and change resolution in 2K, a video quality is very horrible, do you have same problem? but rear camera 2K is clear, and parking mode for front camera also has unclear video quality

I can't say that I've tested 2K resolution setting for the A229 Pro. I've been busy testing numerous debug/test firmware versions for VIOFO to address 4K video color and white balance issues. The rear video 2K video does look decent, but that's being handled by the processor in the rear camera. Early next week, I'll try to test 2K video for the front camera.

This morning, I tested the A229 Pro front camera with a resolution of 2560x1440 30fps. The video quality is poor compared to the A119 Mini 2 at that same resolution setting. I created a video showing the issue and I've reported the issue to VIOFO. ua-cam.com/video/xo5EuhVPPmU/v-deo.html

I received a response from VIOFO. VIOFO said “Almost all Sony 4K sensor doesn't support 2K resolution natively, it can be optimized, but the performance can not be matched with IMX675.”
The 2K footage of the A229 Pro front camera will never look as good as the A229 Pro rear camera 2K footage, nor the 2K footage of the A119 Mini 2.

Sad to hear about it, it is not really good for time-lapse in parking mode, but hopefully they can try to make a firmware to improve it.
